Levels of commitment change, sometimes on a daily basis, depending on the key variables that drive commitment. And here’s the exciting news: some of these variables you can control.

Revue de presse

"[Reeder's] book is delightfully practical as well as informative, packed with intelligence and clarity of both thought and expression. Learned, yet eminently accessible, it is a rare pleasure."
The Economist

“Commit to Win is at once readable and rich with ideas, both fun and important.  Heidi Reeder reveals the complexities and dispels the myths that surround commitment, and sketches a compelling framework that explains why committing is sometimes so difficult, and how to right the ship when commitment wanes.  Well worth reading if you’ve ever struggled to follow through on a plan that seemed important but somehow fell by the wayside.”
—Adam Alter, New York Times bestselling author of Drunk Tank Pink: And Other Unexpected Forces That Shape How We Think, Feel, and Behave
“This book sheds light on a crucial (but often overlooked) question: Why do some people persist with important goals while others do not? A must read for those interested in the science of achievement.”
—Cal Newport, author of So Good They Can't Ignore You
“What a useful and entertaining book! Heidi Reeder’s simple explanation of the 4-element formula for commitment can help you into--or out of--a commitment such as a relationship, a workout routine, a job, or a project. A valuable addition to the psychological literature.”
—Meg Selig, Licensed Professional Counselor, author of Changepower! 37 Secrets to Habit Change Success and the "Changepower" blog at psychologytoday.com.
“Commit to read this superb book, now!  Heidi Reeder will help you reach your goals.”
—Barbara Morgan, NASA Astronaut (ret.)

We all have a mixture of goals we persist with and some that fall by the wayside.

Commit to Win is a very practical book that will help you understand why you persist with some goals and not others, and how you can increase (or decrease) commitment in areas where you desire that.

The book makes you really contemplate what you are committed to and why. It's filled with examples that are both funny and touching, and will make you see your decisions and the decisions of others in a whole new light.

Dr Reeder also writes a very interesting blog for PsychologyToday.com which is how I've been exposed to her prior writing.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Very insightful read on Commitment - will help you to understand things in a way you likely never thought of 14 juillet 2014

I found this book right around when it hit the shelves after reading about the Commit to Win formula of commitment in a blog entry. I was intrigued at the concept of a formula such as this and ordered the book soonafter.

I just finished reading it now, and through my reading I've marked many many pages that I will return to later. I found it very helpful to understanding both a recent career change and the reasons that led to it (increased troubles, noticing other options), and it's also helped me to look freshly at my current relationship.

As I got towards the end of the book I was already feeling it was a very well done and explorative work, and then I got to the last chapters that guide you on how to go through diffferent directions. If you're trying to figure out how to increase commitment at work, deploy the "All In" approach. If you think it may be time to move along from some situation, perhaps read "Moving On" and evaluate and start the process. Having these "worksheet" chapters to get the ball rolling is a bonus in an already excellent book.

Thank you to the author for the clear and well organized content, a logical approach by which we can understand why our determination may wane at times, and thanks for the understanding you've shared with your readers. Definitely recommend this book and I hope many more people benefit from it as have already.

The author breakdowns the factors behind commitment (treasures, troubles, contribution and options) and assists to analyse the forces at play behind our commitments (personal and work) and how to gain it from others.

I particularly liked how the topic has been broken down, the writing style, the synopsis and takeaway at the end of each chapter. There is also an action plan discussing each of these forces in detail.

If this is the specific area you intend to explore then would certainly recommend. Four stars for the material -Five stars for the writing style and structure.

Dr. Reeder's book not only brings to light the fundamental aspects of commitment, she also provides a game plan for implementing them. Her book explains the four components of commitment and their associated myths. This book asks the reader to be honest with oneself and get to the core of what they do and do not value. She addresses not only how to be more committed, but also how to be less committed to things that no one longer hold priority and how to encourage others to be more committed. This book is beneficial beyond measure, entertaining to read, and we'll worth the time spent.
