Descriptions du produit

Levels of commitment change, sometimes on a daily basis, depending on the key variables that drive commitment. And here’s the exciting news: some of these variables you can control.

Revue de presse

"[Reeder's] book is delightfully practical as well as informative, packed with intelligence and clarity of both thought and expression. Learned, yet eminently accessible, it is a rare pleasure."
The Economist

“Commit to Win is at once readable and rich with ideas, both fun and important.  Heidi Reeder reveals the complexities and dispels the myths that surround commitment, and sketches a compelling framework that explains why committing is sometimes so difficult, and how to right the ship when commitment wanes.  Well worth reading if you’ve ever struggled to follow through on a plan that seemed important but somehow fell by the wayside.”
—Adam Alter, New York Times bestselling author of Drunk Tank Pink: And Other Unexpected Forces That Shape How We Think, Feel, and Behave
“This book sheds light on a crucial (but often overlooked) question: Why do some people persist with important goals while others do not? A must read for those interested in the science of achievement.”
—Cal Newport, author of So Good They Can't Ignore You
“What a useful and entertaining book! Heidi Reeder’s simple explanation of the 4-element formula for commitment can help you into--or out of--a commitment such as a relationship, a workout routine, a job, or a project. A valuable addition to the psychological literature.”
—Meg Selig, Licensed Professional Counselor, author of Changepower! 37 Secrets to Habit Change Success and the "Changepower" blog at psychologytoday.com.
“Commit to read this superb book, now!  Heidi Reeder will help you reach your goals.”
—Barbara Morgan, NASA Astronaut (ret.)

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Awesome read for understanding the psychology of commitment. 15 mai 2014

We all have a mixture of goals we persist with and some that fall by the wayside.

Commit to Win is a very practical book that will help you understand why you persist with some goals and not others, and how you can increase (or decrease) commitment in areas where you desire that.

The book makes you really contemplate what you are committed to and why. It's filled with examples that are both funny and touching, and will make you see your decisions and the decisions of others in a whole new light.

Dr Reeder also writes a very interesting blog for PsychologyToday.com which is how I've been exposed to her prior writing.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Very insightful read on Commitment - will help you to understand things in a way you likely never thought of 14 juillet 2014
Par Dexmeister - Publié sur Amazon.com
I found this book right around when it hit the shelves after reading about the Commit to Win formula of commitment in a blog entry. I was intrigued at the concept of a formula such as this and ordered the book soonafter.

I just finished reading it now, and through my reading I've marked many many pages that I will return to later. I found it very helpful to understanding both a recent career change and the reasons that led to it (increased troubles, noticing other options), and it's also helped me to look freshly at my current relationship.

As I got towards the end of the book I was already feeling it was a very well done and explorative work, and then I got to the last chapters that guide you on how to go through diffferent directions. If you're trying to figure out how to increase commitment at work, deploy the "All In" approach. If you think it may be time to move along from some situation, perhaps read "Moving On" and evaluate and start the process. Having these "worksheet" chapters to get the ball rolling is a bonus in an already excellent book.

Thank you to the author for the clear and well organized content, a logical approach by which we can understand why our determination may wane at times, and thanks for the understanding you've shared with your readers. Definitely recommend this book and I hope many more people benefit from it as have already.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Dr. Heidi Reeder helps us realize the value of committing to win in new book 29 avril 2015
Par Cyrus Webb - Publié sur Amazon.com
What a great resource a book like COMMIT TO WIN is, especially when it comes to realizing why you might not be accomplishing everything that you say you want in your life.

By using the four elements of commitment we are able to target exactly where there is work to be done in our own individual circumstances and take the necessary steps to work towards our goals and the success we want. Dr. Heidi Reeder lays out in a practical and easy-to-understand way that we can't allow ourselves to be stymied by trouble or challenges. We have to be willing and able to realize how they can help us get to where we want to go and achieve what we want to achieve.

I love the fact that the book encourages us to push forward, in spite of our current situation. This is not what we always hear from family and friends. This book will help us realize what it truly means to commit to winning and allow us to get out of our own way in order to do it.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Fish or Cut Bait 26 avril 2015
Par Liza Long - Publié sur Amazon.com
When I was a college student, we used to joke that every relationship had a "fish or cut bait" point. This book really helped me to understand my own commitment patterns. It applies not only to personal relationships but also to career goals. The book is a clear and compelling call to action: commit to what really matters to you. Don't waste your talents and time on things that will not benefit your ultimate goals.

Plus, Heidi and I are both Boise Hudson Street Press authors! Here's my book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/159463257X/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2
