2.0 étoiles sur 5 Not Good as only resource for CTT+ Prep 15 avril 2012

I've been teaching CTT+, train-the-trainer courses for a few years and my students enjoy a near 100% pass rate. While this book has some interesting information about Training, Instructional Design, and Development, I would NOT recommend this book to help you prepare for the CTT+ test or video. The questions at the end of each chapter do not reflect the types of questions CompTIA asks on the test, as taking the actual test will show. Additionally, I found a lot of "facts" in this book questionable (I couldn't cross-check because there were no footnotes, endnotes, works referenced, bibliography, etc). At the beginning of the book the author recommends making flash cards to study--learning any of these words would be a waste of time for CTT+. Even the style of the book feels like a textbook--not an interactive guide to help you improve training (see Telling Ain't Training put out by ASTD for a GREAT book on training). If you want books on training, find something else (like the one I just mentioned). If you need help with passing the CTT+, search for resources online or take a class (there are no really good CTT prep books out there, unfortunately). This book, for this test, in my opinion, will not prepare you.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent Study Guide for CTT+ Exam!!!! 27 mars 2013

The CompTIA CTT+ Certified Technical Trainer All-in-One Exam Guide is an excellent resource to becoming a certified technical trainer! I've been a classroom instructor for several years and when this was first introduced to my department I thought that it would all be review of what I already knew. I was very wrong! Joseph Phillips lays everything out clearly for the reader. He is very good at explaining difficult concepts so that they are very easily understood and retained. Every day I catch myself growing into a better facilitator utilizing the knowledge gained by reading this book.
I know that had I not read this exam guide and studied from it, I never would have passed the CTT+ exam! If you follow the author's advice you will have no trouble passing the CTT+ exam yourself!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Awesome Book!! 9 décembre 2013

Love this book! I am over half way finished with it and it has already more than paid for itself. While it is true I could have studied a bunch of "if ... then" scenarios and just regurgitated what I had learned in order to pass the test, I am thankful for the background Mr. Phillips has provided in this book. I will agree that this book may be wordy at times and goes beyond the objective of simply passing the CTT+ exam, although I would be ashamed to call myself a Certified Technical Trainer while never being introduced to some of the topics contained in this book such as the ADDIE methodology and Kirkpatrick evaluations.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Odd format for Technical Trainers 23 août 2013

I got thrown off by the format of this book. It says Exam Guide in the title. I was anticipating that the book would follow a familiar format. Instead, I found the book wordy and rambling at times; more like someone standing in front of a class than a book. In some chapters I would get lost in his stories and then find out I had to digest a lot of concepts, and then find out later that those concepts don't even apply to the exam. His stories were fine, but they're not part of CompTIA's CTT+ certification. Make it obvious what's critical to know or change the book title.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Inconsistences between the book and pdf content 12 janvier 2014
Par Mr. A.N.Other - Publié sur Amazon.com
The content discrepancies go-on-and-on to the point I was getting a bit fed-up finding them.
I have read several books in my 15 years in IT industry, however, I have never read one with so many content MISTAKES both factual and non-factual. As I have read the book, I have answered the questions on the pdf, this is when I began to notice major discrepancies between the book and pdf content.

P31 question 5 Asks which domain accounts for the lowest percentage.
If you go off the information on P29 it is domain 1 13% as domain 3 is 14%, yet on P7 domain 3 is 10%

P34 question 19
On P15 there is some confusion as it states "You are allowed to stop the recording one time during your presentation" and further in the paragraph he states "Only in the classroom certification recording will CompTIA allow you to stop the recording twice"

However the one that has really angered me was in Chapter 3.
Having just read chapter 3 via the book, in the review section I was asked a question regarding "stage presence" comparing the book against the pdf there is a whole paragraph missing from the book... So how can I answer the question if only reading the book.

I have no faith in any of the material anymore and feel there is no consistence with either.
