I ordered a few mastering books along with this one and found it quite interesting but not mind blowing.

It features a good presentation of a mastering office, even if other books go a bit further in the environment and specs.
The main chapter features a lot of pertinent advices and techniques, described every time in a few lines but unhappily mixed all together : a bit of order wouldn't have bothered.
The last part features half a dozen interviews (or more?), some were quite interesting and relevant for my needs, others were completely into electrical/deep technical stuffs that I wouldn't read nor recommend.
Again, as said on my review of Audio Mastering - Essential Practices, I did not purchase those books to learn again on how a compressor works, so a bit disappointed there. The insights on EQ were nonetheless very instructive.
Altogether its a fair book, the format is handy and I guess everyone, from amateur to professional would find at least a bit of unexpected and enriching content in it.

Même sans être très bon en anglais, je m'en sort très bien. Il donne plein de référence d'outils, surtout orientés vers les plug'in.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Strong introduction and reference material for audio mastering 16 juillet 2013

I'm a novice to music production. I'd heard of mastering and mixing, but wasn't entirely sure of much more than that. I was delighted to find that Complete Audio Mastering is both an accessible introduction to audio mastering and a solid discussion of professional mastering techniques.

The book starts from scratch, introducing the key concepts behind mastering - why it's a necessary part of an album's creation, and what's involved from beginning to end. From there, he outlines equipment, techniques, and tips for avoiding common mistakes. No two mastering engineers will master the same track the same way, so trying to create a step-by-step from process beginning to end is like trying to describe how to paint a portrait. Instead, the author lays out the tools and techniques of his profession and describes what does and doesn't work.

My favorite thing about the book is how much I learned about just listening to music. Volume is key; Mr. Waddell mentions that increasing the volume just a fraction can completely change a listener's appraisal of a piece, which is why maintaining strict control of volume is important in mastering, and why the Loudness Wars resulted in poor mastering practices.

One word of warning: I wouldn't expect a novice to instantly know how to master. There are technical details that will likely go above the head of a beginner; I'd suggest reading this as a textbook alongside a course or an internship (Gebre Waddell discusses several possible 'next steps' in chapter 15.) But even if you don't plan a career in mastering, Complete Audio Mastering is a fantastic guide to what goes behind the scenes after an album is mixed. It's available on Amazon now through McGraw-Hill/TAB Electronics.

I am not a novice by any means but I will forever be a student at heart. I always like to read topics of interest, even if I am knowledgeable on the subject. I feel a good book keeps my skills sharp and/or there will be a few gems of information that I can fit into my artillery. Gebre Wadell's book "Complete Audio Mastering" is exactly this kind of a book! I find this book practical, direct, and well laid out. Highly recommended.

This is a well written book. It has a lot of factual information. I was impressed with how the author wove together the information and how every time I had a question he answered it in the next paragraph.

The shipping was very quick and the book arrived in perfect condition.

I think the Bob Katz book on mastering Mastering Audio Science Bob Katz is also very well written and would suggest that these two books would make a good way for the person thinking about getting into mastering to have an overview of the profession.
