As in their other collections, Delphi Classics treats us with a complete edition with all the public domain works, wonderful illustrations indexes and formatting, as well as insightful bonus criticism texts. Moreover their customer service is fast and efficient, providing free updates with extra features. Probably the best publisher of classic literature for the kindle : highly recommanded!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 An Excellent Purchase 12 mars 2012

An unequaled opportunity to discover, read and enjoy an author who, though known principally for a few great books like the "The Woman in White", "No Name", "Armadale" or "The Moonstone", has so much more to offer. It is all here and easily readable. Despite the number of novels and other works included in this edition, the book is easy to navigate with short, helpful introductions in some instances. One of my best purchases!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Wish I Had Know About This Guy A Long Time Ago! 26 octobre 2012
Par Fiddlin' Doc - Publié sur Amazon.com
For me, Wilkie Collins was one of the world's best kept secrets. Seems all standard English lit classes focus on Dickens and other major names we all know. But I didn't know Wilkie Collins, and it's my loss. What a grand writer! He was a contemporary of Dickens; in fact the two were close friends and collaborated on magazine articles, theatrical work and other creative endeavors. Not to blaspheme, but for me, Collins is a far superior writer to Dickens, the acknowledged master. Dickens' sentences are often too thick, to involved and convoluted for comfortable reading. Collins has a touch of that, but only a touch. Mostly he is, considering the Victorian period in which he lived and wrote, very lucid and marvelously creative. He is not a short story writer. It has taken me more than a month to get through No Name, a wonderful novel that could be turned into a fabulous soap opera or full length film! It was well worth the time spent. In fact, it was one of those books for me that I couldn't wait to get back to when I had to put it down for a while. Now I've grabbed a bunch more Collins from Amazon -- and mostly for free. It'll be two years, I'll bet, before I have to order another Collins volume. Try him out if you don't know him already. You may love him as much as I.

Thank you Delphi Classics for these generous and brilliant editions. I confess that Wilkie Collins was a real gap in my reading background, but no more. He is a wonderful discovery to be savored along with Dickens and Trollope. In our world of chaos, what an unbelievable treat to have Delphi Classics and their noble editions.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great reading! 28 mars 2014

I enjoy the old style of writing and the pure fun of reading a book which can actually tell an interesting, descriptive, suspenseful story without the use of four letter words and descriptive sex or violence from beginning to end. This author, credited for writing the first mystery ever written, could tell a story equally satisfactorily from either a woman's or a man's point of view, with the humor and sensitivity that I appreciate. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but for those who enjoy a cleaner, finer style of writing and a glimpse of 19th century ways, I highly recommend it as excellent entertainment.
