Very useful, practical tips 2 mars 2011
Par Techno - Publié sur Amazon.com

Do not judge a book by its cover - this book is ample proof of that statement. The cover is bland, and there is no "Buy this now!!" gimmick or "How to become successful in consulting beyond your wildest dreams" on the cover. When I bought this, I didn't know what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised. The author, Lew Sauder, has dissected the finer points of consulting at a minute level, and has succeeded in providing some golden tips in a refreshing "brain-friendly" format. I have been consulting for many years now, and yet was able to pick up more than a few valuable tips from the book.

The book has 101 tips, as the title suggests. The author has written most of the tips in a case study/analysis format, which makes it very easy to digest. Since most of the case studies are based on his personal experience (according to his blog and profile, he started his consulting career with Ernst & Young), there is minimal fluff. In many of the tips and case studies, Mr Sauder deals with the subtleties and nuances of consulting which make all the difference between having an average consulting career and having a stellar career. You will find it hard to find such practical and useful tips in any of the more famous "Get started in consulting" kind of books.

This book will be most useful for (a) the "newbies" who are eager to chart their own path in consulting, but need practical guidance, and (b) those who have experience, but want to learn the tips and tricks which separate the men from the boys in the consulting field.

Advice That Is A MUST KNOW For Anyone In Business-Not Just Consultants 7 février 2011

I happened to discover this book by chance, but it really intrigued me. After reading the book I was completely satisfied with the content and it did not disappoint. To be honest, the advice and wisdom in this book is something that carries over to every person in a professional career. If you are just entering the workforce you can learn something. If you are already in the workforce you can get some great refreshers and strategies on how to "up your game". I would highly recommend this book for any person who is just graduating from college, looking for a new job, or trying to make a positive impact on their business skills. One other thing that I can say is this: Consultants really have to be focused because one little deviation from a professional attitude can have a toppling effect that is not good. It is easy to see why so many businesses value a first class consultant; it's not an easy job.

This book is a great reference for individuals that are new to consulting, or even those that have been in the industry for a while. It is such a quick read with short examples, that reviewing from time to time can renew your focus on reaching your objectives. Good, quick, and easy to read, this book serves as a pocket guide for the intangible traits that define success in various industries.

Loving it. Really great insight into the type of things to look out for in consulting. Finding myself reliving some of the case studies, or seeing how others could be possible if you don't watch out for them.
