Présentation de l'éditeur

"An exciting, engrossing tale of greed, deceit and
murder" THE KIRKUS REVIEW
When a Harvard Architecture School superstar plunges off the balcony
at a graduation party, the police see an accident, not foul play. But
fellow-student Iris Reid knows that any jealous member of the ruling clique
would have relished pushing him off. Twenty years later, a reunion is
luring the same cast of characters back to Cambridge. The opening night
dinner is being held in a Modernist house that Iris has designed. She hopes
to untangle the events that led to her friend's death. But the murderer has
other plans. When a long-ago boyfriend turns up dead the night of the
dinner, all the incriminating evidence points to Iris. What began as an
attempt to avenge her old friend turns into a desperate race to avoid being
framed by the clever killer—a killer capable of twisting the truth into a bloody
conundrum.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Ripping Good Story 25 juillet 2013

I was at a dinner party in North Cambridge where the other guests were all discussing Conundrum. I had not read it so I downloaded it as soon as we got home. After that, I was not able to put it down. In fact, I read late into the night and the much of the next day. The characters are smart, witty, and real. Iris would be an excellent friend and everyone should have an Ellie in their lives. I wish I lived in Cambridge and could join them for afternoon strolls around Fresh Pond followed by lattes in a local cafe. The style of the book reminds me of the smart Brit detective stories that I enjoy - ala Inspector Lewis (in the other Cambridge). Because I know less than I wish about truly good food and even less about good architecture, I was very grateful for the dictionary feature on Kindle, but I consider books that teach while also telling a ripping good story to be above average reads. I look forward to the next Iris Reid installment!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Great Read!!! 3 avril 2012

I want Iris Reid as my friend. Sure, she's a little insecure and talks to her basset hound, but she exchanges witty banter with her friend about putting the moves on the hunky neighborhood chef, and when she has a chance to get some justice for her murdered friend, she doesn't hesitate. Add to that her job of designing houses and her brown belt in karate--I want to BE her! I also want to move to her neighborhood. Cambridge is evoked in all its quirky glory, with coffee houses, the "T", neighbors who drop by, and periodic street cleaning announcements from roving trucks. Ms. Cory does a great job creating this world and weaving an amusing, twisty plot that had me suspecting each one of the ego-centric classmates from her architecture class, back in town for their twentieth reunion. The ending teases us with a glimpse into Iris' activities in the next book. I can't wait.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great insider read! 22 juillet 2013

As a resident of Cambridge and a fan of good building, I was hooked! Such an authentic lens into the rivalries among graduates of the venerated HSD (Harvard School of Design). The book is well-written with fully developed characters whose chatter make you want to join the conversation. I didn't guess the ending but, in retrospect, it made sense. I look forward to picking up with these characters' lives in the next installment of the series.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 CONUNDRUM is a wonderful read! 24 mai 2012

CONUNDRUM is a wonderful read about a compelling architect/detective Iris Reid. Author Susan Cory does a great job capturing the beautiful and quirky ambiance of Iris' north Cambridge neighborhood. The story gives a fascinating insider's perspective to the practice of architecture and the sociology of Harvard's Graduate School of Design. A group of intriguing friends, colleagues, and ex-classmates along with entertaining dialog and a well-constructed plot keep things moving. I look forward getting to know Iris and her friends more closely in the next one...

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Don't believe the haters... 2 mai 2014

I continue to be amazed at the negative reviewers out there that either didn't read the book or only read part of it and felt they still could/should leave a negative review. This book was wonderful and a fast and fun read. It is a basic who dun it with enough mystery that you don't figure out who the killer is until they end. It had a budding romance which would have been nice if it had been explored a bit more. Many funny cast members but not so many to be confusing. It was very well written and NOT jumpy and NOT written like a college student. I would highly recommend for a quick read.
