Présentation de l'éditeur

When paramedic Nick Swain responds to a shooting in a seedy neighborhood, his entire world is thrown off its axis. His life is threatened…twice. Allegations of racism and medical neglect threaten his career and his ability to sleep at night. Not that he’ll be sleeping any time soon after the incident throws him into the path—and arms—of Detective Andrew Carmichael.

One hot night after another with Andrew may help Nick relieve some work-related stress, but sex won’t solve every problem in his life. With the media hounding him and the city watching his every move, he starts to wonder if the world is out to get him.

The world may not be out to get him, but someone is.

And that someone wants Nick dead.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Paramedic and Detective M/M Relationship and So Much More. . . 27 septembre 2014
Par Daniel Bowen - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
NOTE: This book was first published in 2010 (RE: Goodreads) So no, this isn't a new publication but a reprint of an older book.

Yes, I did wonder why there weren't many reviews.

Cover Me by L.A. Witt was a well written story that focuses on Nick Swain, a paramedic. His life revolves around his job which messes up all his relationships. The stress of the job, the co-workers, difficulties of dealing with bureaucrats as well as city budgets are realistic and eye opening. There isn't an agenda but an honest telling of what life is like for a paramedic.

Enter Detective Andrew Carmichael and there's instant attraction. While their relationship progresses very quickly, both Nick and Andrew are in professions where they live in the present. They go for what they want and realize it's an outlet for the stress of their job. . . But their relationship grows and they rely on each other. In Nick's case it's for safety and in Andrew's case he finally found someone that understands him in every way. It was an excellent example of why this relationship can work compared to so many statistics of cop marriages that don't.

This is a m/m hookup that works into a relationship. There are a few tender moments which notches up the romance. There are more than enough bedroom scenes to know they have . . . compatibility. Yes. So like any ambulance chaser and detective novel there are bad guys and situations. The plot is well written, the motives and reasons well explained. I always appreciated paramedics and after reading this book. . . Even if it is fiction. . .It is based on facts. Yes the job is risky. Yes they don't get paid well yet they do an excellent job and my admiration for them is even stronger. - Dan's Wife

5.0 étoiles sur 5 So far, so good... 29 septembre 2014

I am not finished with this book. I'm only about half done. However, I feel confident enough at this point that I can rate this. I don't review as much as I should. I always get distracted. This book has an interesting story so far. I'm not trained medically, so I can't say anything about the EMT portions of the book. The love scenes are not distractingly detailed. They are satisfying. The thing I really enjoy is that the two male leads don't seem like thinly disguised women in male bodies. I've read a few M/M books where one or both of the men were nothing more than women in men's clothing. I hate that. No matter how feminine the man, or masculine the woman, in real life they are still intrinsically distinct genders mentally. I don't want to read a book where the man is more of a girl than I am. This book hasn't done that to me. It's written in first person which isn't my favorite, but it's done well enough that I don't really notice it. There haven't been major issues with grammar. I'm enjoying it enough I will buy the next in the series.

All right. I finished the book. It remained good to the last page. I enjoyed the tension and didn't feel the incidents went over the top. I sympathized with the characters and thought they grew during the story. It went from a one night stand to a relationship and ended on a happy for now standing. This isn't one of those damned cliff-hanger books. This book stands on its own, but the over-arcing story continues in the next book. This is a proper series, not serial. I like series, but hate serials. I still feel this book deserved a five star rating and I will continue with the series as I enjoyed it enough to invest more time into the people/story/writer. Good job!
3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good, but a bit slow sometimes 27 mars 2015

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, both main characters are likeable, and the chemistry between them is amazing. I love the sex scenes, they are raw and intense, and Nick and Andrew personalities seem to complement each other amazingly. But on the other hand, sometimes I felt the rhythm was a bit slow, the story seemed stagnated in Nick’s head, what with him rehearsing the dialogues and scenes in his head… I understand he is traumatized and tormented by his supposedly wrong decisions, but sometimes too much anguish and questioning gets a bit tiresome… Above all if you are repeating the same scene again and again. Fortunately, the last chapters make up for the lacking of tension with some frantic action, eventually culminating in a very satisfactory HEA.
All in all, I enjoyed the book, even though sometimes I felt a bit stranded in a story which wasn’t going anywhere. Quite good.

This book was sooo good! I think what I liked best was that the love scenes and sex scenes felt different than you normally see from any romance books. They were described in a manner that made you feel every move was important and meaningful. The main character, Nick, held the first person POV for the entire novel. It took you through his perspective of all his issues and experiences. The second thing I liked best was that there was story here outside of the love story and it was woven implicitly together. The love and the plot went together and neither would happen without the other. Plus, if you love hot first responders - this was it!! Just very well written and edited. Witt's style really made me think and kept me involved in the story... Yes, I bought the next book, Trust me!

Fabulous. Excellent writing. This story had all the elements I enjoy in the m/m genre. I became involved with the MC's feelings from the start and loved Nick and Andrew's interaction and their hot scenes together. I felt their longing for each other as they fell in love and their need to be together. Tense and full of suspense, the story was not predictable although I knew something 'bad' would happen at some point. The only thing I would say is that some of the dialogue could have been more concise, but apart from that I LOVED this story and will definitely read the others in the series.
