Présentation de l'éditeur

Killing vampires is easy. Trusting one will be the hardest thing Dahlia Sabin has ever done.

Dahlia has lived a lonely existence as a killer of the undead. Known as The Blushing Death to those that fear her, Dahlia uncovers a plot by Columbus’s Master Vampire, Ethan. He intends to raise a demon from the depths of hell to destroy the city, cement his power, and take control.

In her pursuit to stop a demon from manifesting, Dahlia sinks deeper into the city’s supernatural underworld and discovers that vampires are not only deadly; one in particular could be dangerous to her very soul and her heart. Patrick, the Master vampire’s second-in-command with dark penetrating eyes and a cool, deadly sophistication, can’t stay away and Dahlia can’t tell him no. There’s something that neither of them knows, Ethan wants Dahlia’s unleashed power for himself and is willing to do anything to get it.

Dahlia is in a race against time to send the demon back to hell, at war with her better judgment, trusting a dark and intriguing vampire with his own agenda, while struggling to save her own neck. As the portal to hell opens, Dahlia has only herself to rely on in order to survive, if she can …

I usually like my urban fantasy a bit lighter than this one, but the dark here was good. There was some snark - which was good for me, since it helped ease the dark and the horror elements. I liked the relationship development and loved Dahlia. Hope there are more Dahlia books soon!

Pool of Crimson is an urban fantasy...and everything I like in my books! Suzanne M. Sabol really did it for me with this book. Dahlia is another one of those kick a** chicks that I enjoy to read about. A lone vampire hunter in Columbus, Ohio, Dahlia knows there are things that go bump in the night, even if she cannot spread the word to anyone else. Dahlia palms a talisman off of a vampire in a fight, not knowing that what she holds is the key to a huge plot contrived by the Ethan, the Master Vampire, to raise a demon...and take over the city. On the way to find out exactly what the talisman is and what it means, Dahlia meets Jade, a rich girl with the knowledge that Dahlia needs, but the naiveté that monsters don't exist. Dahlia meets her match in Ethan's second in command, Patrick. Dahlia wants nothing to do with a vampire, but Patrick wants her...and her body wants him. Throw in a werewolf hottie and his pack and you have the makings of a supernatural free-for-all. Not that Dahlia is an ordinary girl, she has a dark past, horrid childhood memories, and a well full of power that she does not know how to tap. Dahlia isn't exactly human, but then again, she doesn't know what she is.

Pool of Crimson rocked my world. It is as simple as that. I am a big fan of Kim Harrison and the like and I think Pool of Crimson and the rest of the series when it comes out has the potential to be right up there on my list of faves. I enjoy kick a** heriones and their sidekicks and you can't beat a book full of the supernatural. The quirky characters and the sarcastic byplay between them just made the book. I love the character interaction and how the book almost feels real, because you feel like you have made new friends because you get to know and like them so much. Don't forget the steamy sex and the give-me-shivers action between Dahlia and the male characters. Wow! I also liked that every vampire was not super sexy. It made it more real. I can't wait for the next installment in this wonderful book. I am extremely curious to find out just what is going on in Dahlia's world. All-in-all this book is not to be missed. I give this book 5 stars because I loved it...and it is my kinda book!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Snarky fun Urban Fantasy 16 septembre 2012

Columbus, Ohio has a dark side. Dahlia is a vampire hunter who has done enough damage to the vampire community to earn the title, "the Blushing Death."
When she encounters a mysterious talisma, she is thrust more deeply into the world of vampires, meeting Patrick, the first vampire to attract her. But Patrick isn't the only gorgeous male in her life, she also dips her toes in the werewolf genepool with Danny.
Snarky Dahlia investigates, parties and slays like the best Urban Fantasy heroines. I enjoyed the byplay between Ms. Sabol's quirky characters and look forward to getting to know Dahlia better. I'll be eager to snap up book 2 in this engaging new series.

It seems that attempting to have a life away or even a moment to enjoy a gallery opening is an impossible feat for the scourge of the vampire community and Dahlia is not called The Blushing Death for nothing. Pool of Crimson opens up with Dahlia at the gallery when vampy vibes caress her neck, her hand reaches down and she inconspicuously withdraws the stake . . . and we're off on one delightful urban fantasy romp with nonstop action, vampires, shifters, and demons Oh My!

We are introduced to a wonderful cast of characters that are really well crafted with plenty of twists and turns, disappointments, and triumph. The world building is so realistic that frankly I will be peaking down the adjacent alleyways prior to entering an event in the future just to make sure there are no baddies lurking there. I have to admit that Pool of Crimson offers and delivered everything my little urban fantasy loving heart could desire with plenty of kick heine action, a savvy no-nonsense heroine, and could there be lurve or perhaps some heated smexy feels in the wings.

This is not a new book and I wonder where it has been, as it certainly has not gotten the UF Fan attention it deserves. In fact I enjoyed it so much I hopped over and picked up book two Midnight Ash and am looking forward to Dahlia's next adventure; from what I could find in my research there are at least five books in the series currently available so no waiting to keep the journey going. I would definitely recommend this book to urban fantasy fans that enjoy plenty of action, a smart savvy heroine, and deliciously bad baddies all rolled into a well crafted tale. I received this book with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.
4.0 étoiles sur 5 4 stars - Pool of Crimson by Suzanne M. Sabol 13 octobre 2014

Pool of Crimson is the first book from Suzanne M. Sabol’s Blushing Death series, and I’m so glad I was able to be apart of the blog tour for this book. I was introduced to another author through Paranormal Cravings Books Tours and brought back to reading one of my favorite genres, Urban Fantasy.

In Pool of Crimson, readers are introduced to the main character, Dahlia who reminded me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer because she is a killer of the undead. She’s the feisty, kick-ass female character that supernaturals are scared of and she’s on a mission. She needs to know why the Master vampire, Ethan wants to raise a demon from hell, and she has to figure it out by putting herself into sticky situations. In the mince of dealing with what the Master Vampire has up to his sleeves, she is dealing with Ethan’s second in command showing an interest with her. She can’t stop herself from being intrigued by the second in command as well. Life is going to get even more trickier when she realizes she’s something that intrigues a lot of the supernaturals, but she has no idea why.

Suzanne opened up her series with a bang by having the novel start off as action-packed in the first chapter. There’s no slow build-up with the action because Suzanne puts Dahlia through a lot in Pool of Crimson. She also opened the series by introducing each of the characters that will play a role in the in the series. I loved every bit of how the story unfolded from the beginning to end because it kept me flipping through the pages in my Kindle.

I adored Dahlia’s character because she reminded me of my favorite 90s-00s character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was kicking butt a lot in this book, even when she was scared out of her mind. The best part about Dahlia is how she gave the supernaturals nicknames and some of the nicknames were crazy funny. (I love when humor is thrown in a book, even when it’s supposed to be a nerve-wrecking scene) The only thing that bothered me was how swiftly the ending happened. I was expecting a little more with the climax of the story. Maybe…I just wanted Dahlia to really give a slow pounding to the evil guys in the book. They kind of deserved it after what she went through. (Oh…but one particular scene was great…she deserved to give a certain someone a good butt-kicking) The epilogue did give a sneak peek on what is going to happen next to the characters. =)

I give this book 4 full moons and recommend it to Urban Fantasy readers out there. If you miss the show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (like I do), you’ll definitely need to check out the first book to The Blushing Death series.

I look forward to diving into the next book to find out what Dahlia has to deal with next. She’s one character that doesn’t let a bad day get to her.

I received a complimentary copy of the book for the blog tour from Paranormal Cravings Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.
