Hmm 31 octobre 2004

This album is definitely better than Bucketheadland 2. It's chock-full of powerful, funky metal. With the sort of double bass drumming on this album I don't mind a lot of it being drum machine. I'm in it for the guitar and the grooves. Sometimes this album is a little scattered and suffers from a sort of easily distractedness on the part of Bucket, but its solid Bucket thrashing his bucket off. If you liked Population Override and Electric Tears, be warned this is nothing like those albums. There seems to be three types of Bucket albums, hard serious albums (cuckoo), melodic slow albums (Tears), and silly annoying albums (BHL2). This one is worth buying.

Great!!! 11 mars 2006

Buckethead has released an awesome album in "The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell." This is a very unique album in that so many different styles are represented on this album from metal, to funk, blues, etc.. Buckethead is an extremely gifted guitar player and posesses great technical ability. He is right up there with today's virtuosos (i.e. John Petrucci) and can shred with the best of them, but what I love about Buckethead is that he chooses to explore and experiment with the guitar rather than getting caught up in one category, whether it be mindless shred (which can be great), releasing the same album every year, (cough, Malmsteen) or whatever.

If you are a fan of unique guitar playing or great guitar playing for that matter, by all means pick up this album. Buckethead is truly a refreshing guitarist who is not afraid to mix it up on this album.

With this CD, Buckethead just passed go, collected $200 and blew me away. The whole thing never slows down, it's a constant stream of metal insanity designed to warp your brain, and it rocks. A definate buckethead essential, order it today :D

He's Totally Crazy...And We're So Lucky 1 novembre 2007
Par Daniel Lisk - Publié sur Amazon.com

No doubt about it, B-Head is always going to do whatever his inner desire drives him to do, and we must bask in its glory. As with most fans, I appreciate all he does, but like different works in varying degrees. This means people who tend to like his acoustic-based material will probably think this disc is only good for playing when you want guests who've over-stayed their welcome to leave. I was intrigued by a review that suggested "death metal guitar" sounds, and to be sure the sound is REALLY HEAVY. But there's the added dimension of Bucky's energetic and frenetic musicianship that owns this disc. One reviewer complained "there's no guitar solos"...man, the whole damn thing is a guitar solo, only not in the traditional sense. The riffs morph into crazy sounding flurries of notes that hit you right over the head. No subtlety here, and combined with Brain's creatively mathematical drumming, it is truly not for the faint of ear. But, if the energy of such an excursion appeals to you, this might be your thing. There are a few mid-tempo pieces interspersed to help you catch your breath and led your ear drums recover. "The Black Forest" is an example of a track that is do downright quirky, I think it would make any Buckethead fan smile. If you are a fan of heavy guitar playing, you need this. If you really only like his acoustic offerings, be afraid, be very afraid...
