Présentation de l'éditeur

Many years after their daring escape from a divided Germany, Sabina and Matthew McCallum return with their son, Tad, to attend a conference on preaching the gospel of Christ in a country still scarred by the Cold War.

What they discover is troubling. Western Christianity, while well-intentioned, is not filling the unique needs of Christians in the war-torn East. And even though the Cold War is over, political strife is bubbling just below the surface—and Sabina and Matthew become entangled in a Communist plot to seize control of Eastern Europe. Once again, the couple must call upon their instinctive talent for survival—and their deep faith in God’s protection—to protect their family.

While studying at Humboldt State University in the early 70’s, Michael Phillips and his wife, Judy, established the One Way Bookshop—a small Christian bookstore catering mainly to other students. Now the bookstore is an important part of the Christian community in Humboldt County, and Phillips is one of the country’s most respected and prolific Christian authors.

Phillips’ long publication history includes over twenty non-fiction books, including biographies of Victorian author George MacDonald and Olympic athlete-turned-Congressman Jim Ryun. But he’s best known for his fiction—and is considered one of the major founders of the Christian fiction genre. In the past two decades, Phillips has written more than sixty fiction titles, many of which have been best-sellers. Altogether, his fiction, nonfiction, and devotional writings have sold over seven million copies worldwide.

The Wall came tumbling down. As the torch of communism burns out, the torch of faith egnites. The secrets of the rose is passed on from on generation to the next. Matthew, Sabrina, and their son Tad travel to Germany to participate in a gospel conference in the cold war era. They encounter some remaining links of the Network and become involved in another escape. Jesus said that those who follow him must be last of all and servant of all. The fragrance of the rose never dies. This a must read series. You too will discover the secrets of the rose

I have immensely enjoyed reading his books. I love the History he gives on the time period he is writing about. I am now in the process of reading his book called Dream of Freedom.
I love the prayer he prayed when he said, God, "infuse me with your perspective, your outlook, and your desire for me" His communion with his Father was unstructured and did not often form itself into specifically worded petitions. But that did not mean he was not a man of prayer. Never before has our country such a need for men of integrity such as he.
It does have violence but the type of violence is the war between the north and the south. As far as sexual content he only expresses true love between a husband and wife, Pure love such as theirs portrayed in his stories is light a breath of fresh air in this world of ours today.

I have read the Secret of the Rose series a number of times over the years and enjoy it just as much each time. I love the historical fiction aspect, but, even more, I love the people that Michael Phillips makes come to life generation after generation. I appreciate a great read without the sex, violence, lewd situations and language. There are far too few books written today without the author feeling the need to include content that is objectionable to many people. Thank you, Michael Phillips!

The final installment in this series takes place in 1989 when and directly after the Iron Curtain comes down. The main characters are now in their senior years and have grown children. In this book the main characters go back into Germany. There are some deep and serious spiritual implications in this book which make the church in America think twice about what it has become. Overall this was a thought filled and exciting journey beginning in the 1930's and ending in 1989.

YES! I thought the next book in the series couldn't beat the last one - but this one did! The last was as good or better than the first! What a great way to learn history - and to see how faith can be living! The entire series was AWESOME! And the last was a bonus, because we don't often hear the truth of what was happening during that time period! VERY GOOD!!! I would HIGHLY recommend to all!
