I have had a couple of good reads over the months, but Dead or Alive capped a year of good reads. Fast-paced, well written and rich with characters that stand out on their own, Dead or Alive is a gripping read. It is best enjoyed if you have read Clancy's other works which feature some of these fascinating characters.
The setting introduces the reader to a world that many of us are not familiar with, but the plot made it so easy to settle into that I kept turning pages with little. The book reminds me of the thriller Triple Agent, Double Cross. Clancy's effective use of dialogue and narration made the plot even clear for a book of this length.
Overall, Clancy proved that he still has a lot of beautiful stories to tell, and fills us with details that few writers can come up with.
