Présentation de l'éditeur

On September eleventh of 2001, Alan Flarke was in a motel with his girlfriend, not in his office, when the planes hit. He took advantage of the situation and killed the girlfriend, then disappeared with five million in company funds. With money and fake identities, his life became a no rules game. When he was spotted jogging in Chicago by a former neighbor, Maria Hart, Chicago?s pluckiest red-headed insurance investigator gets called in. The more she investigates, the more she takes the case personally. And, the more she learns about Alan Flarke, the more she realizes he?s become a socio-pathic killer.

Hello to my friends in France. I won't write this in French, as I do not wish to insult your beautiful language with my horrific grammar. I think my French is better than it actually is so I'll stick to butchering the English language as so many people have accused me of doing. If you are reading this biography because you have read one of my books, thank you. If you are considering a book, thank you as well.

I was born in 1955 in the mid-Hudson region of New York State and my childhood was relatively normal. I married my trophy wife Teresa in 1977 and we have four children. Our three girls are married and we have five grandchildren (one more in the process of adoption). Our son is single. I teach History at our local high school and plan to retire in five years. Prior to teaching I was a professional photographer. My hobbies include travel (visiting the grandchildren), grilling, reading, writing, eating and sleeping.

I have two series of books. The Maria Hart series has four novels and I started them when my daughter lived in Chicago. I spent a couple of weeks a year visiting her and while there I looked around and used local settings for the books. From what people have told me I used my wife as a pattern for the character of Maria Hart.

The Port City Mysteries take place in North Carolina where two of my daughters live, and where we spend our summers. If Maria Hart was based on my wife, then I used a bit of myself as the pattern for Ian Wallace. Ian is half Scottish and half French and makes his living as a food writer and photographer, and he wears a kilt frequently.

I like to look at the absurdities in everyday life and poke a bit of fun at them, that includes clichés. My characters are often quirky exaggerations of human nature and people I have met, and so have you. My goal is to create people who seem real, act real, and interact as real people do. I also write the way I talk, and the way I hear people talk. I like to listen to people speaking to each other while in line at the post office or in restaurants.

I have a blog mariahartmysteries.blogspot.com and I write a restaurant review blog as well burgersandbrewsfoodreviews.blogspot.com

I loved this book! It kept me on the edge of my seat, but made me laugh so hard I fell off it. There are lots of plot twists and red herrings.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Not your typical female detective 30 avril 2007
Par Steve
I had the pleasure of reading Dead Men Don't Jog when it was given me by my wife. Now I generally read mysteries and suspense books featuring strong male detectives. I don't usually like mysteries featuring female detectives as they tend to try to show the lead character as a hard-boiled woman, which does not come off all that well, but I liked the main character of this book, Maria Hart. She is a woman who is devoted to her husband and family and has a sense of justice and morality that comes through. She also deals very well with men without having to have a sense of bravado, or sleeping with them. There is real potential here for a successful series. I also liked the story where a man who was supposed to be at work on September 11th was not in his office, but rather in the arms of his girl-friend. I often wondered about that possibility. The author took this premise and created a rather suspenseful, and often humourous, tale. By the way, my wife loved the book and is now reading the sequel, Eliminating the Middleman.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Oh so boring and no proofreading. Total disgrace 26 juillet 2012
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
I've recently acquired a Kindle and it's a good job this was not the first book I read with it otherwise it would have put me right off. This book is riddled with typos. I felt I was reading an essay written by my 15-year old son given the style was so poor. The idea behind the book was great, which is what enticed me to order it but it has been totally misshandled by the author. There is no plot. As to Maria Hart, it's a good job I don't know her, as I would strangle her with great pleasure, do-gooder that she is. Sickeningly religious heroins are definitely not for me. A total waste of space.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 The price was right! 27 juillet 2012
Format:Format Kindle
Yes, entertaining, but does not deserve to be purchased at a price higher than 1€. The storyline was original, but then the development of it as well as a lot of clichés definitely calls for a very average rating.
