Présentation de l'éditeur

Donovan Grant lost his mind, his wife, and his career. Now he may be losing even more. Lately, and with distressing regularity, he’s been finding himself standing over dead people while holding the murder weapon. Even worse, he’s his own prime suspect. And that new woman in his life? She may be next on his list . . . that’s if he’s not on hers.

From Publishers Weekly: An Agatha Christie inspired confection stays true to its roots, with enough clues and plot twists to keep the reader guessing until the end . . . . The novel is airy fun, carried by its two likable and witty central characters.

Donovan Gauche Othello Grant is not your average pilot. To begin with, he shouldn't even be a pilot - he lacks the necessary requirements to fly a plane under pressure, specifically the ability to make decisions. That's right, he can't make decisions. At all. Even if it meant the deficit of pleasure, he cannot make a decision due to his PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In the right hands one could have a little fun with him; for example, getting your way by backing him into a corner by making him choose a beverage until he gives in. In the wrong hands, well... Let's save the surprises for the reader.

Grant is incontestably the most entertaining and tangibly developed character I've read this summer. He's a charming, quick-witted, sardonic thrill to read, and his occasional self-depreciation only makes him more of a treat. Once reality blurs with delusion, so too do the dead and the living until Grant can't even trust himself, nor can you, the reader, trust that he's either the hunted or the hunter; the next victim, or killer of the last.

The story picks right up and never will you see a dull moment. For me, the trolley had hit the gold mine when the bewitchingly charismatic and illustrious Kelly LaBrecque steps into the picture, bringing with her all of the incredibly appetizing details about our 'Christie Suspects'.

The swordfish was just gravy on an already superb read. DECISIONS is that summer blockbuster that Kindle has been dying to publish, and an absolute MUST-HAVE for mystery veterans, and even those who are completely new to the genre.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Over the top hilarious! 18 janvier 2008

Mr. Wicker's premise, a murder mystery in which the protagonist,Doug Grant, suspects he may be the killer, is very sharp. What one may not glean from the synopsis, however, is that Mr. Wicker's portrayal of Grant is over the top hilarious! Enjoyed every minute of this read.

I downloaded this book because one of my high-school chums recommended it on Facebook. I am in the middle of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest but decided to put it down to read this book only because Doug Wicker happened to contact me through my friend's Facebook posting. I can not remember when I ever read a book cover to cover until last evening. I could not put it down. Every page contains twists and turns. The lead character and his fateful story grips you from the very first page. I laughed, I cried and I was on the edge of my chair all at the same time. I am a huge mystery fan, especially murder mysteries. This is one of the best books I have ever read. It ranks with the likes of Nelson DeMille and Sue Grafton. While I was expecting lots of blood and violence, it was tempered with humor and sensitivity. Don't pass up the opportunity to add this book to your Kindle library. I can't believe it will continue to be offered at such a low price.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Donovan made up my mind--I was going to laugh out loud at this one 27 janvier 2008
Par R. Kyle - Publié sur Amazon.com
Donovan Grant is a pilot who used to work for the Feds, but ended up out on disability. Now, he's in Fiji--enjoying the good life.

We have two scenes here with many of the principal actors repeating. One pre-flight where Donovan cannot drink and the other where he can.

"Decisions" made me laugh, which is a very good thing. The witty repartee between Donovan (Don, Van, etc) and the girls was good.

Donovan's voice was also interesting. I enjoy male written male point of view characters who really expose what they think.

What I wish was that the author gave me more of a vacation while I was reading this. With this excerpt being dialog heavy, I heard what was being said, but I didn't see the place as well or get much other sensory input.

I'm not sure where this excerpt is going, but I'd be willing to read a few more pages to see. Any book that can make me laugh 2-3 times in 18 pages is worthwhile as a mood-brightener alone.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Take me away, Donovan! 16 janvier 2008
Par Amazon Customer - Publié sur Amazon.com
As a mom who also works full-time, what I like to read for myself is something that can grab and keep my attention, engage my interest fully and let me escape for a short time to recharge. Well-written, fast-paced, effective foreshadowing, focused on the interaction between the characters and not filled with long boring passages of palm trees, and a protagonist that immediately comes across as likable because - not in spite - of his own human concerns and foibles, Decisions looks like its one of THOSE books! I'm already curious to read more.
