Revue de presse

"Matt Scarpino has succeeded where scores of others have failed--he’s managed to make the formidable EAGLE software understandable and, more importantly, useable. His presentation is not only approachable and logical, but it’s complete. When you’ve finished his book, you’ll be able to do something meaningful with EAGLE. This book belongs on every engineer’s bookshelf or tablet."
--Bryan Bergeron, Editor, Nuts & Volts Magazine

"Matt Scarpino’s Designing Circuit Boards with EAGLE is a great resource for electronics enthusiasts who are ready to get serious and produce their own circuit boards. Matt’s sensible instructions take readers through the steps to design simple and not-so-simple circuit boards, and you can really tell that he’s been using EAGLE for 10 years and loves it. I’m recommending this book to all my maker friends."
--John Baichtal, Author of Arduino for Beginners: Essential Skills Every Maker Needs

"With the rising popularity of open source hardware projects, the EAGLE circuit board software has become a vital tool for both hobbyists and professional engineers alike. Designing Circuit Boards with EAGLE provides all the information you’ll need to get up to speed with the EAGLE software, and to start creating your own circuit board designs. Matt Scarpino has provided a great tool for the hobbyist starting out in the circuit board design world, demonstrating all of the features you’ll need to know to create your own circuit board projects. However, the experienced engineer will also benefit from the book, as it also serves as a complete reference guide to all the EAGLE software configuration settings and features. His insightful guidance helps simplify difficult tasks in the EAGLE software, and his handy tips will help save you hours of trial-and-error experimenting in your circuit board designs."
--Rich Blum, Author of Sam’s Teach Yourself Arduino Programming in 24 Hours and Sams Teach Yourself Python Programming for Raspberry Pi in 24 Hours

This has potential, but alot of errors! 27 juin 2014
Par J. Chapman - Publié sur
Format: Broché
If your brand new to Eagle this book would have you very frustrated. There are alot of errors. The author really needs to correct the errors and get a new Kindle version out. I would not recommend buying this book. I have checked the website for erratas and there are none. Does this author care? Work thru the tutorials at Sparkfun and you will learn Eagle.

Great beginner book but needs more refinement 12 juin 2014

I love the book generally. It is well written and easy to understand and follow. It's a perfect starting point for Eagle beginners like me. I do agree with some of the other reviews though. Especially the last chapter about the complex Beagle Board should have been much longer and detailed. It's essentially just barely brushing on the topics without going into much detail. A complete example like the very good middle section of the book for the Femtoduino would have been great.
Overall I can still greatly recommend this book to anyone that has never touched Eagle (or PCB design) before. I'll give the second edition 5 stars if it fixes the above.

Matbe the 2nd edition will be better 22 mai 2014

Good try, but the books has several big errors such as an inverting amplifier that is completely wrong. Also, the description of multilayer boards was incorrect. I was disappointed chapter on creating libraries and components. This is one of the most difficult aspects of Eagle, and the chapter was no better or deeper than CadSoft's tutorial. Creating a vacuum tube device? Creating gates and packages is fine, but I would much rather seen a good example of creating a multi-gated device reusing gates and packaging already defined in Eagle libraries. Reusing gates and packages already defined is what most of us do.

Great beginner's guide 20 juin 2014

It's very well written and illustrated. Leads you through several progressively more complex projects to give you a good understanding of how to use Eagle. As a hobbyist with pretty minimal needs, just the first short project was very helpful. You can be laying out a simple schematic in about 30 minutes. Great for using the free version of Eagle.

If you go through the whole book, it takes you all the way to being able to submit files to a circuit board maker and have your boards made professionally. Wish I'd gotten this sooner.

Generally Good Book but not polished 5 juin 2014

Lots of good information can be obtained from this book. The author picks good examples.

However, the big main advanced example of the book that the author spends multiple chapters is a beaglebone black board, but the author warns not to try to actually build this because you won't be able to (parts cannot be obtained... whatever the reason). That, in my opinion, is a useless waste of time if a reader cannot actually build the example that the author wrote. The author should have picked something better.
