Présentation de l'éditeur

A Harry Potter Addict COULD BE ANYONE

A humorous take on a serious issue, Diary of a Harry Potter Addict captures the struggles of an anonymous Harry Potter fan coming to grips with life post-Harry Potter. Part diary, part clinical narrative, the book spans several years in the character's life, from the moment they first pick up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone through their exploration of ways in which to manage - and eventually make the most of - their chronic Harry Potter addiction.
Utilizing diary entries, original artwork and interviews with members of the International Quidditch Association and the Harry Potter Alliance, the book offers alternative ways to ease the pain of saying good-bye to old friends and goes great with a swig of Butterbeer.

"An essential part of any respectable Harry Potter collection... A national treasure." –Antiques Roadshow

"Not good. BRILLIANT!" -Rupert Grint (as Ron Weasley)

"A very interesting literary approach to the subject of Harry Potter Series End Disorder (HPSED)... These women are dangerous." –Dr. Juana Fuchenstein, DFA

"I laughed... I found it a loving tribute to the fanbase and the running dialogue is great. I need to mention that the cover is awesome!" -Josh Guerrero, ETS

"I do have high hopes and fired imagination that DIARY OF A POTTER ADDICT will serve as the second and last stepping stone between amusing proposals and compensated publications." –Michael Murphy, literary agent, tour guide, & putt-putt impresario

Biographie de l'auteur

Darby Romeo and Kerin Morataya are accomplished players in the pop-culture world. Darby created the landmark punk/music/culture magazine Ben Is Dead and has contributed to Vanity Fair, The Village Voice Literary Supplement, and Los Angeles Times; she also edited Lollapalooza's tour magazine. Overwhelmed with her success (ahem!), she sold her worldly possessions and ran away to an island. Today she spends her days catching waves, opening coconut husks with her teeth (with the help of her dog) and running the popular wahine surf/culture/eco site Coconut Girl Wireless. If someone calls her Wilkie she will respond. Kerin has contributed articles to Vanity Fair, Raygun, Playboy, Elle and was a major force behind Ben Is Dead. After doing time in the music industry, she moved to Chicago and became an art director at a couple of trade publications you've probably never heard of. She now resides in LA, works on a variety of collaborative creative projects (with the help of her cat) and hopes to one day become a contestant on Cash Cab. Oh and she once got stoned with 2-Pac. Admit it, you're jealous. Together, Darby and Kerin created the I Hate Brenda Newsletter and founded the band Rump. Whether or not they were intoxicated at the time is pure speculation. They've appeared on everything from CNN to The People's Court. Little Brown published an offshoot book from editions of Ben Is Dead entitled Retro Hell: Life in the '70s and '80s from Afros to Zotz. While both zines are defunct, The UCLA Arts Library has permanently installed The Darby Romeo Collection of Zines, housing a selection of some of the best publications from the '80-'90s underground 'zine movement. Today, Kerin and Darby are not-so-anonymous Harry Potter addicts, coming to terms with life after Hogwarts.

I laughed, I cried (with laughter), all that good stuff. Truly, truly funny, engaging and even understanding, well worth the price of admission. I only wish it was longer...or had an interactive website to go with it. Wait, it kind of does? On Facebook, you say?! Well, then, there you go. Perfection. If you, like me, do miss the world of HP, but feel kind of stupid because you're a grown-up and all, this is the book for you: I kid you not. If that is not a good enough reason to purchase, please be aware that much of the proceeds from sales are being donated to Japan's post-tsunami animal rescue efforts. Good Karma AND a good time.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Some funny bits, but it could have been better 10 septembre 2011

After the raving the reviews, I found this little book a bit disappointing. It had quite some funny bits, and some recognizable bits (yeah, I confess), but large chunks were dedicated to an interview with Andrew Slack of the Harry Potter Alliance, and Alicia Redford of the International Quidditch Association. Both interesting in their own way, but not very funny, and a bit too long imo (a total of 18 pages). I loved the chapter about Anonymous' visit to the Wizarding World. Shopaholic Harry Potter fan style!

I liked the chapter about replacing the Harry Potter craze with another series, like Twilight, but this chapter could have a bit longer, and more about books and more about, well, other things than just Twilight, Lord of the Rings, Anne Rice, True Blood and the Vampire Diaries. I mean, why would you try to overcome your obsession with books about a certain wizard by watching TV series about vampires. It doesn't really make sense. Not that the book was written to make sense, of course. But I would have liked to read the author's opinion about perhaps a half-god boy (Percy Jackson) or a dragon boy (Eragon). Or maybe something about those unfounded claims of plagiary by authors who happened to have used the word Muggles before the HP books were published, or who have written a book about a boy called Larry Potter.
Anyway, this book was alright, and I liked the basic idea but it could have been much better.

I recommend instead: Harry, A History (Melissa Anelli)

I have been searching for the longest time the name if this condition. I may not have suffered it to the extent of this, but I remember holding the deathly hallows in my hands and felt the emptiness. I went to the deathly hallows part two by myself and cried the entire time. I was only 21. I do have to apologize to the young teenaged girl that laughed at me when exiting the theater, but this was my childhood, my life, completely ending. I apologize for yelling at her that she didn't understand what I was going through. I sat I. The theater until they dragged me out of there. This book put every feeling about the magical world into perspective for me and I know that I will never be the same again. Thank you, truly!
