Présentation de l'éditeur

"This follow-up to the best-selling KISS GOOD NIGHT will comfort little ones like a cozy blanket that’s tucked in just right." -- BOOKLIST (starred review)

In the little white house, Mrs. Bear is putting Sam to bed, when suddenly -- HCK HCK! coughs Sam. Mrs. Bear gets some syrup. But the syrup tastes bad, and there’s too much of it on a too-big spoon, and it’s too hard to swallow. What will make Sam feel better? Acclaimed picture-book creators Amy Hest and Anita Jeram revisit Sam and Mrs. Bear as they share a quiet moment of comfort that is enough to conquer the coldest night.

Biographie de l'auteur

Amy Hest is the author of many books, including KISS GOOD NIGHT and WHEN JESSIE CAME ACROSS THE SEA, both of which received the Christopher Medal; and IN THE RAIN WITH BABY DUCK, winner of the Boston Globe- Horn Book Award. She says, "My kids are way bigger than I am now, but I remember some long-ago nights . . . and rushing to their rooms when things weren’t quite right. There were many hugs, of course. And occasionally, a dose of terrible-tasting medicine, then we watched the night sky."

Anita Jeram is the illustrator of the best-selling GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU by Sam McBratney and KISS GOOD NIGHT by Amy Hest. She is also the author-illustrator of I LOVE MY LITTLE STORYBOOK; BUNNY, MY HONEY; and ALL TOGETHER NOW. About DON'T YOU FEEL WELL, SAM? she says, "My children love the anticipation of a snowfall, and to see a ‘brand-new’ crisp, white landscape outside is like magic. Sam shares that magic with his Mama, and it helps him to be brave."

I don't know about your children, but my hate medications. What a suprise when 2 years old Emi said "I will be brave like Sam" Since I got the book we don't struggle anymore with meds. What a relief.

A joyful, feel-good book! 7 décembre 2003
Par Un client - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
Little Sam Bear just can't fall asleep; the cough in his throat is keeping him awake. When the love and cuddling Mrs. Bear shares don't work, she knows Sam needs medicine. Not wanting to take the cough medicine, Sam tries everything to convince his mom that he does not need it. "I don't have a cough!" Sam cries. "Taste bad," he explains. It's only when Mrs. Bear explains to Sam that after taking the medicine, they can go downstairs and wait for snow. Excited and brave, Sam swallows the syrup. All warm from the hot tea and cuddling, Sam is fast asleep when if finally snows.
The short tale of a sick cub and his loving mama is a wonderful book for all young readers. The way in which the author describes the setting is very inviting. Sam's red blanket is cozy, and his mama's belly is soft and wiggly as they snuggle in the big, purple chair while it snows. The pleasant setting will make any reader feel warm inside. The illustrations support this warm feeling. The soft colors bring out the best in both Sam and Mama Bear. This is a joyful, feel-good book!

Delightful story for wintertime 25 octobre 2002

This is the short tale of Sam who his mother has discovered has a cough. Sam's mama patiently negotiates getting Sam to take his bad tasting cough syrup from the too big spoon. Then they snuggle in and wait for the snow to come. This a great story to read to your kids quietly before snuggling into bed on a cold winter night.
A tender story about being taken care of when one needs it most 10 juin 2007
Par Midwest Book Review - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
Don't You Feel Well, Sam? is an award-winning softcover children's picturebook, about a sick little bear plagued with coughing just as it's time for him to go to bed. When Mrs. Bear tries to give him medicine, the spoon is too big for his throat and Sam can't swallow it. But when Sam thinks about the coming snowfall, his excitement grows so high that he successfully gulps the syrupy medicine down. A tender story about being taken care of when one needs it most, and the special bond between mother and child, ideal for reading aloud to sick children or right before bedtime.
How to get the kids better 3 septembre 2007
Par William Capodanno - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
A fun story. Sam, a little bear, has a cough is nursing back to health and is trying to get him to take his medicine. She promises to let him stay awake and watch the snowfall if he has his medicine. I have three children and they all get a kick out of this book. They like to participate reading the book by imitating Sam's cough. None of them like taking their medicine and the two older ones can relate to the many bargains we've made with them just to get the spoonful of medicine swallowed.
