I can't get enough of Scarlet an Sean!!! Once again, I couldn't put the book down and I am so glad it's not over yet and we will get more soon! Great plot, excellent writing, steamy, a pure moment of escapism... Go read this series if you haven't started yet, you won't regret it!

I have read books 1 - 18 in the Forever and Always Series, including the prequel. I am going to write my review based on the entire series, not each and every book.

Let’s start with the good parts. The story itself is really good. The characters draw you in. None of them are perfect, and you find yourself genuinely liking them for the good as well as all of their flaws. You start with the main couple Sean and Scarlet. If you are reading the series past the first couple of books, chances are it’s because this couple has drawn you in. Then the author starts to bring in other characters / couples. She tells the story from all of them at one point in time or another.

Sean and Scarlet
Ryan and Janice
Cortland and Monnique
Mike and Cassandra
Hazel and Flynn
Andrew and Diane

I’m a little frustrated that they all seem to have the same story line; as in the couples are together, then they break up, then they are together again. Out of the couples listed above, only one of them hasn’t broken up and gotten back together. And for spoiler reasons, I won’t state which one that is. Maybe this is a normal thing in society. Personally the story lines almost merge together sometimes. Example: 1 of the guys has a paternity issue, later in the series another guy has a paternity issue. It just seems like there are too many characters for each one to have unique problems.

Ok, for the bad; and I’m sorry but there is a lot of it.

One of the things is kind of stated above, too many characters share the same problems. It gets repetitious after 18 books. The story is still enjoyable so if you can deal with a sense of deja vu, I would still read them.

One of the issues I have with the series; and this may be a personal thing that isn’t shared; is that the couple that the series started with becomes almost an after thought. I like the other characters and I’d like to know what happens to them, and what’s going on with them…but I’d prefer to read it through Sean or Scarlet’s perspective. I think in book 18, you get 2 chapters from the main couple, and the rest is from the other characters. While I want to know what happens to them, I’m sick of bouncing back and forth from everyone else’s perspective. I am quickly losing interest in the entire series because when it comes down it to, there are several characters that could disappear and Id be ok with it.

The amount of errors in the books are awful. It would be a great drinking game. Find an error, take a drink…you’ll be drunk by the time the book ends (even considering each book gets shorter and shorter, but stays the same price). On one page, there was a character named Bryan; but the author calls him Brian, then Bryan, Brian, Bryan back and forth I think 6 times on ONE PAGE!!! How did the publishing company not catch that? At first I honestly thought there were 2 people with the same name. I have a business degree, and am the last person to critique or edit a book. I love my run on sentences and misspelled words…BUT I am not trying to sell anyone a book for $5 a piece. 1 or 2 errors per book are understandable. I know that sometimes when a book gets converted from print to e-format there are some things overlooked. One of the books was close to 180 pages and I had over 130 errors highlighted. These were just very obvious errors. I’m sure someone with a literature degree/background could have picked it apart even further. The errors are a huge thing for me because they stop the flow of the book. You stop yourself mid-sentence to re-read and make sure it said what you think it said. I started highlighting each error; I think you would be surprised at how many are in each book.

Pages, errors and price are big cons for me. The first book was free and it was over 300 pages. That got me hooked on the story. The second book was $3.99 and it had 259 pages. The 3rd book was the first at the $4.99 price point and it had 347 pages. To me, this is about average for a book. Book 4 was the first book that had less than 200 pages, and there hasn’t been a book since that has had over 200. It seems like the further you get in the series, the less you get in a book. Books 4 - 18 are all $4.99 each. Honestly, with the amount of errors in each book, and the amount of pages…$1 is the highest amount I think each book should cost. If the errors were fixed, I would go as high as $1.99 but not $5 per book, maybe combine 2 or 3 books together and it would be worth the $5 price point.

Below I have listed each book in the series and the number of pages each one has.
1 - 311 pages
2 - 259
3 - 347
4 - 189
5 - 181
6 - 190
7 - 179
8 - 163
9 - 179
10 - 147
11 - 160
12 - 150
13 - 138
14 - 138
15 - 149
16 - 144
17 - 144
18 - 141
Prequel - 28 pages

Honestly, if you want a good story line, and you are ok with the books becoming smaller and the amount of errors…this is a good series to try. If you get frustrated with errors, stay away from the series and don’t even get started on it. I am giving this book 2 stars because of the story line.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 I get lost and lose track of time reading this series! 18 novembre 2013

I didn't write a review for the 2nd book because I immediately started reading the 3rd book and just didn't take the time.

I've given all three of these books 5 stars. The story sucks you in and the characters are very well developed and there is never a dull moment. I just had to keep reading! Which is what good books should do! (And I'll try to write this with no big spoilers)

I must admit that I wasn't sure if I liked Sean that much, he screwed up a lot in the first book and screwed up in a ginormous way in the 2nd book. I did feel sorry for him but felt he deserved all he went through by being so stupid. Sorry, but I do feel that way, he did have inner thoughts of being happy seeing his engagement ring on Penelope in the 2nd book so I don't feel he was completely trapped miserably with her because of her pregnancy. So all the pain he felt after realizing he made a mistake and realizing he was duped and stupid, he deserved it. Yes I'm mean lol

Edge of love, near the end finally had me liking him more even though he was an a-hole in this one several times. Yeah, he was an a** when Scarlet was being unreasonable, but come on, after all she went through with him, for him and did for him, I just felt he could have been more understanding and have had more patience with her over their wedding plans and her feelings towards his mother. I mean honestly, a real woman wouldn't appreciate hearing her future mom in law talking to the ex on the phone or hearing her say that she thought she was a rebound or the rude way his mother kept bringing up Penelope. No woman would I don't think. Unless she was a saint!

Sean was an a-hole again I thought and over reacted to Scar being alone with his brother at the beginning of the book. I mean he blew up and said some awful mean sh** to her. He didn't even let her explain.

Lastly, Sean finally discovers a big Secret about Scar and Cortland, that they slept together in the first book. And boy does he get mad! He packs Scarlet's crap and makes her move in with Ryan. He did some pretty respectful things though during this time. He could have acted much worse but he handled himself well and took Scarlet's feelings into consideration after the initial shock wore off so I finally grew to respect him and finally start to really believe he truly loved her more than Penelope. (I must say I'm pretty sick of hearing about her) And near the end he started to find his inner Alpha male and was becoming more dominate even in their bed. Loved that!!! I think his conflicting feelings which ran soooooo long for Scarlet and Penelope turned me against him a lot. But by the end of this book I no longer felt he was hung up on the ex. Thank God.

There's a fourth book, and I'll read it to see the conclusion to this story. I LOVED the first book, really liked the 2nd and enjoyed the 3rd but I'm just not crazy about Sean. He's just not book boyfriend material for me personally. I didn't subtract from the amount of stars for these books for that because they are written extremely well! Fast paced. Lots of dialogue. I'm lost in this story while reading it... But I just don't like the Hero so much. But maybe I will after the 4th book if he continues to become more confident and assured in his love for Scarlet as this book was taking us there.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 More emotional than the last two of the series 20 novembre 2013

Finally Scarlet and Sean are happy but as soon as they touch ground in Connecticut the bliss is over. Over half the book is spent with these two bickering about everything from their wedding, family, running away, keeping secrets, mistrust or coworkers.

Let's start with them arriving at his family's estate. I get the mother cares about her son, but for a mother that has called her son's best friend her daughter for the last how many year's to become a cold witch to Scarlet is uncalled for. The mother claims its because she is worried it is a rebound. If that was her rationale then she should be coddling Scarlet worrying she will get hurt and yelling at him saying he will lose his friend. Instead Penelope's name was brought up every two seconds and the mother even called the ex while they were there. Actions + words were not equaling the truth. What's worse is the fact that Sean would rather protect Penelope his ex who lied, cheated and broke up his relationship with a baby paternity lie, rather than tell his mother what happened which would loosen the venom thrown at Scarlet, his fiancé. He should have gave his parents some of the truth; something. For someone to claim all this love for Scarlet, he should be protecting her from his mother's harsh words especially since this is the woman who is spending the rest of his life with him and as part of this family. Kuddos to the dad though. I absolutely loved all his comments toward the neighbor. Talk about hysterical.

Once back in Seattle the two of them just got worse. The fight over the wedding was completely dumb and why Sean was mad regarding Cortland was even worse. Don't get me wrong yes you would argue and be hurt but hello you two are getting married and if you can not work through this together you might as well call off the wedding now. In the past year all parties have made mistakes and time will need to heal wounds but the insanity made my head hurt. At one point I had to put the book down. Thank god it was all finally resolved.

However, despite all of the above there is a secret still lingering as Ryan still does not know about Janice and Sean and the story ends with a bang. Not that kind hehe but a "I didn't see that one coming" kind. Luckily 2014 is not far away to read what happens next.

On a side note to story itself for a new reader to this author I'd like to fill you in on the series. The first three books in the series were all released on the same day. I am not sure how she will release the future ones in the series, but in case you look at the release dates, like I do, this is not a goof. Also the author reached out to me and asked if I would read the 1st book as an ARC (advanced reading copy) for an honest review. I loved the story so much I had to buy the next 2. She is a great author and I have truly enjoyed reading something from a blooming star. She is detailed so you are never left questioning and if you think a situation or question has no closure beware.. it will happen even when you least expect it. It's an emotional adventure with some twist and turns to keep you wanting more.

I can't even get through this book before writing a review. The author starts really well with the first book despite the long winded sentences and cliched scenarios but everyone was more or less likeable. Things just go from bad to worst with each book. Sean is a complete douchebag, Scarlet is a desperate fool and neither of them have a grasp on what an adult relationdhip looks like. The sex scenes get terribly predictable and the grammatical errors frighten me. I ACTUALLY paid for this. The writing is so pedestrian I'm scoffing and eye rolling as I attempt to finish this crap story. Scarlet is called a "brat" enough times to last me a lifetime and the characters aren't complex or that interesting so why isn't the sex smoking and plentiful??? Im clearly not here for the resounding tale telling! Do yourself a favor and go read similar genre but much better written Driven or deep soul searing content and passion in The Bronze Horseman.

So disappointing. The drama was over the top and completely unnecessary. This book made me really dislike Sean. He lets his family treat Scarlet like absolute garbage and goes out of his way to protect Penelope. Why??? Then he finds out Scarlet slept with Cortlandt when they were NOT together and proceeds to treat her like dirt for weeks. REALLY??? After everything Scarlet forgave him for??? She needs to find herself a real man - not a hypocritical piece of garbage!! Ugh!! Definitely will NOT be reading the next installment!
