A good blend of word and artwork to illustrate how to look at the world around us. 24 mai 2015
Par Rob Natiuk - Publié sur Amazon.com
There are countless versions of this story, particular when it comes to the artwork. I appreciate the illustrations by Paul Degen because he retains the feel of the old kingdoms and their rulers, particular this king who was so easily misled because of his pomposity. Because this book is for pre-schoolers and first-second graders, the king never becomes totally naked (as in some books) but at the least has on his underwear!

The adult reading this story to a child might help to bring out the most important lesson. If you don't look at things with the real eyes of a child and keep pretending something is when it isn't, then you're going to get taken advantage of by the crooks in this world.

Always a worthwhile and timely lesson. Could lead to a good discussion even with little tykes about how to look at reality in their life. Could apply to TV, advertisements, how stores display things, what people say, etc.

Wonderful Illustrations from Virginia Lee Burton 3 avril 2015
Par Miss Barbara - Publié sur Amazon.com
This is a story known and loved by kids (and their parents) since it was first printed in the mid 1800's. The moral of the story still rings as true today as when Hans Christian Anderson first put pen to paper. What sets this book apart from all of the other versions in print are the wonderful illustrations of Virginia Lee Burton.

Virginia tells the story with whimsy and wit. You can spend hours just looking at her drawings. This is a classic book for your child that will also teach a good lesson about the "Yes Men" they will encounter in life.

I had a Thumbelina book like this when I was a little girl. I didn't realize there was a series of these colorful, unique books published. This one is charming. The color illustrations are bright and fun. The book is in excellent condition. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. It arrived very quickly and the price was great! These books can be hard to find and very spendy. I am looking forward to collecting more of these books to share with my grand daughter.
