Présentation de l'éditeur

Originally published in 2005, this second, expanded edition of Ethics for Behavior Analysts is a valuable resource in preparing behavior analysts for the difficult task of providing quality services. Specifically, this book is useful to behavior analysts who are working in the clinical, educational, and rehabilitative fields with clients who are developmentally disabled, are on the autistic spectrum, or have a variety of moderate to severe behavior problems that require treatment by experts using the latest evidence-based methods. The content is organized around the Behavior Analyst Certification Board Guidelines, and contains detailed ethical scenarios designed to get readers thinking about potential issues and dilemmas that may arise within their work. Responses to Case Scenarios are found at the end of each appropriate chapter, along with valuable tips found throughout the text.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Essential reading for future BCBAs! 14 juillet 2013

If you plan to work toward becoming a BCBA, you MUST get this book! It is essential that all BCBAs know and understand their ethical responsibilities and how to handle some of the ethical challenges that can come about in the course of practice. A bit thick, terminology-wise, but it is geared toward graduate-level students so that is to be expected.

As a masters student in Behavior Analysis, this book is very helpful, and required. It gave many scenarios that were easy to follow and helped clarify some confusion. Definitely worth getting, especially if you are considering sitting for the BACB exam, as there are ethics questions on that test.

The book was for school. It was an easy read. I enjoyed the real life scenarios to connect ethical content to real life. Only reason not 5 stars is that I would not have naturally chosen this book to read.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Text Review 19 juin 2012
Par J. Jaruczyk Review - Publié sur Amazon.com
The text provides a clear overview of the ethical guidelines for behavior analyst set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Bailey and Burch accomplished the task they set out to achieve, which is providing a practical handbook for students describing ethical guidelines in an easy to understand text. The authors use real life case scenarios to present the guidelines in a applicable manner that help bring across why such guidelines are important to the field of behavior analysis. At the end of each scenario, the authors pose a question to the reader and at the culmination of the chapter provide a response to cases allowing the reader to understand how and why each scenario should be addressed. I found these scenarios and responses to be extremely helpful as they translated the guidelines as stated by Bailey and Burch into "plain English". The field of applied behavior analysis although relatively young, has worked hard to set a standard for behavior analysis to compose themselves in an ethical manner. The authors in an effort to prepare students with the vast ethical scenarios that they will encounter as BCBA's offer strategies and suggestions on how to adhere and apply the guidelines for responsible conduct. Ethics for Behavior Analyst by Bailey and Burch do a great job of combining years of experience, providing sensible tips and presenting valuable and important information to students in this cohesive text.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Organized, concise, helpful 23 juin 2011

I am only halfway through reading this text for an advanced ABA class, but I am very impressed with it. It is organized the same as the ethical guidelines listed by the BACB, which makes it easy to use to study for the BCBA/BCaBA exams. It provides vignettes to present various ethical situations, and gives the reader the chance to think about how they would deal with a similar issue, and then discusses the generally accepted ethical response(s) which are appropriate for BAs to use.

I also bought the older version of this book as an ebook because it was specifically what my professor wanted us to buy. This newer edition is expanded and has more situations and covers more issues and problems, but is very similar to the older edition, which I also think is very good.

I find that the vignettes allow me to better visualize ethical situations which could arise, and also allow me to reflect on times I have been in similar situations on the job. I can compare how I responded then to how the guidelines suggest I respond, and this has allowed me to better deal with some situations and to feel more confident with others. I also can see that this book will be very useful to turn to if I find myself in a murky ethical situation and I need to clarify the problems involved to manage them with the utmost confidence that I am fulfilling my ethical duties as a BA.
