Présentation de l'éditeur

Joseph Corso, the world's greatest mountain climber and CEO of Xtreme Adventures, had called it a season on Mount Everest. He wasn't expecting to lead any more expeditions on the mountain because the hurricane-like monsoon season had started. Corso, back in Seattle and far away from the likes of the Himalayas, is contacted unexpectedly by Jonathan Drake. Drake, a celebrity-style billionaire, wants Joseph to lead an expedition on the greatest mountain, during the most dangerous season of the year, with almost no details about why the expedition is taking place. Drake reveals little other than a discovery has been made, a discovery of epic proportions! Joseph soon finds himself flanked by a world-class paleoanthropologist, a tough-as-nails game warden from Mozambique, and a team of expedition members, which Jonathan Drake has taken a "spare at no expense" approach to their gear. Sherpas? Check. Security Team? Check. World-class scientists, trackers, and most importantly a guide? Check. A billionaire who can afford the best? Check. An insurmountable mountain that can kill you just by its sheer height? Check. Expedition Everest embarks on the greatest journey, the greatest adventure, with possibly the greatest treasure at stake in mankind's history.

Expedition Everest is the first novel in a series developed by Evan Pedone. The second novel in the series is scheduled to be released in 2015, and will continue the adventures of the explorers.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Expedition Everest took an unexpected turn... 8 avril 2014

I gave this only four because although I thought the story line was good, the action was there, the characters were well played, I did not like the ending at all. I was thinking what happened here? I can't really say much about the ending because it will spoil it. All I'm saying is it does not end the way you think it will end. Sometimes that happens in a book and its fun. It did not work for me in this case. I did read it to the end and anyone who likes expeditions such as this will enjoy it and there was plenty of tearing of limbs and chomping of heads but Evan Pedone you only get four stars from me because of the ending.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Disappointing 26 avril 2014

The story started off with a promising locale and a promising idea... but fell flat. The ending was like a crop duster suddenly dropping a million dollars right in your lap. It was completely unexpected, but not in a good way. It involved an extremely fortuitous find that the characters weren't even looking for. It could have been a part from a different book.

One of the big problems was the arbitrary sprinkling of commas. For example: "Suture, Malcolm's wound." (And the guy's name was Malkovich, not Malcolm.) It really was like someone threw a bunch of commas in the air and they were left where they fell. On top of that, all the characters repeatedly used proper names in normal conversation. It sounded so unnatural. If you are alone with one person, is it really necessary to say the person's name before your every comment? Not to punctuate a tone or emotion; just to say the name. This isn't from the book, but an example:
Joseph: "Drake, where have you been?"
Drake: "Joseph, I've been here."
Joseph: "Drake, I didn't see you here earlier."
After a while, it got annoying and sounded disjointed, enough to pull you out of the story. And all the characters did that.

There was also a lot of repetition, like telling us that the expedition leader was very concerned about the welfare of his team.

Not one of my better buys.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 What was this story about? 15 juin 2014

The story started out okay but toward the end it lost track of what the main theme was about. I did not like the end of the story at all. To much left unanswered so as for me I don't think I will read anymore from this writer. I am not mad or angry as the book basically cost nothing and I don't expect much from these authors as they are all just novices. But please guys have someone objectively read your stories for content, spelling and punctuation before submitting them. Doing this might increase readership and increase sales of your stories.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Too Little and Too Much to Believe in the Story 24 juin 2014

Expedition Everest starts out quickly. A biliionaire hires the best Everest guide in the world on the spur of the moment to guide his team of soldiers, scientists and himself to Everest to look for a Yeti which wiped out the entire expedition he'd previously sent there. What the expedition found on Everest was a cryptid, death and mystery. The Yeti turned out to be as predicted--of gigantopicean proportions, ferocious, carnivorous and (unfortunately for most of the expedition) unstoppable. However, the Yeti, which turned out to have the power to change its color like a snow chameleon, turns out to be the guardian of the mountain which has been awakened. The real treasure on Everest is Noah's Ark and a map showing where Atlantis, the Lost City was and other mysterious places. In addition, a lost artifcact of Mallory was found as well in the same cavern where the remaining explorers took refuge from the pursuing Yeti. The intrepid explorers in the end manage to escape the Yeti by taking advantage of a cold geyser to literally shoot up to the surface where the expedition's brother was looking for them in a helicopter. In the end, the expedition leader has come to believe in God after all.

What I liked about Expedition Everest was the rehashing of the intrepid explorers go to Everest to find the Yeti outdoors/mountaineering/monster/horror adventure theme. The author also seemed to be knowledgeable about Everest and mountaineering in general.

What I did not like about Expedition Everest were the thinly developed characters and that the ending was too much to really believe: finding Noah's Ark, escaping the Yeti by jetting up a cold geyser, being rescued by the expedition leader's brother who jetted half-way around the world to find his brother on a gut feeling, and then the polemics. What was also unbelievable about this story line was that a world class Everest guide would drop everything to hop on a billionaire's airplane for a 5 million dollar fee, and fly to the Himalayas without telling his employee or brother back at their company. What professional acts so rashly like that? None that I know. The ending of the final tension was also vaguely inconclusive as the main character, the expedition leader and expert Everest guide, lies in a coma in a hospital, which sets up the sequel. I also did not care much for the supernatural Buddhist monks characters, who seemed so out of place and out of real life character in this story line.

I think if an author wants to write a religious book that's what they should do their best to do. And if an author wants to write an action-based adventure book, that's what they should do their best to do, but they should not try to mix the two themes together because that does not usually work very well.

3 stars (It's OK rating) for the Seattle to Everest action minus 1 star for the polemic at the end equals 2 stars for my overall rating. Overall, I think the novel Carnivore, if you are familiar with it, is a better story by far. That is a fair comparison, I think.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Don't waste your time on this one! 11 mai 2014

This reads like a translation from another language. Some of the sentences don't make sense and the spelling is atrocious. It turned out to a religious tract. I'm sorry that I wasted my time and money on this one.
