5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Must Read in the Series! 16 mars 2013

Everybook in this Lycan series is a winner.Read them in timeline order if you can because characters and events get carried over and mentioned in some of the other books. Read first: Bonded, Betrayed, The Mating, The Keeping, the Finding then read Betrayed again.

OK, so I have now read 3 Nicky Charles werewolf books in 3 days and I just have to say that, as a werewolf fanatic, Ms. Charles knows her wolves. She has the legend down perfectly. And did I happen to mention that she is a pro at writing? Because she is. If she decided to re-write the Ontario phone book, I would read it...and I don't even live there!

This is a 5-book series, which I am sort reading out of order, but that's OK, because they can stand alone. I do recommend starting with The Mating at the minimum, though there are two books leading into that one (which I will get to this weekend).

To summarize:

***somewhat spoilery***

Rich girl finds out she's a werewolf. No one told her. Surprise!

Rich girl flees to Vegas convinced that she is a vicious monster, meets up with a nice guy with a serious gambling problem and becomes poor. Very poor.

Evil villain is searching for rich girl so that he can get all of her money AND sell her as a circus freak. Boo!

Beta of Pack from Ontario that has a "claim" on her (there's the Finding) is searching for her as well. Naturally they are mates (it always works that way, right?)

He finds her, she hits him with a cheap lamp and runs screaming in terror. Ow! They fall in love.

Evil villain's henchmen arrive and screw everything up. Mayhem ensures. Next thing we know, we're in Chicago. So first it was hot and dry, now it's cold and windy. Really messes with packing.

Previous evil villain appears on the scene, has a serious conflict going on with her inner wolf. Sucks when that happens.

Evil villain gets rich girl, everyone comes to rescue her, the elevator breaks. Lots of steps and out of breath. No trips to gym needed for a week.

The evil villain is about to win when ....

You'll just have to read the book. You'll be glad you did.

It's definitely worth the price - it's free - I would gladly spend lots of Kindle $ on these books. So if you love werewolves, you now have absolutely no excuse not to join the world of Nicky Charles.

(BTW, I do not know the author, and was paid absolutely nothing to rave about this book. I just love to rave.)

Characters: Cassandra was introduced at the end of the last book and quickly disappeared while Bryan searched for her. It is now three years later, and they still haven't found her. Cassie is a brave, if not fearful, girl who has learned to live a normal life after having been raised with a silver spoon. She is living with a man named Kellen who has a gambling problem and while appreciating Cassie, uses her to pay off his debts. Cassie controls her wolf with drugs and refuses to believe she is a werewolf. Bryan feels drawn to finding Cassie and they both have dreams involving the other. Bryan tries to help Cassie accept her wolf, but she is stubborn in her belief that wolves are evil.

Writing Style: I wasn't as invested in this story as the previous ones as a lot of the story was about the evil Aldrich and Marla and not enough about Bryan and Cassie. Also, this one had too much inner narration and as usual, I did A LOT of skimming. I did like the overall story, just didn't have the patience to read every word

Plot: Finally getting revenge on Marla's evil and putting an end to Aldrich's plot to get rich off "outing" the werewolves.

Romance: IS WHY I READ and this one lacked any romance that wasn't contrived in a dream. Mel and Ryne and Elise and Kane were included, but not much romance there either. Still, it was worth the free price. Nicky Charles is talented - now just get some new COVERS!

Sex and Violence Rating: R - Descriptive Sex, not much Swearing, Some killing

3 Stars - It had some good parts but really needs to be edited to be shorter.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Decent series 16 avril 2013

I've now read all of the books in this series. What I first want to say applies to all of the books in the series (so am putting it in all of my reviews). I had to go to the author's website to try and figure out the best order to read them in. In the end, I went with chronological order: Bonded, The Mating, The Keeping, Betrayed, then The Finding. Overall, I think the stories were interesting. Clearly, if I didn't like them I wouldn't have continued to read the entire series. I was prompted to read them in the first place because of the good reviews and the price (can't beat FREE)! However, I can only give them 3 stars because they were so overly redundant I found myself skipping over a great deal and wanting to get straight to the point. I think they could have each been shortened by 30+ pages without losing anything of value. Many things were unnecessarily repeated and actually took away from the plot development. The author did a good job developing her characters and the storyline, so there was no need to repeat things over and over again. I'm thinking specifically of how she may have told a story about something that happened in a character's past multiple times throughout the text. If you told it once, you can just reference it or put a one liner in that will prompt the reader to remember. I felt she didn't give the readers enough credit to put things together or their own or connect the dots. Everything was explained in great detail too many times and some of the stories felt dragged out. Still, I was drawn into the stories and connected with the characters (hence the 3 stars). As other reviewers have said, these books are available free elsewhere if Amazon is charging for them!

The Finding was a great read overall. It kept my interest and like all of the other books in the series was a great twist on a popular topic. All of the books have their own individual stories which are very unique and entertaining. Without wanting to give too much of the plot away, I'll just say that this particular story introduced a new werewolf in a very interesting way. Following her through her journey was great. Though the author did throw in some new werewolf abilities that aren't typical, she did it in a believable and well thought out way. Like the other books, some of the things were redundant and would have been better off left to the reader to figure out.

This is book 3 of the series and I'm still hanging on every word i read. I thought for sure that there couldn't possibly be a chance the author had enough left in her to make this book as good as the other 2. I stand corrected! This book opens up more characters while still keeping the old ones as well which i love. The author kept that mystery up in this book as well with new exciting twists that had me wanting 2 skip ahead a few pages just 2 make sure things were going to turn out how i wanted ( i managed to stay on the page but the anticipation was killing me). I recommend you to read the entire series i can almost guaranteed u will find a character you can relate too, you will laugh out loud at least once, tear up at least one, curse characters many times, and find yourself searching for the next book immediately after you finish the first.
