One important thing to note: this is a great addition to the game without completely changing the way the original plays. My wife was a little worried that with P+BH, the game would turn into nothing but attacking each other, thus losing what we liked about the original (and resulting in typical married couple game night arguments and sleeping on the couch threats). It turns out that isn’t the case. The game designers did a great job of giving it balance. If you load up with a crew with all of one skill to win showdowns, you are not diversified enough to do normal jobs and get through Misbehave cards. And you still need to do regular jobs. The one game where I played with the Interceptor and tried nothing but Bounty Hunting, while my wife was a Firefly doing regular jobs (and one piracy that came along), she beat me pretty easily. With only three wanted characters (all of which could still be in the supply decks waiting to be revealed), you can’t guarantee a steady success rate. So the new job types tend to be played when they come up, but you still play the majority like the original. It is just enough to add some new twists and some cool player interaction. Overall highly recommended.
The ABSOLUTE BEST thing about this is the addition of non-Firefly ships. Adding Jubal Early's ship and the scrapper ship were great additions. I do think that Jubal's Interceptor is a little bit OP, but it all depends on your scenario. While I don't think that the makers intended it, this does mean that you can technically run 6 players in a game now (there are now six ships with cores, etc. and more than enough captains).
Keep making expansions; these are not just a grab at your money - they are improving the game!
The 2 new ships are rather interesting. One has a great range of 8 but has a very small hold of only 4 spaces. The other ship has a range of 4 but a cargo hold of 15 spaces. As you can guess the faster ship seems to be the better choice for criminal jobs that require misbehaving while the slower ship is better for shipping or piracy.
There are also 2 new leaders and more people and gear you can buy from supply planets including "lawmen" which aid in capturing bounties or helping you out of being hit by pirates but won't do any illegal jobs.
Overall it is definitely an expansion worth getting if you have the firefly game.
This expansion changes all of that. Adding warrants and bounties to the game drives the game. Sure the new mission cards and (2) new ships, more on that later, are nice but I am coming for you and yours the moment I draw a bounty card for one of your crew.
The game also comes with (20 new ships. Jubal Early's interceptor and a Big Ol transport.
Jubal's ship is FAST it ha an initial burn rate of 10, but each time you add equipment to your ship it slows by one space. Since this is a small fast ship you only have (2) upgrade slots and a crew limit of (4)
The transport is Slloooooowwww but man is it loaded with cargo slots, (15) in all. The down side besides slower speed is that there are no slots for hiding contraband from the Alliance.
I give this expansion a shiny Two Thumbs Up.
I was worried the PVP aspect would ruin the game for the non combative players in my group, but you cant just attack players whenever you want, you need a job to do it and it can be difficult. The defending player gets to use his best skill, not just combat bonuses to resist in a showdown.
New ships add some unique options for play. I like options.
Over-all a great buy.
