Great expansion without overpowering original 4 juin 2014
Par J Full - Publié sur Amazon.com
Firefly: Pirates and Bounty Hunters is a great expansion, adding more player interaction without overshadowing what made the original game so fun. The additions center around two extra job types: piracy and bounty hunting. (Hence the name. Clever huh?) Piracy allows you to attack another player’s ship and steal cargo, spare parts or contraband. But you need a piracy job card from one of your contacts. You can’t just attack anytime you want. Bounty hunting is based off of the “Most Wanted” deck. Although every outlaw character in the game has a bounty, only three cards are ever revealed at any one time, making that character wanted by the Alliance. But it adds some nice tension to the game because you never know when one of your crew will turn out to be wanted. Both piracy and bounty hunting are resolved with “showdowns” which compare your crew’s best skills (fight, negotiate, or tech) to your opponents. So it’s not just about who has the most guns. You can talk or hack your way to victory too. There are plenty of new characters and gear to help you along the way. Bandits are hired guns that get you more money on a piracy job. Lawmen will get you more money for a bounty but won’t work illegal jobs. There are also two new ships with new leaders too. The Interceptor is a fast ship for zipping around and doing jobs very quickly, but has a limited crew and cargo capacity. So choose what you carry carefully. The Walden is a big monster of a ship. Every piracy job also counts as a salvage op, so with the right upgrades/crew, you can haul in a huge score from one job. But being slow and having no stash to hide your goods could cause you to be a target for other greedy players.

One important thing to note: this is a great addition to the game without completely changing the way the original plays. My wife was a little worried that with P+BH, the game would turn into nothing but attacking each other, thus losing what we liked about the original (and resulting in typical married couple game night arguments and sleeping on the couch threats). It turns out that isn’t the case. The game designers did a great job of giving it balance. If you load up with a crew with all of one skill to win showdowns, you are not diversified enough to do normal jobs and get through Misbehave cards. And you still need to do regular jobs. The one game where I played with the Interceptor and tried nothing but Bounty Hunting, while my wife was a Firefly doing regular jobs (and one piracy that came along), she beat me pretty easily. With only three wanted characters (all of which could still be in the supply decks waiting to be revealed), you can’t guarantee a steady success rate. So the new job types tend to be played when they come up, but you still play the majority like the original. It is just enough to add some new twists and some cool player interaction. Overall highly recommended.

Well worth it. 6 août 2014

An excellent addition to the Firefly game and worth the price. This adds a lot to the original including piracy jobs, which I believe were 6 per person you can get jobs from. It also adds a bounty deck which can either make things much more interesting or have little effect. It just depends on the type of game you are playing.

The 2 new ships are rather interesting. One has a great range of 8 but has a very small hold of only 4 spaces. The other ship has a range of 4 but a cargo hold of 15 spaces. As you can guess the faster ship seems to be the better choice for criminal jobs that require misbehaving while the slower ship is better for shipping or piracy.

There are also 2 new leaders and more people and gear you can buy from supply planets including "lawmen" which aid in capturing bounties or helping you out of being hit by pirates but won't do any illegal jobs.

Overall it is definitely an expansion worth getting if you have the firefly game.

A Must-Buy for the Browncoat 24 juillet 2014

This expansion does a great job of bringing more of the Firefly universe alive. It adds a PvP element, which I always felt was missing. The addition of bounty hunting and a couple of new scenarios is great too.

The ABSOLUTE BEST thing about this is the addition of non-Firefly ships. Adding Jubal Early's ship and the scrapper ship were great additions. I do think that Jubal's Interceptor is a little bit OP, but it all depends on your scenario. While I don't think that the makers intended it, this does mean that you can technically run 6 players in a game now (there are now six ships with cores, etc. and more than enough captains).

Keep making expansions; these are not just a grab at your money - they are improving the game!

If you can only buy (1) expansion for Firefly.... 1 novembre 2014
Par Hahnarama - Publié sur Amazon.com
If you can only buy (1) expansion for Firefly, the Board Game, then this is the one you want. IMO GF9 did an awesome job capturing the feel of the Verse, but lets be honest it playing just the base feels like playing solitaire. There is no player interaction, except for moving the Reaver ship into an opponents sector.

This expansion changes all of that. Adding warrants and bounties to the game drives the game. Sure the new mission cards and (2) new ships, more on that later, are nice but I am coming for you and yours the moment I draw a bounty card for one of your crew.

The game also comes with (20 new ships. Jubal Early's interceptor and a Big Ol transport.

Jubal's ship is FAST it ha an initial burn rate of 10, but each time you add equipment to your ship it slows by one space. Since this is a small fast ship you only have (2) upgrade slots and a crew limit of (4)

The transport is Slloooooowwww but man is it loaded with cargo slots, (15) in all. The down side besides slower speed is that there are no slots for hiding contraband from the Alliance.

I give this expansion a shiny Two Thumbs Up.

A well balanced expansion. 18 août 2014

Great Expansion. Adds depth to the game without overpowering the initial mechanics.

I was worried the PVP aspect would ruin the game for the non combative players in my group, but you cant just attack players whenever you want, you need a job to do it and it can be difficult. The defending player gets to use his best skill, not just combat bonuses to resist in a showdown.

New ships add some unique options for play. I like options.

Over-all a great buy.
