If you should buy 2015 or stick with 2014? 23 décembre 2014
Par vick2025 - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
After going through the entire book, I can say three things about it: pictures, organization, and clarification. That said, the "content" area is not much any different than the 2014 edition. There are, however, few new drugs and pathologies added in subsequent organ systems (reason I bought it). This edition is all about new, colorful pictures and images in the neurology section on the eye are just too good. There is also particular material that was taken off in 2014 and now added in 2015 (i.e. Lac operon in biochemistry). I feel like the overall clarity, and the way this book is organized in terms of relating one page to another is done quite nicely in this edition.

So should you buy the 2015 FA if you already have 2014?

Well, that depends on when you are planning to take your test. If you are planning on taking it within a month, have a lot of notes in the 2014 edition, or just don't feel like spending another 50 bucks or so then you should stick with 2014. If your exam is a couple of months away as in the summer of 2015, then I think you should get this edition and start making notes in it. So bottom line is that if you have 2014 and if you want to get the 2015 edition for new content solely then don't, stick with 2014 because the content overall is the same. I gave this took a 5 star because it has everything 2014 had (all errors fixed) and the additional few drugs/path info that are passed from past test takers (which is what we want right!!).

One con about the new 2015, at least for me right now is that the pages are very cheaply done again (why don't they get the pages like Goljan path??). I made few lines using a Pilot G-2 pen, and I could see the lines on the other side so you might not want to use a heavily inked pen. Also, the book I have, some of the texts in the tables are a bit blurry or out of focus (this may be just in my book) so watch out for that.

Content is a step up, no problem with pages yet 8 janvier 2015
Par Name - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
I've using this pretty heavily for the last 10 days with lots of page flipping and annotation. Honestly, I have had no problem with the pages being crumbled, wet, or cheap. I can kind of see my annotations through the other side of the page, but it doesn't bother me or distract me at all. You can't use a super dark pen or press down hard, but I really am surprised by all the negative reviews being received for that reason! (see attached images: my standard handwriting is line 1 and you can barely see it)

I think the new photographs and diagrams make it definitely worthwhile to upgrade to this edition if you are taking the step 1 this year. I think the changes make certain topics a lot easier to understand and they have added a number of new facts and topics. I know I could go into more detail, but I'm going to go back to studying it.

Less durable than last years. 23 décembre 2014
Par Sam - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
Quite disappointed that they seem to have cut costs on this version compared to the 2014 version. The 2014 version had really nice glossy pages that were difficult to rip by accident and were quite resistant to food and coffee stains. The new version's pages are very similar to a regular textbook and are easily frayed, torn and stained. For a book that is almost essential for a medical student, I wish they had kept the older style of production. Otherwise, some interesting new updates but not that many.

The material and content of First Aid 2015 is fine as always 3 janvier 2015
Par Carlos Mendia - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
The material and content of First Aid 2015 is fine as always. However the quality of the book is absolutely terrible and cheap. Compared to the past editions, the pages are thinner and less durable which is incredibly disappointing. I've had the book for only a couple weeks and the pages are already crumbled and look as though they have been wet. This is unacceptable for a book that costs $45. There is also less space to annotate the book which is incredibly frustrating as annotating this textbook is essential for most medical students. Overall, the content of the book is great as always, but I wish they wouldn't have skimped on the quality of the book and made the pages sturdier as they have been in the previous editions.

Binding broken on arrival 27 décembre 2014
Par Lynxrunner - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
Agree with the other reviews that the pages are thinner or less glossy (comparing to the FA 2013). When it arrived in the mail, "new," they were also "rumpled" like they've been wet, and the binding was already falling apart in the middle. (Edit: pages now detaching completely from the broken middle seam before first pass has been completed). If your book arrives in poor condition I would suggest trying to get an exchange before you mark on any pages or get a copy store to put a ring binding on it... I would have taken that short delay over the last couple of months I get to spend studying a book that is falling apart. Content good as always.
