If you had only one weight training book, this should be it! 6 juin 2001
Par B. Mathis - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
Rachel's Flex Appeal is the most complete, and awesomely inspiring book on women's bodybuilding! If you want to begin a weight bearing exercise program, this is your guide. Simple, easy to understand, and covers beginning, intermediate, and advanced training techniques. Includes some myths and common questions about women's bodybuilding. The chapter dedicated to bodybuilding nutrition has been so simple and sensible. She even includes some inspirational information on bodybuilding competing. Do not be wary, this is a book for any women who wishes to weight train, regardless of to what level! A+ all the way!

STILL THE BEST WEIGHT TRAINING BOOK ON THE MARKET 6 mai 2012
Par Cathy Craig - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
This book was written many years ago. I have read (and bought) all the popular weight training books out there and this is still the best one on the market. I keep buying copies over the years for my friends who are begining weight training. It is the perfect book regardless of the reason (firming up, getting in shape, recovering from an operation, losing weight...) you are doing some weight training. Unless you're "going pro" (and this book even covers that), you won't need to buy another book on this subject.
The book has a general overview of weight training, instruction on understanding how to use different free-weights and machines, the repetitions for exercises, lots and lots of photos on how to do each exercise, and most importantly exactly HOW to do each one (physically and psychologically) so that you get the very most from each single repetition of each separate exercise.
Rachael also covers diet in general, foods in particular; it explains calories, carbs, fats, and protein and it contains many recipes.
Once you have this book, you won't need to buy any other one. All the other weight training books I've bought over the years - I have thrown out...they are merely rehashes of what is in Flex Appeal.
My opinion is that for the most part, everybody's body works about the same way. Here is my personal experience: I ate 1750 calories/day, started weight training with this book and over 6 months lost 1/2 lb a week (lost about 1 lb/fat/week and gained 1/2 lb muscle/week). Weight-trained about 5 times/week, rode my bike half hour to an hour 5 times/week. In 6 months I was in PERFECT shape. I began to see the difference, for example in stomach muscles, in 3 weeks. Not just feel the differences, but see them.
Muscle weighs a lot more than fat. So you can weigh significantly more when you're in shape with the same inch measurements all over, than you were before. This is because your body density actually increases.
All this and I never trained with heavy weights, never did all the different rep combinations etc that are described. Just the begining simple stuff. Don't think I ever even got past the middle of the book (except to read it).
I have done every kind of exercise on the planet my whole life. Weight training is about 30X more efficient. You can do much less exercising and get a LOT more results with weight training.

Information and Inspiration 13 juin 2000
Par G. Porter - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
This is a wonderful book for those just getting into weight training, as well as a source of inspiration for those who have been training for years. Rachel not only explains how to train, but why it works and covers everything from exercises to routines to nutrition, as well as sharing a bit of her spiritual philosophy. You won't need a personal trainer after reading this book. An all-around GREAT book and I'm sorry to see it is out of print.
