Présentation de l'éditeur

Want to be able to trust your kids around a full cookie jar?

Want your kids to say “no” to McDonald’s and actually choose to eat something else?

Want your kid to be able to eat whatever they want without ever worrying about their weight?

With 'Food Ninjas: How to Raise Your Kids to be Lean, Mean, Eating Machines,' this reality is just a small step away.

In a world full of increasing paranoia about the food we eat and health-obsessed parents imposing more and more bizarre dietary restrictions on their children, 'Food Ninjas' provides the swift kick in the pants that many health fanatical parents need.

'Food Ninjas' is THE roadmap for raising your children to be the “lucky” ones who can eat whatever they want, whenever they want, and be lean and healthy as a result.
Think your kid needs to eat a bunch of vegetables?

Think your kid will become a raging diabetic if he is allowed to consume as much cake, candy, and Coca Cola as he desires?

Think your kid will be healthier if you raise her only on “whole foods?”
Wrong, wrong, wrong.

All creatures, humans included, come hardwired with powerful regulatory mechanisms with million-year track records of success. Children come programmed with all the instincts they could ever need to manage their body fat levels, energy levels, fluid intake, and much more—even while eating a modern diet. As a parent, the biggest mistake you can make is to INTERFERE.

'Food Ninjas' is about stepping out of the way and allowing a child to develop a healthy relationship with food, an optimal metabolic rate, and eat and drink based on internal, instinctual cues. Those internal cues can be trusted. Psychological interference about when, what, and how much to eat is what drowns out instinct and starts a lifelong neurotic tug of war between what we want to eat, and what we think we should eat.

After reading 'Food Ninjas,' you will no longer have to control, bribe, struggle, or fight your children to eat this or eat that. You can relax. They can relax. You can stop trying to force them to swallow that green juice and cod liver oil, and you can stop having to listen to them whine and beg to eat junk food despite your best efforts to get them excited about Brussels sprouts and grass-fed beef. And the whole family can put all that wasted time and effort towards something a lot more fulfilling.

'Food Ninjas' is not another idealistic book filled with tricks to make kids eat vegetables and delusional statements about how carrot sticks and hummus can be just as enjoyable as burgers and fries if you mold the hummus to look like a skateboard park or a Barbie bathtub. It is the answer for how kids and adults alike can eat in the most casual, intuitive, and carefree way as possible with excellent health to go along with it.

As a 30 something female who has struggled with obesity since childhood, I could not be more grateful for this book! The words from the adults in my life as a child still haunt me at times as I work toward establishing a healthy relationship with food. "Are you really going to eat that much?" "You can't still be hungry?" "You should get more exercise." Even when I was an extremely active child and pre-teen, taking dance, gymnastics, softball and Girl Scouts. Where THIS book comes in is helping me to not project that same "dysfunction" onto my child and instead encourage a healthy positive relationship with food from the ground up! Matt's humor is always a treat, but this book made me laugh at almost every page turn! I really appreciate someone FINALLY speaking out in defense of childrens ability to follow their own bodily signals (if we stay out of their way) AND stop us "Food Nazi" moms from ruing ONE MORE BIRTHDAY PARTY by subjecting them to our homemade "superfood" treats instead of just enjoying some "unhealthy" foods and enjoying the EXPERIENCE! That ultimately just set them up for a life long struggle if we're not careful! I fully believe this could have a HUGE impact on the Obesity Epidemic if all parents would read this book.THANK YOU MATT! More please!!! :)

You may think this is just another ho hum hide the cookies from junior and take little Janey to Curves for Kids ( this does not exist please tell me I made that up). Well, grab your popcorn and hot cocoa and give some extra to the kids and take a listen to what Uncle Mattie is laying down.
No restriction = no hoarding, scarfing down like a wild boar, no binging at Mikeys house on Life Cereal and no life long yo yo Oprah dieting for your offspring. I have proof that this works in my daughter, who has had meals all her life that can include ice cream, desserts and gasp, candy.. Now I am not one to be a spoiler on how this comes to pass so you have to read the book and find out for yourself. Hint: Stop making food the devil and share your gelato stash with the kids. Life can be sweet!

I needed this book in the worst way and it lived up to my expectations! I am no longer going to try to control my kids diets - they are more than capable of making good choices with just a bit of guidance. Thank you for writing this!

Though I am not raising any Ninjas myself (but really hope to in the future), I still found this book to be a worthwhile read. Matt Stone brushes on several topics that are key to his research such intuitive eating and the importance of a well functioning metabolism. Not only does he explain why it is so, but he also gives examples on how to achieve it. It is a short, clear and concise book thats offers insight into his work without being overly scientific. Very easy to follow, does a great job at getting the message across. However, if you are not familiar with Matt Stone's work, you might be a little thrown off by his writing style. He is very humorous in his writing, and writes in a way to allow everyone to grasp the subject while keeping references for the bibliography. The style is light, but the content is life-changing. In fact, it is thanks to Matt Stone's research and books that I have recovered from years of disordered eating and a long list of unpleasant symptoms that come with food restriction. I enjoyed this book because it allowed me to make links back to when I was a child, and realized that at a very early age, my intuitive eating instinct had been altered - perhaps influencing the onset of issues with eating later in life. As a kid, I would count how many pancakes I could eat in one sitting. I would easily make it to 8, with tons of maple syrup, while today I'll be satisfied with half. Growing kids need more energy than we think. I was also always lean and super energetic. Through Matt's work, I have rediscovered my inner Ninja, as today I will eat as much as I want of whatever my body wants, and my weight adjusted naturally. I really encourage you to look into Matt Stone's other books as well if you yourself struggle with a slow metabolism, feel cold and tired, have a low sex drive, etc. It might actually change your life too.

Best buy in a long while. I just finished reading this and I'm sorry it's over. The book itself is short. I don't think something is missing but I wish there would be more of it because it's such an enjoyable book to read. Not only for it's humor, but mostly for it's information (I love information!)written in fundamentals.
There are no detailed recipe's in it. There are however nicely grouped lists of principals along with goals and tests to see if your child is becoming a food ninja.
Implementing the ideas in this book won't be easy even though they are simple. Not because of the cost of the foods you will need or the insane hours spend preparing them nor for availability. This book helps you by providing your brain with some very good reasons to step aside and let nature do it's work. Added bonus is you have to stress a whole lot less on what your child is eating. Not out of carelessness or disinterest, but because it's better that way.
