REDUNDANT? YES...GOOD? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 24 février 2006
Par Death Metal90 - Publié sur Amazon.com

Who cares if Chris Barnes does the same thing over and over again. I love Pure Deathmetal. Torture Killer must be in pure ecstacy now having the great Chris Barnes singin for them. However, on this debut CD For Maggots to Devour, Barnes was not in the band. The music is straight forward redundant PURE Deathmetal. The music is very well executed and the musicians know how to shred hard on their instruments. And I can say this even though Gore Deathmetal is just recycled over and over again by bands like this, it's a whole lot better than all that watered-down weak pansy Gothenberg melo-death garbage that everybody likes. I respect bands like Torture Killer for just playing pure Deathmetal with brutal riffs, sick disgusting lyrcis ect.. They dont mess around with any wimpy progressiver sellout tactics like allot of other bands. Torture Killer is for TRUE Deathmetal fans who like it raw, sick and brutal with no B.S. People who like Torture Killer, Mortician and other such bands, are the same people who watch Dawn of the Dead a billion times and never get tired or bored seeing bloog and guts splattered all over the screen with the same scripts and acting. It never gets old to us because we like our music and our movies SICK!!!!!! with a big capital S.

Not half bad & actually pretty good 22 septembre 2007
Par A. Stutheit - Publié sur Amazon.com

Good, old-fashioned death metal albums are more and more becoming the trend in the 21st century. Torture Killer's two obvious influences are Six Feet Under and Obituary. (They got their start by hanging out in rehearsal rooms drinking beer and playing their favorite songs by said bands.) But even though they are essentially a joke band, this Finnish quartet are actually quite good! In fact, when their debut, "For Maggots to Devour," was released in 2004, it was the best and hardest rocking album SFU hadn't released in several years!

Considering it was recorded in something like two and a half days and with next to no money, "FMTD" sounds pretty great. Torture Killer's demonic, growly vocals, predictable horror movie samples, and grosser than gross lyrics are classic death metal; their hooky, cruching, groove-oriented riffs are more along the lines of Eighties thrash; and their drummer may not exactly be technical, but he does use the double bass a lot more than SFU's Greg Gall, so he is arguably more noticeable and forceful.

The fiery guitars and thumping drums on opener "Flesh Breaks to Open Wounds" lock into a deep, propulsive groove, and track two, "Sadistic Violation," is backed by a lurching, headbanging groove. But this album definitely sounds best when it's fast, as the deft and blistering riffage behind "Motivated To Kill," "Necrophag," and "Gore Terror" demonstrate. And the album's two speediest tracks, "No Time To Bleed" and "Strangulation," which boast blazing, careening leads, exceptional, pounding double bass drumming, and even a decent little guitar solo, are also its biggest highlights.

Torture Killer will never be an innovative or original-sounding band with brilliant songwriting skills, but they aren't meant to be. Everybody who listens to "For Maggots to Devour" without thinking too hard on it will probably find this to be an enjoyable and catchy dose of groovy, gory, tongue-in-cheek death metal. A recommended listen for all diehard fans of the genre.
WHAT A DEBUT! 7 mai 2006

Even before they had Chris Barnes as the vocalist they were real good. This cd's riffs are very close to thrash, the lyrics are extremely gory and the vocals are a choked/demonic style growl ,but what do you expect it's after all death metal. After this was released Chris Barnes joined the band and they released SWARM! which is an excellent cd.I recommend this cd and SWARM! to any fan of metal and especially to any fan of death metal.

good groovy death metal 25 octobre 2006

Torture Killer is deathmetal in the veign of Obituary and six feet under. Many of the riffs and the drums have that obituary sound to them except their are no guitar solos, wich isn't bad but there are some parts on here and the new album where they could have replaced some of the crappy slow strumming parts and no nonsence noise parts with a wicked solo and rythm guitar....but o well what we have here is still great easy listening death metal for you all to bang to when drivin around or just chillin with the bong or some beers.
