Description de l'ouvrage

5 mars 2011

Originally written for Chinese readers, this book provides a clear description of the Taoist practice of Internal Alchemy, or Neidan. The author outlines the four stages of the alchemical practice and clarifies several relevant terms and notions, including Essence, Breath, and Spirit; the Cinnabar Fields; the "Fire Times"; and the Embryo. The book is based on the system of the Wuzhen pian (Awakening to Reality), one of the main sources of Internal Alchemy, and contains about two hundred quotations from original Taoist texts.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Masterwork of Alchemy and Qigong 28 juillet 2012
Par Henry McCann - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Broché
This book is a translation of a modern text, originally published in the 1980s and 90s in China. In it the author gives a very detailed analysis of the process of Daoist inner alchemy. I have been a practitioner of Daoist inner alchemy and Qigong for about 20 years, and this is the type of book I wish I had when I first started learning. The descriptions are very detailed and broken down clearly into the various stages of cultivation. The translation is extremely well done and the author includes the relevant key Chinese terms in pinyin romanization and original complex Chinese characters for those interested in that as a reference.

One thing to note however is that this is not a book for beginners. This would be appropriate for advanced meditation and qigong practitioners who have had direct transmission of these methods from a teacher. It would also be useful to professional doctors of Chinese medicine like myself to give them an appreciation for the differences in medical theory and Daoist practice. However, even for them it will be a difficult read without some direct transmission of the knowledge. For the right people though, this book is like a precious piece of gold. A must have.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 excellent, must buy book by Prof. Pregadio! 4 novembre 2011
Par Michael R. Saso - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Broché|Achat authentifié par Amazon
Prof. Fabrizio Pregadio, one of the world's leading Daoist scholars, offers in this translation with commentary, a very readable and clearly explained version of an extremely important inner alchemy work called "Can tong qi" (Pronounced "tsan tong chi" in modern accent). In a very readable introduction (pp. 1-63) the origin and content of the present text is examined, after which the text itself is translated, pp. 69-126. The most important contribution of Pregadio's work is found in the extensive notes, pp. 130 to 244, which are easily understood by the lay person, and serve as a wonderful source of learning for upper division university and graduate seminars as well. The book concludes with tables and figures (245-260), the Chinese text (269-285), two indices (286-301), and bibliographical references (303-308). A must read! Recommended for university courses as well as the general public!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The best! 7 janvier 2013
Par Tom Cheng - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Broché|Achat authentifié par Amazon
There is profound scholarship behind everyone of Pregadio's books but it's his ability to make accessible these complicated and sometimes ineffable ideas that make these translations simply the best available.
