Free Stuff Everyday Guide outlines how to get free stuff and how to do it ethically. But unlike a lot of other "get free stuff" resources, Essex focuses his book on getting larger-scale freebies simply by contacting companies. He writes about creating a persona that will make companies want to give you their products. The book gives advice for deciding what freebies to go after, which definitely makes it a more serious endeavor than just stumbling across a free sample on Facebook.

As a seasoned freebie hunter, I found this book a little basic for me, but I did think the slightly different angle taken in the book (developing a "persona" and making a plan to get freebies) was interesting. This would be a great read for beginners.

I have received my copy directly from the author free for review purposes.
As usual I comment on the Kindle formatting, it looks like a text file with no illustrations or fancy fonts but none the worse for that, it is also speech enabled so you can have the synthesised voice read it to you if you wish.
Although there are other techniques for getting free stuff this book almost exclusively concentrates on contacting suppliers / manufacturers and asking for items to be supplied free. Well actually it does not pretend it is as simple as that and goes through a series of techniques that anyone can use to try and obtain goods for free. The book does emphasise that only the truth should be told but with some poetic licence and that the best technique is to offer a deal with the supplier for example offering to test / review a product. I would have liked to see more templated letters and the section on how to contact the correct person expanded that being the most difficult part.
My concern is that when there are only a few people using the techniques they may be successful, I have been doing similar things for years with varying levels of success, however if firms get flooded with requests they are likely to put in a level of filtering and employee awareness which will make it much more difficult, so get in quick.
Overall I found this an interesting book and if the techniques are followed I would expect some success.

This is a good book for anyone wanting to get free items from various people. Mike is straight to the point on how to get things done and offers a lot of advice and examples. Some of these I have tired and still do and it does work.

I liked the templates he also includes in the book to help people along. I would say that if companies start getting a lot of request they might start slowing down on who they do let in to receive the free items.

Overall a great book and great ideas to help anyone.

I'm not saying you can't get free stuff if you ask the right question to the right people. But most of us are after "instant gratification". I don't have the patience or the time to make wooing various companies my day job, even on a part-time basis. The ideas suggested here just seem to by time and laborious intensive for the average person.

I received this book in PDF format in the author's hope that I would read it and review it. The author claims success in his methods of receiving items from companies for free but his definition of free might be a bit misleading. A lot of what he he writes about is the barter approach which is fine but the potential reader might be fooled by the title. He outlines various approaches that have worked for him though by driving his message home I found that there was a bit of repetition. Someone who wanted to invest the time and effort into his methods would no doubt gain some items without parting with cash but would end up paying for the items with reviews, cutting lawns, trading etc..
