From the Middlegame to the Endgame is a book about just what the title implies: steering the game from the middlegame into the endgame (or not) whether you are better, worse, or the position is even. The examples chosen and the commentary is wonderful. I have my fair share of Mednis books, but this is my favorite (and Mednis books, almost without exception, always ranged from quality to very high quality). I believe that this work belongs in the library of EVERY improving chessplayer, something I wouldn't say about other, more well-known works.
Even though it is not the intended audience, I would especially recommend this work to motivated, intermediate scholastic players (like I was). If they "get" this book, they will be able to reel in and, especially, save, points by the boatload because a lot of their opponents won't understand what's happening on the board in the late middlegame the way they will.
Even though I am now (I hope) above the level of this work, it has clearly left its mark on my play.
I can't recommend this book any higher.
