HASH(0x98d06768) étoiles sur 5 Tommy Page at his best 12 mars 2003
Par Nancy Klokocka - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Do you remember Tommy Page? Do you remember that sweet, angelic voice? Tommy was at his best when he poured his heart out in his weepy love songs. You remember...that's what we were all crazy over him for. Those mournful ballads like "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" just ripped your heart out and nobody could rip your heart out quite like Tommy. When you broke up with your boyfriend or girlfriend who did you put on to help you fully experience your agony? Tommy. Whenever you needed a good cry Tommy was your man. You get your fill of some of Tommy's best love ballads on this album. In my humble opinion, this is, by far, Tommy's best album. There are also a few upbeat, pop tunes on this album. The pop tunes have a very typical 80's feel to them that is reminiscent of Wham! at times. The upbeat tunes are fresh and fun but you may find yourself reaching for the skip button when a fast tune comes up because you'll just want to hear that sweet little voice whisper things like, "No matter where I go, no matter what I do, deep down in my heart I'll still be close to you" Tommy was born to sing love ballads and everyone knows that. If you are one of the people who would rate "Paintings in My Mind" and "Tommy Page" a ten out of ten then "From the Heart" will blow your mind. "From the Heart" isn't easy to find because anyone who's lucky enough to own a copy isn't ever going to give it up. If you find a copy somewhere you will understand what I'm talking about. You will love this album and "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" is guaranteed to break your heart like nothing else.

HASH(0x98d06b70) étoiles sur 5 The singing male Marilyn Monroe 30 mars 2005
Par Jeff Reys - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Tommy can sing breathy pop like no other. He drizzles his songs in his patented smooth and sexy voice and at the same time can convince you his heart is breaking with every note crooned. His charm sells every lyric and you'll buy it like a sixteen year old boy in Britney Spears dressing room. Don't mistake his sentiment as hollow commercialism. He writes and composes most of his lyrics and as the title of this album states, it all comes 'from the heart.' If you're a tortured soul and feel like you're the only one going thru what you're going thru in this cruel, crazy, beautiful world, pick up one of Tommy's albums and find a kindred spirit.

I was very delighted to find this album on Amazon. This was the first CD I ever owned and listened to it obsessively when I was 12. It helped me get through a very lonely part of growing up. Tommy's angelic voice allowed me to dream of a day when I hoped to have a special someone who would give me the kind of love he sang about in many of the songs. I know I'm getting a bit sappy, but it is hard for me to review this album without the emotional connection. As of today, I've been married to my high school sweetheart for nearly 14 years and we've been together 18 years. I don't think I could ever express how much of an impact these songs have made on my life. Being a pre-teen and having a grand total of FOUR albums to play, I could easily listen to this album for 6+ hours a day, often falling asleep to Tommy's voice at night. (The other albums I had were Color Me Badd, The Boys, and PC Quest, all of whom I still love.)

Listening to these songs again make me realize that Tommy Page has had an influence on my musical preferences since then. I discovered Michael Bolton (who is featured in one of the songs) through this album, but most distinctive to me is the fact that I have a huge appreciation for Harry Connick Jr. and Richard Poon because to me they share many similarities in vocal quality and some stylistic ones.

Much to my surprise when I played the songs again after almost twenty years, I could sing along with them as if no time had passed. Generally my memory for lyrics is often poor, but it was a lot of fun singing along and with many years of vocal training that I didn't have when I originally bought this CD. My husband finds it entertaining to watch me sing to it too because I'm pretty sure I've got a young girl's goofy love struck grin spreading across my face. I could deny it, but the remains of my 12yr old heart is still thoroughly in love with Tommy's smooth-as-melted-chocolate voice. The 34yr old version of myself has the delight of effortlessly remembering how these songs allowed me to dream of an unconditional love I'd have someday, that all became a reality.

I really appreciate that Amazon has older/lesser known albums available for download and not just offering the newer music. The audio quality of the MP3 is excellent and just what I remembered them to sound like. I have not been disappointed about a single thing with this purchase.

Tommy page is still the rage to me even though he's no longer singing but instead is behind the scenes exec producing or discoveing other singers.Loved all his songs whether i was happy or sad,he always brightened my day with his songs!
