So worth the purchase for a successful trip to these amazing parks! 8 juillet 2012

I'm so glad I got this book before going to these parks! It not only helped in planning our trip in terms of what we wanted to do and see in each park and how much time would be needed for all we wanted to do, but it was also a constant resource for us while we were in the parks! I made sure to pack it in my back pack each day we were there. It's truly a comprehensive guide that's easy to follow. Not only did we use it for the regular info like lodging, where to eat inside or outside the parks, top attractions, hikes, and so forth, but we also found ourselves using it to help determine what wildlife we saw (what we thought looked like a coyote was really a gray fox according to the descriptions in the book), finding the less publicized views and activites in these parks, history, and so much more! I'm especially glad we had it for Yosemite, where there is so much to see and do! These parks are so amazing and this guide helped us to prioritize our to-do list and make the most of our time there!

Helpful Guide 1 janvier 2013

I found this guide to be helpful but would prefer higher quality photos and maps. All of the information required is probably here, but after using higher quality guides for other national parks this was disappointing. There are few guides for Sequoia and Kings Canyon. It seems to require a lot of reading and digging to find what I needed compared to others in the past from Frommers.

Great Travel Guide 4 juillet 2012

Well, I'm biased in favor of Frommers anyway but this book is really helpful when planning a trip. One thing I like about this book is that it also tells you where to NOT go. For instance, it tells you which campsites may be very hot in the summer months, etc. This is also easy to read with not a ton of details to bog down the reading.
Not Well Organized 7 septembre 2012

The selling point here is that one book can be used for three destinations. So you would guess each park gets a chapter or two? Well not really.

Okay information, but not great. The real problem is that information is dispersed everywhere--particularly the early chapters--so you get a section of Yosemite and another of King's Canyon or Sequoia. The good news is that the book fits in your back pocket.

I prefer the Frommer's National Parks of the west. Same information but each park gets a chapter of its own. This book is decent for planning purposes (where to stay, eat, and top attractions), but it is not the only guide you will need if you plan to do more than a day or two.

There are better choices out there.

I really liked this guide book for its compactness and good orientation to the nearby towns as well as inside-the-park attractions, roadways, and places to see, do, and eat. It was the first guidebook I went via the library, and then, I had to have one with me on the trip.
