Magnets don't hold 28 décembre 2013
Par Talvi - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
I loved the idea of this, a Frozen set with Anna and Elsa that had all of the dresses they both wore throughout the movie in magnet form so you could dress them and put them into scenes. There are six very colorful backdrops in all (3 two-sided glossy coated paper pages), including:

- The Cathedral where Elsa is crowned
- The frozen winter waterfall scene where Anna and Kristoff meet Olaf
- The snowed-over wharf where Hans and his horse run into Anna
- A wintry scene with a beautiful show-covered tree
- The throne room inside the palace
- The ice palace Elsa creates

The magnets include (from three punch-out magnet pages):

- Anna (underclothes)
- Elsa (underclothes)
- Kristoff (clothed)
- Sven the reindeer
- Olaf, the snowman Elsa creates
- Four dresses for Anna
--Green Coronation day dress
--Blue skirt and magenta wrap from Oaken's Trading Post
--Green dress from the end of the movie (slighly different)
--Beautiful green ball gown that isn't seen in the movie
-Four dresses for Elsa
--Aqua dress with black sleeves and magenta cloak
--Sparkling snowflake blue dress Elsa creates in her ice castle
--Ball gown in blue, same color as the ice castle dress (not in movie)
--Ball gown with blue skirt and magenta cloak (not in movie)
-Basket of carrots for Sven
-Mandolin
-Two hair pieces to make Anna's hair long
-One hair piece to make Elsa's hair long
-Crowns, shoes, sceptre, gloves, and little things like lots and lots of snowflakes
-Carrying case, right side is magnetic

Also includes a little storybook about Olaf and summer as well as an activity book.

It's a cute set. However, it has HUGE issues.

- The magnets are so weak they don't stick well at all. Best bet is to lay the case down, place no background on the magnetic side of the case, and place one of the dolls down and dress her. You can turn the case upright without the doll sliding down if you're very careful. The dress usually slides off though.
- The dresses and costume items have a white border and don't fit the dolls very well. For example, if I line the dress arms up with her arms, the neck of the dress is a little too high. If I put the hair on top of Anna's head, it just looks strange.

Still, if the magnets stuck, I would LOVE this beautiful set. As is, the play value is limited.

UPDATE: I took some scissors and cut the white trim around the dresses off. It was very easy to do and now they fit perfectly and look a lot better. Also, they stay on Elsa and Anna better.

Was about to toss it, but then... 3 mars 2014

I discovered the magnet pieces work extremely well on our refrigerator! The book is basically useless as the magnets don't stick to it and the accessories don't stick to the dolls. However, they all work on the refrigerator. Now if I could just get into the refrigerator to make dinner... My daughter has been parked in front of it for the last hour.

The magnets were very weak and would slide all over...the dress up pieces have white borders that make them look silly when put on the characters and make them ill fitting.

Cute concept, but not executed well. 6 janvier 2014

The description sounds like it would be a lot of fun--like paper dolls, but with backgrounds, a carrying case, and magnetic--a little like Colorforms. The backgrounds and dolls are out of scale to each other so the dolls look like giants when placed on them. However, the magnets are so weak there is no way to get the dolls to stick if there is a background between the two. The background pages are also too large for the magnet area which adds to the weakness of the main magnet & limits the area to place the dolls. It seems the designer may have pictured the size of the backgrounds fitting into the ridge that borders the magnet. There is no way to stand the scenes upright since the backgrounds are not magnetic, extend beyond the ridge and fall off. Nothing can be secured in the case so the backgrounds arrived with the corners banged up and the pages with the magnets were bent making it even more difficult to place the dresses on the dolls. This could have been a really fun toy, but is just frustrating. It is not worth buying.

Maybe a play set, but certainly not a 'dress-up' book. 27 décembre 2013

This set includes 3 glossy, double-sided background sheets, three sheets of punch-out magnets, a small activity book, and a short little book about Olaf. I'm rating this whole thing three stars because I suppose some small, non-picky children would enjoy playing with it.

However, I bought this more as a decorative magnet set because I liked the movie so much. My biggest gripe is that despite what is pictured on the back of the packaging, the magnets are NOT like classic paperdolls which - once a piece is cut out - layer more or less seamlessly over the doll figure. Instead, each of the magnetic pieces is surrounded by a thick white border, making it impossible to layer the clothing on the figures or 'blend' the characters onto the included backgrounds. Even without the border, however, it still wouldn't work because the magnets in each piece seem to interfere with each other, and refuse to sit where they're supposed to. Finally, as others have mentioned: there is a magnet built into the packaging which is supposed to serve as a base for the dolls and scenery, but it's so weak that the pieces tend to slip or just fall right off.
