2.0 étoiles sur 5 Cluttered with profanity & typos 30 avril 2012

I give this book 2 stars because the action was fast-paced and tense as Ellie tries to evade both the police and her stalker/killer. I was much more "into" this book at the beginning, but I think the editor (if there was one) got tired of the job after a few chapters and typos began to abound. Towards the end, there were a few paragraphs that were almost total gibberish. But I was also put off from the beginning because of how many times the f*** word was used. If it didn't occur on every page, then it would occur multiple times on another page--seemed like it came close to averaging one time per page. This was just a bit too much. Hardly any other cuss words were in the book, kind of strange to limit the cussing this way, isn't it?

When I finally reached the end, I was disappointed in the whole plot line. It was exciting to read until I finally understood the killer's motive, then it just seemed very unbelievable. I don't regret trying this book, but I can't rate it higher than 2 stars--sorry.

G'day USA started out glamorously. We've all seen the red carpet walks, the papparazi photos; being in Ellie's shoes took me right there and because of this, I think I misjudged her. When she gets accused of murder and decides to disappear instead of turning herself in, I thought, wow, you're pretty dense. Of course, she did have a few pushes in that direction and maybe, had I been in her shoes, I might have done the same. I think that the fact that I thought she was a bit daft in her decision making helped make this story that much more of a shocker for me. As I saw how she manoeuvred to stay out of the hands of authorities and how she slowly pieced together what had been done and why, I got to love her. Man, that woman is smart!

This novel is a fast paced suspense/mystery that had my heart jumping multiple times. The characters are individuals, which I love. They all have their own dialect, their own personalities. One of my favorite characters was Ann, the homeless woman that turns into Ellie's greatest ally, was phenomenal. Tony did a great job of putting us in her shoes and how it might be to live as a person who was dealt one of the bad hands in life.

G'day USA is definitely getting a 5 star rating from me.

Memorable Moment:

He continued forward out of control and landed on top of me, gasping for air. He had the presence of mind to grab me around the throat again and at that point I was pretty sure he didn't have any grand plan to torture me. He was winging it. I stuck my thumb in the cut on his cheek and pushed as hard as I could while I brought my knee up between his legs. I think the male nervous system has an automatic response to anything heading toward their sack. Even thought he was splitting his concentration between trying to choke me and the pain I was inflicting on his cheek he managed to twist enough to one side so I only glanced my knee off.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 An Aussie novel with a little bit of Hollywood Injected into it ... 24 septembre 2012

So while waiting for my hair to set from getting it dyed, I decided to grab my Ipad and read a book from Kindle and I thought why,not go to one of the earliest ones it seems I downloaded as I have so much on there and it turned out to be G'day USA. Now this is Book #2 of a series, but as I had'nt read the first one - you always tend to be a bit wary as you wonder if you can read the story still and have a clue what is happening. Lucky for me, Book #2 can be read as a stand-alone novel. It does however make references to Book #1 G'day LA , but if you are like me , then it is easy to fill-in-the blanks of what is happening.
G'day USA tells the story of up-coming Australian actress Ellie Bourke . She is about to premiere in a new film called "Blood Thunder" everything is starting to look up finally especially with the guy who killed her best friend behind Bars. Though it seems , that the fame and happiness is short-lived as her friends Killer is released and then a few days later he is murdered and it seems that all the evidence points to Ellie . Scared and frightened, she knows that she was set up. So can Ellie find out who killed him and set her up before it's too late ? It looks like though, that the Killer is hot on Ellie's trail and she's his next victim. How many people will the Killer leave in the way before Ellie is captured ? When the killer turns out to be someone Ellie knows and trusts, who can she turn to for help or is she alone ?
Find out in this awesome indie novel by Tony McFadden , a novel that will keep the reader wanting to read and find out who Killed Sweeney and is setting up Ellie and the million dollar question is WHY ?????????????
