Présentation de l'éditeur

The Book of Shadows is a collection of magical and religious texts of Wicca and other Neopagan witchcraft traditions, containing the core rituals, magical practices, ethics and philosophy of a Wiccan or other tradition. In Wicca, it is normally copied by hand from the book of one's initiating High Priestess or Priest, who copied theirs from their initiator. In modern Eclectic Wiccan terminology, however, a Book of Shadows is a personal magical journal rather than a traditional text.

Within traditional lineaged forms of Wicca there are a number of versions of the Book of Shadows, their contents varying to a greater or lesser degree from the early versions belonging to Gerald Gardner, who first popularised Wicca. While Gardner seems to have originally treated the book as a personal journal, it has come to be considered a religious text in most traditions. (Quote from wikipedia.org)

About the Author

Napoleon Hill (1883 - 1970)
Napoleon Hill (October 26, 1883-November 8, 1970) was an American author who was one of the earliest producers of the modern genre of personal-success literature. His most famous work, Think and Grow Rich, is one of the best-selling books of all time. In America, Hill stated in his writings, people are free to believe what they want to believe, and this is what sets the United States apart from all other countries in the world. Hill's works examined the power of personal beliefs, and the role they play in personal success. "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve" is one of Hill's hallmark expressions. How achievement actually occurs, and a formula for it that puts success in reach for the average person, were the promise of Hill's books.

Hill called his success teachings "The Philosophy of Achievement" an

Rehash of Kelly's text - plaigerism? 10 septembre 2011
Par Don Frew - Publié sur Amazon.com

This is NOT the Gardnerian Book of Shadows! This is just a collection of the ritual texts lifted from Aidan Kelly's "Crafting the Art of Magic, Book 1" (Llewellyn Publications, 1991). There are MANY examples of alterations in the texts that prove that the versions in this book were lifted wholesale from Kelly's book. These include ritual texts that Kelly "reconstructed" from multiple sources into versions that are unique to his published book. Is he getting royalties for this? He should.

Just to clarify what other reviewers have noted - this is an oathbound tradition meaning that teaching is passed orally from mentor to student. At the same time, Forgotten Books did NOT copyright this material - they are a publishing company that published material which noone currently has a copyright on such as ancient greek texts, and religious texts that are obscure.

Apparently this is the original book of shadow transcribed from the Museum of Witchcraft however without a teacher you won't benefit much and certainly Gerald compiled this alongside a number of other witches who helped. What is disappointing is that there are no references, explanations or investigations into this material provided.

You'd be better off reading Chas Clifton's Cauldron of Inspiration alongside a few introductory books but I recommend finding a mentor and joining a coven.

Do some research, please. 31 mai 2014

Ok, lots of people seem to have weird ideas about the Gardnerian Book of Shadows. No, Gardner's personal BOS was not published. YES, it still exists. And YES, people affiliated with him have published GARDNERIAN Books of Shadows. As in, following the Gardnerian tradition, not his personal copy.

Also, don't waste your money. You can get a free pdf of the Gardnerian Book of Shadows on so many websites it's crazy. Crafting the Art of Magic Volume I was an evaluation of Gardner's work if I'm not mistaken, so if parts of the GARDNERIAN Book of Shadows is in it... Well, that's why. He was called the "founder of modern wicca" for a reason.

Deserves no stars. Claims to be the Gardnerian Book of Shadows. Well, sorry to disappoint anyone, but it's not. The real thing was never, has never, been published.

I got this book to get a more in-depth view of Gardner's work. I am glad I got this book as it definitely gave me a new insight to the religion of Wicca. While I myself am a Pagan witch and not wiccan it was helpful.
