Biographie de l'auteur

Suzy Bowler has been a somewhat itinerant chef for over 30 years. After 14 years running a hotel and two restaurants in Cornwall, in partnership with her sister, she set off on her travels. Suzy has cooked in a ski resort in the French Alps, on a passage making yacht around Madeira and the Canary Islands, on a catamaran in the Caribbean and in New Zealand. She then settled in the Caribbean and worked as a chef in the British Virgin Islands for many years. Suzy Bowler is now eager to pass on all the interesting, useful and downright quirky recipes, ideas and food related info she has accumulated during this time. Suzy’s first book, “The Leftovers Handbook” was published in 2013 and she has also published several other books on cooking including a series of “Genius Recipes” each of which gives a core recipe plus numerous interesting variations and ideas together with information on how to adapt the recipes and make them your own.

Have never made ice cream before but tried it over the weekend, instant success, book is very easy to follow and results were perfect. Dinner parties will be much improved with my home made ice cream creations!

This book is chock-full of fabulous recipes. Lots of wonderfully different flavours of ice cream and some great ideas. All very entertainingly and amusingly written iwth lots of anecdotes and very fun to read. A must-have if you like eating ice cream, this book shows you how easy it is to make without an ice cream maker. I make ice cream a lot and have many ice cream recipe books but this one is my favourite. I highly recommend it.

Not having to purchase an ice cream making machine was a great plus for me. The measurements are given using the metric system, but that was really no problem. I simply Googled "metric system conversion chart" and found many examples that made it easy to convert to our U.S. system of ounces and cups, etc. There were a few ingredients that I wasn't familiar with in some of the recipes, so I Googled those, too. This is a tiny effort to be able to enjoy these great recipes.

Just reading this book is enough to send you to your freezer. The author creates ice cream so simple to make and has so many ideas for unique flavours.

I love ice cream but am allergic to an ingredient added to most commercial brands (propylene glycol). I have tried machines but they never worked well and most recipes required cooking first. So I was overjoyed to find this book! These are recipes anyone could do at home. I also loved the entertaining style the author writes with. She made it fun to just read the recipes. I could imagine her standing in the kitchen, sneaking sips of brandy and pieces of chocolate while whipping up ice cream. That is truly a difficult task with cookbooks, so kudos for a great concept, recipe, and writing style.
