Présentation de l'éditeur

By day, Larue Donavan is a down-to-earth bookstore owner. But by night, she's a psychic investigator dedicated to helping lost spirits find peace. Dead people won't leave her alone and Abraham Lincoln thinks he's in charge of her lovelife. Larue can handle ghosts and undead presidents. It's the living who drive her crazy.

When Callahan Weiss moves to town, the handsome newcomer opens a coffee shop right next door. She's smitten from the start, but she's not the only one -- The boutique owner across the street has her eye on Callahan too, and she’ll do anything to get to him. Callahan’s behavior is increasingly peculiar. Larue will need more than a little help from her ghoul-friends to save the day...

I got Me and My Ghoulfriends as a kindle freebie a while ago. I already like Pressey's Rylie Cruz series and I really wanted to read more from her.

This book has the same fresh, cute style that I know and love about the author.
I really loved Larue, it was funny to read about her "gang" of ghosts hanging around all the time and giving remarks on everything she does. Yep, her own peanut gallery 24/7!

But apparently it's not only her ghosts meddling in Larue's life...

I bought this book because it kept showing up on mt recommendations list....I should stop doing that. I honestly stopped reading this book during the main character's first meeting with the hot coffee shop guy. Up till that point it had seemed fun. Fun supernaturally inclined heroine? Check. Quirky sidekicks? Check.

Then it all went to Hell because it took her THREE pages to order a coffee from the hot guy. Why? Because for every sentence the characters exchanged there was an entire PARAGRAPH of her internal monologue that ranged from ogling said hot guy to pointless self criticism and nerves. I ended up screaming "Shut Up!!!" out loud (yeah, my bf thinks I'm totally nuts) and deleting it. If I hadn't been reading it on my Kindle I would have chucked it across the room.

I'm sorry but I just can't waste my time reading about a "woman" who can deal with ghosts and run her own business but can't order coffee from some hottie because she's too insecure. I like fallible and imperfect heroines but they should at least act like adults instead of hormonal teenagers. If real women acted like this the line for Starbucks would be three blocks long.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Larue Donavan is my new hero! 28 avril 2011

Larue Donavan wants to have a little normalcy in her life. That's hard to do when the ghost of Abe Lincoln thinks of you like a daughter!

Larue Donavan owns her own bookstore "The Book Nook" but is surrounded by ghosts constantly. Everything in her life has always been about the ghosts that can talk to her, because they do talk even when it isn't very convenient. She tries to help them move on but they can be stubborn. Talking to a ghost who is sitting in your backseat can be a little embarrassing if you are caught!

Dating has always been a little difficult for Larue when you have ghostly chaperones. But that all changes when handsome heartthrob Callahan Weiss, opens a coffee shop right next door. Callahan seems to be falling for our girl Larue and her ghostly gang thinks Callahan is a good man. Things are going good!

Too good... Brianna, the snobby witch spelled with a "b" who owns the designer clothing store across the street, decides that Callahan would be much better off with her!

Strange things start happening, Larue almost gets mowed down by a speeding car, her store sign falls of the building and almost takes her head off....what's next.

Is this bad luck or does someone else have something to do with it????

This is a great read!! The story is short but very entertaining! I am definitely a fan, can't wait to see whats up next for Larue!!!

1.0 étoiles sur 5 I wanted to like this one. 2 mai 2012

I was so excited about this book until I started reading. At about 27% I was getting so frustrated. Finally, just wanted to finish it I was skipping paragraphs and sometimes pages. It didn't seem to matter because if I'd leave off on them discussing lunch I'd pick up three pages later on them finally eating lunch. I was so bored. Even skipping pages was tedious and annoying. I really really dislike writing unfavorable things but I was so annoyed.

I didn't care what happened to Larue or Callahan. The description of the book tells us that Brianna is using witchcraft so we easily know right away what's happening even though it took Larue about 90% of the book to figure it out.

One thing I kept going back to was Larue's best friend Mindy. She seemed like the bestest friend anyone would ever want always coming to Larue's rescue and yet Larue kept putting down Mindy's business. Her friend was always begging her to go to her Pole Fitness class to help her out and put bodies in the class so she looked busy and yet all Larue could think about is how embarrassing the class would be and how awful it was. I kept thinking, that's no way to treat a friend who's always there for you. I was really saddened by this.

Not to mention Larue was embarrassed by her own job as Ghost Hunter. She couldn't even tell Callahan. Seriously, being able to see ghosts is part of who she is. She has a business and people call her for their help either embrace it or pretend it doesn't exist. It was really disturbing.

As for the Ghouls. Abe Lincoln and a few other ghosts surrounding Larue keeping her up at night, not letting her sleep and never listening to her. Not really sure how I felt about them.

I'm not really sure I can find anything favorable I liked about this one. I wanted to. It was just long and drawn out and not exciting.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great book! 25 avril 2011

This book was a great read! I thought that Rose Pressey did an excellent job of creating characters who I could easily identify with and could root for or against during the story! The situation is very believable, as most of us have dealt with a jealous person in a relationship. I thought Rose did a great job of laying out the story and definitely made me want to turn the page. Definitely a great book, and I look forward to the next in the Larue series!

I really wanted to like this ebook. The premise is good but there are way too many flaws for me to give it a higher rating. My main complaints is that it was just so slow. It dragged on seemingly forever, filled with much unnecessary fillers that it was a real chore for me to continue reading and had the unfortunate effect of making the heroine seem like an idiot. If you needed to reach a quota on words that's fine but don't waste the opportunity for character development. Of which there was none, btw. All we get is rudimentary background info & some superficial a-ha moments. This book could really have been so much better. A real disappointment.
