Description de l'ouvrage

2 juillet 2007 Developments in Earth and Environmental Sciences (Livre 5)
The theory of the Earth's climate evolution based on universal chemical-physical laws of matter-energy transformation is presented in the book. It shows how the process of Earth's core separation has led to formation and evolution of the hydrosphere and atmosphere. Having analyzed the processes of heat transfer in the atmosphere, the writers developed the adiabatic theory of the greenhouse effect, which was applied for analysis of climatic changes on the Earth. The influence of changes in climate on formation of mineral deposits and development of life on Earth was considered and presented based on modeling of typical climatic regimes. It shows that the anthropogenic effect on the Earth's global temperature is negligible in comparison with the effect of global forces of nature.

* Presents the theory of Earth's evolution based on the laws of chemical-density differentiation of the origin of the Earth
* Discusses the adiabatic theory of the greenhouse effect with quantitative estimates of the natural and anthropogenic influences on Earth's climates
* Describes the quantitative description of the evolution of the Earth's climate throughout geologic history and prediction of the future of the Earth's climate
* Investigates the global forces of nature driving the Earth's climate

Descriptions du produit

Revue de presse

"A fascinating tour-de-force of earth history . . . the main strength of the book is that it provides a comprehensive integrated model of the Earth and its climate. Individuals may question different aspects of the model. That is a positive aspect, however, as it will promote discussion and further research, resulting in a better understanding of the Earth and its climate." -- Alfred H. Pekarek, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, St. Cloud University

"One of the most hotly debated science-based policy issues from the last 20 years is global climate change. . . . Most contributions about global warming are published by Anglo-Saxon authors.  We have therefore to thank Elsevier for publishing the refreshing Russina work, which presents a global view of the Earth evolution syste, from its basic planetary components to the impact of microbial activity on the climate." -- Brigitte Va Vliet-Lanoe, CNRS Domaines Oceaniques, in Geologos

4.0 étoiles sur 5 New approach to Greenhouse effect 18 septembre 2010
Par MWConseil
Format:Relié
A very thorough physical approach to greenhouse effect on Earth;
Puts physical science back in the driver's seat where it should have remained all the time.
A very hard blow on the global warming IPCC thesis.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Scientific work that states we are not in a long-term global warming period 3 janvier 2008
Par Jeffrey Beall - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié
The overall thesis of this book is that the earth is now in the middle of a long-term cooling period. This period began about three thousand years ago, the authors, explain, and "the cooling trend will probably last in the future" (p. 282). The authors are all researchers at reputable universities (Moscow State University, Russia, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and University of Southern California) and the work is not intended for a popular audience. It is a scientific work and includes lots of equations and builds on previous research, but most lay readers will have no trouble following most of the text.

The authors state that "the global warming observed during the latest 150 years is just an insignificant episode in geologic history" (p. 285) and that "the anthropogenic impact on the global atmospheric temperature is negligible" (p. 285).

The authors conclude that the cost of the Kyoto Protocols is about $10 billion per month, yet they will only generate 0.0005 deg. C of cooling by 2050.

This is a book that will certainly stir up a lot of attention and controversy, for it is a scientific work from a reputable publisher (Elsevier) that denies long-term global warming is occurring.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Global colling 12 mai 2012
Par Dr. P. R. Lewis - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié
This volume is welcome after so much has been written on AGW (anthropogenic global warming) by others. Contrary to the alleged "consensus" advocated by politicians that scientists are all agreed about man's influence on the climate, the authors of this book argue coherently and persuasively that any warming of the earth seen in the last century will be short-lived as the earth cools under natural influences. It is quite clear that man has no influence on global temperatures and that temperature is wholly controlled by radiation from the sun, modified by natural greenhouse gases, especially water vapour and to a very small extent by another natural gas, carbon dioxide plus even smaller amounts of other gases. Indeed, the global temperature has actually decreased in the last decade, contradicting the dire predictions of the warmists. It is very refreshing to see climatologists to write about their work in an accessible way, and counter the prevailing myths about climate. The IPCC is the main culprit for those myths, and their last report was exposed for the numerous outright lies and errors printed there (the retreat of Himalayan glaciers for one). The hysteria it engendered is frightening. They propose drastic reductions in carbonaceous fuels like coal and oil, both of which help to sustain the global economy. Yet all their attempts to reduce consumption has come to nothing, thanks to the opposition of growing countries like India and China as well as developed countries like the USA. The EU , by contrast, has been peddling these ideas ad nauseum, and unfortunately still does so, making the existing economic crisis in Europe far worse than it would otherwise have been. Their carbon tax is devastating to productive industry in Europe, and totally misguided. A very worthwhile and fascinating read for those readers who want a rational and balanced view of the world climate.
