About the author
Though he loves all aspects of the game, his enthusiasm lies in the non-playing aspects of golf and for years he delivered lectures on its history. He chose to focus on the design and architecture of golf courses because they fascinated him. Today Mr. Daley enjoys traveling to Great Britain and Ireland to play golf, playing with a handicap of five. He is a member of several organizations including The Golf Society of Australia and the National Golf Clubs of Melbourne, Huntingdale, and Yarram.
In the mid-1980s there were reports of British linksland being unstable. This hastened Mr. Daley's decision to attract attention to the golf courses from around the world and build up people's interest in them, but not without first playing the courses himself. His first book, Links Golf: The Inside Story ($35.00), the second-place winner of the USGA's Golf Book of the Year Award, was written as a "wake-up call" to linksland clubs. The book was also on the short list for the USGA International Book Award.
Mr. Daley has played over thirty links courses, and walked through even more. Aside from his books, he also writes for his company, Full Swing Golf Publishing, and is a member of the Australian Gold Writers Association and the Society of Australian Authors.
