Blisteringly fast, heavy, blasphemus, its Marduk alright! 21 juillet 2001
Par Dmitriy - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
I should say this is almost strictly for diehard hardcore Black Metal fans. Marduk is one of, if not the finest Black Metal bands out of Sweden, which is a rarity since most BM bands are Norwegian, where the genre came from. However, Marduk is anything but foreign to the style. The execute it flawlessly. The fury, glory, darkness and evil can be felt in any Marduk release. While previous Marduk releases kinda lacked an indication to melody, pretty much a black metal noise, which isnt a bad thing, dont get me wrong, just trying to say LGDM is slightly different!, LGDM is a bit more melodic, and gorrvy, some influences can be traced beyond the BM genre. While they're retaining all the usual BM gimmicks, such as satanic oriented lyrics, corpsepaint, spikes, etc, which is great, adds to the atmosphere. This album shows they are growing as musicians, making great music which only improves with time.
This is a great album, dark, evil, raw, VERY in the Marduk vein. If you heard previous Marduk efforts, dont pass on this one. Even if you didn't, Marduk is something you shouldn't pass up on if you like Black Metal. The riffing is great thanks to Hakansson which is a veteran in Marduk and the scene, bass actually can be heard unlike most BM albums, B.War is one helluva bass player. Drumming is MONSTRUOUS (as on all Marduk albums :) Fredrik Andersson seems to be an 8 arms octopus, vocals are EVIL, Legion vocals never disappoint, this guy really knows his stuff.
All in all, a worthy Marduk album. Get it, if you're into this type of music, it won't disappoint you. I dare to say this is one of, if not the best Marduk album. Hail Marduk!

Pure Black Metal for the New Millenium 13 mai 2001
Par Zakk Simmons - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Marduk definantly proved themselves with this one, as with every one of their albums... They seem to progress and get better with their evolution. It's fast, blasphemous, and very heavy. The musicianship is excellent on this. I recommend "La Grande Danse Macabre to anyone who is hungry for some extreme black metal in the vein of Mayhem and Dark Throne. This cd is amazing. You will not be disapointed, so click "buy", and let the madness begin.

The last part of the Blood, Fire, Death trilogy 20 octobre 2001
Par Robert Stotzky - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
With "La Grande Dance Macabre" Marduk have reached the end of their trilogy of albums, and we see something of a return to the older style again. Perhaps Marduk feel that after "Panzer Division Marduk" they have nothing to prove when it comes to speed, so they slow it down a bit on "La Grande..."
That was a good choice, because when they slow down, it seems they gain as much in songwriting skills as they lose in speed. A solid black metal album that leaves you wondering in what direction Marduk will take this black metal batallion.
Low key for Marduk standards 11 février 2004
Par Jeremy Ulrey - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
It's pretty much a rite of passage in the metal scene. Following one's attempt at the most perfectly brutal album ever recorded, it's considered the mature move to step back and do something a bit more thoughtful, which also implies more subdued. Of course, more subdued in black metal terms can still mean neurotically frantic, but the idea is to inject some sort of pathos in there somewhere, let them know you really care. Well, Marduk have certainly displayed no interest in toppling their prior masterpiece of twisted havoc, "Panzer Division Marduk". The majority of "... Danse Macabre"'s eleven tracks hover around mid-period Hypocrisy in terms of intensity (Pete Tagtgren's little brother Tommy produced), often skirting the line between death and black metal(s).
What we've got here is a talented band who are struggling to put out at least one album a year without painting themselves into a box, which is hard to do while treading these musical waters. With each passing month it seems less likely a new savior will lift black metal out of it's creative slump, but in all honesty Marduk were never that concerned with breaking the mold anyway. They've traversed every road there is for a black metal band to follow, rarely coloring too far outside the lines, but while their peers are tripping all over themselves trying to predict the music's future, Morgan Hakansson and his evil cronies are perfectly content living day to day. It's the difference between planning for a comfortable retirement and just having the most fun with your money while you've got some left in your pocket, and in the end, which is truly more conservative?
GRINDING !!!! 19 août 2009
Par JUAN MARTIN GABASTOU - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
It's incredible this album has so many negative reviews just for being slower than other Marduk albums. This must be one of the bands'greatest efforts. It has a gloomy atmosphere unsurpassed by any other albums I've heard before and it's greatly Black Sabbath influenced. But most important of it all, it has something other Marduk albums lack, and that is nuances. The bass not only follows the guitar as usual but also counterpoints it at times, which I find refreshing. This is not as blast-beat happy as its predecessor and that is precisely the whole point, and it's a point most fans totally miss. They could have easily recorded another Panzer Division Marduk but decided to come up with a totally different and original approach, and the results are outstanding. Production is superb which is always welcome. Get it or rot in black metal hell.
