Description de l'ouvrage

11 mars 2014

Book 2, a continuation of the Tom Gray series.

After the terrorist explosion in which he is believed to have died, Tom Gray has been living a quiet life in the Philippines as Sam Grant, under the watchful eye of his government handler, James Farrar.

His peace is short-lived; Farrar recruits him for a mission that needs Grant’s particular skills, but fate intervenes when Grant is taken hostage in the southern islands by Abu Sayyaf, a militant organisation, and comes face-to-face with a dangerous former enemy.

Gray Resurrection, the second book in the series, is an exciting and fast-paced thriller with an explosive conclusion that reintroduces the inimitable man-of-action, Tom Gray.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 FAST-PACED AND FULL OF ACTION!! 31 mars 2012

Alan McDermott has done it again!! He managed to write a thriller with so much action and things going on that keeps you biting your nails to know what is next. With a very clever plot, the reader gets so hooked in the story that you just have to keep on reading. The story is really gripping and fast-paced.
After Tom Gray got terribly injured in his previous adventure, and the government gave him a new face (literally) and a new identity, Sam Grant tries to live a normal life in the Philippines. What he doesn't know is that the government has different plans for him. Before he can even consider what he has been ordered to do, he is kidnapped and held hostage by a Muslim terrorist organization. Join him while he tries to survive in the enemy's field. Get thrilled when people from his past appear in his life again, and hold your breath while Sam Grant fights both for his life and for the lives of the people he cares. Loyal to his principles, Sam Grant cannot see the injustices of this world without wanting to change the situation. Will he be successful in his ordeal? Read this wonderful thriller to know that.
The style is quite suitable for the kind of book that Gray Resurrection is. Powerful language, reflecting the great amount of action we find in this second book of the Tom Gray saga. If you loved Gray Justice, you will love Gray Resurrection even more, since it has more action, more suspense, and more questions to be answered. The characters are very well-defined, so well that they stand out as 3D characters. And you also find the usual unexpected twists in the plot that are so characteristic of this author. I love reading a book and not being able to predict what is going to happen next. And Alan McDermott is a master at doing that. His plots are so clever that you have to be reading all the time till you discover the truth.
How will this saga continue? We will have to wait till the third book in the series. After having read this fantastic thriller, I feel I cannot wait to read the following one.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Like the story but could use some more polish 3 novembre 2012

The story of Tom Gray continues in this sequel to Gray Justice. This time, Tom is in the Philippines trying to set up a new life when he gets kidnapped by an antigovernment militia group. Things get interesting when he meets his nemesis from the first book, and two of his friends are sent to rescues him. This is an action, adrenaline-pumping story. My issues are similar to the first book: Character development was fairly minimal and I think the writing could have been tightened up (cut out some of the lengthy descriptive conversations, that sort of thing).

5.0 étoiles sur 5 BATTLES & DECEIT!! 18 mars 2012

This is a very exciting sequel and I agree with the author, Alan Mc Dermott, it can be enjoyed as a standalone novel. However, having read Gray Justice I think it is better to read the books in the correct order.

When Sam Grant is kidnapped in the Philippines, it is a struggle to keep his true identity a secret. The battles that take place are believable, very exciting and not overdone. There are several interesting surprises and many intense segments where I began to worry Sam Grant might lose his head. I particularly like the interaction between Vick, a female hostage and Sam. I'm hoping Sam is wrong about never seeing her again in the next book; I hope they will be together again.

Very well done, Mr. Mc Dermott. You are a very talented author and I am really looking forward to the last book in the series.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 A very bad ending 25 mars 2013

How could someone write a book so intense and then end it just like that? It leaves the reader no choice but to buy the third and final book. I enjoyed the first book very much but at least it didn't leave you hanging at the end but more or less gave you a choice if you wanted to read the next. The second keeps your attention and is a page turner and then justs ends. It doesn't even lead up to an end. It is almost like the writter had a moment of writers block, still up to that moment it was a very good story. Not sure why they gave Tom Gray/Sam Grant a girlfriend and then she seems to be forgotten. I don't feel she really fit in with the story at all other then to use her as an excuse to get to the real story.
