J'ai découvert Martine Mc Bride avec son album "emotion". il y a longtemps que je n'avais pas eu une satisfaction musicale telle à l'écoute d'un album dont tous les titres pourraient s'intégrer dans "greatest hits". Ce dernier est à la hauteur de mes espérances. Bien que n'étant pas trés connue en France Martina Mc Bride me semble faire partie de l'élite du contry. 19 morceaux, des plus rythmés comme "Safe in the Arms of Love" où elle montre un tonus et un punch incroyable, aux plus doux comme "Valentine" où elle utilise ses capacités vocales étendues pour faire passer l'émotion. Un régal.

Martina's career started slowly as her first album (The time has come) did not sell in vast quantities. I did buy it - and I've been a huge fan of Martina's music ever since. Fortunately for me, Martina's second album contained Independence day, the song which really launched her career and ensured that she could continue to record high-quality music, culminating in this Greatest hits collection, which contains all the essentials.
Martina has a big voice and uses it to great effect on all types of song. Many of her hits are upbeat, happy songs, typical of modern country music. There are still people who think country music is full of sad songs with not much cheer - such people should listen to some modern country - very different from the way things once were.
Happy girl (from her fourth album, Evolution, the one that really confirmed her as a major star) is not only typical of the songs Martina records - it also describes herself. Other great upbeat songs include I love you, My baby loves me and Whatever you say. Even in modern country, there is still room for the occasional sad song, represented here by Concrete angel and Love is the only house. Despite these songs, the overall feel of the album is upbeat. Stranger was not released as a single, but has become popular with fans, so it was included instead of Cheap whiskey, a minor hit from her first album. It's a pity they didn't include both.

Martina Mc Bride est c'est indéniable l'une des quelques représententes d'une lignée d'artistes produisants une country de la plus haute respectabilité dans sa globalité. Il y a du coeur, de l'enthousiasme et une totale passion qu'elle nous offre à chacunes de ses interprétations. Des mélodies aussi entrainantes qu'exaltantes, quelquefois aussi apaisantes. Une vivacité dans des arrangements ultra performants. Des accompagnements s'incrustants dans un feu d'éclat de milles étincelles comme illuminant le ciel. La voix si détonnante, se passant de tout commentaire et qui est tout sauf supeficiel. Tout se combine et s'imbrique parfaitement. Et en plus, il y a de l'engagement dans les textes ou Martina dénnonce brillamment le calvaire des femmes violentées, les dérives de la télé-réalité ou l'irresponsabilité de l'alcool au volant. Pas la moindre hésitation, avec entre autre Mary Chapin Carpenter, Miranda Lambert, Billy Gilman ou encore Eric Church, cette jolie nana est indubitablement dans le nerf de l'épine d'orsale des très grands de la country dans lissage d'une production sans le moindre pli. A se procurer les yeux fermés !
