Revue de presse

“If you haven’t heard about Green Kitchen Stories yet, don’t blame us. We’ve been obsessing over this couple and their Nordic way of life forever…their latest cookbook, Green Kitchen Travels, inspired by – what else? – their family travels. Most notably, their time spent up and down the coast of California and on to the culinary epicenter that is New York City.” –The Chalkboard Mag

“…a visually stunning book filled with 90 recipes that are accessible to the home cook based on their travels (all except two are gluten-free). Taking inspiration from traditional recipes, with some slight adjustments, they’re made healthier for everyday meals…the recipes look absolutely decadent (each and every recipe has an accompanying photo), the photos are just as much a part of this book as are the recipes. They bring you in as if you were with them at the wonderful hole-in-the-wall restaurant somewhere in the Born district of Barcelona or having a conversation on an airplane about a recipe. Green Kitchen Travels is an inspiring book that is equal parts cookbook, travel journal and photo album. I’m thrilled it’s part of our home collection and can’t wait to put some of these recipes to the test with my own kids.” –Traveling Mom.com

"...Green Kitchen Travels, the newest book from Green Kitchen Stories bloggers David Frenkel and Luise Vindahl is one of the pretty--and pretty delicious--ones. Frenkel and Vindahl are intrepid travelers and curious eaters, and their new book shares recipes and ideas they gathered from their feast around the world."  –Epicurious

“Frenkiel and Vindahl are the couple behind dreamboat Scandi food blog Green Kitchen Stories. Who would like it? New parents and healthy veggies alike, and anyone for whom the first meal is the best one of the day: there are very few dishes here that wouldn’t be at home on a brunch buffet…this is light and energizing fare, often unintentionally vegan and all the more inspiring for it. There’s a reason Green Kitchen Stories is one of the most avidly read blogs out there – their passion for food is palpable, and an instant invitation to tuck in.” –The Guardian

“Required Reading” –Gardenista

“Just looking at the cover of Green Kitchen Travels stirred up inspiration on the visceral level for me. There are beautiful photographs of food, yes, but also captures of the worldly places that inspired each dish. This one accomplishes both handily. There’s nothing about it that I don’t love. Addictive is the only adjective you need to know, but here are some others: crunchy, salty, sweet, tender, and fresh. Lots of things to turn the wheels no matter what level you’re at with whole food + vegetarian adventures. You can buy it (and you should seriously).” –The First Mess

“The new vegetarian cookbook from blogging power couple, Green Kitchen Travels will convert even the most meat loving of carnivores. Just like their blog (and their first cookbook), this book features beautifully-styled food photography, stunning shots of their travels and a generous helping of Scandi-cool. With a focus on natural, organic ingredients and a large selection of vegan and gluten free recipes, this inspiring book shows you that creating healthy vegetarian food can be both exciting and enjoyable.” –Get the Gloss

“There wasn’t a picture, a recipe, a story that I didn’t fall in love with. Let’s just say that I have a huge crush on this book. One of the reasons I connected so strongly to their book has to do with the way David and Louise eat...each creation isn’t just flavorful, but, overall, pretty healthy as well. If a recipe isn’t vegetarian or vegan, it’s gluten-free. Sometimes both.” –AThoughtforFood.net

“I’ve been anticipating their second cookbook, Green Kitchen Travels, with much enthusiasm after admiring their work for many years. The book is filled with vibrant vegetarian and vegan dishes, many of which I was tempted to make right away. What makes it special is that every recipe is inspired by the authors’ travels around the world, often based on authentic dishes with a fresh, veggie-based twist. The creative and easy-going GKS style is evident on every page.”

I love every single part of this book, and it's so rare with a cooking book ! I'm so exigeant !
The pictures, the sweet & short story of every recipe, the recipe themselves... Love it. A must have for all vegetarian / healthy eaters (who like to travel or not !).

... no where close to being a vegetarian and I love this book 23 octobre 2014
Par Vu Nguyen - Publié sur Amazon.com

I am no where close to being a vegetarian and I love this book. I first discovered David Frenkiel’s and Luise Vindahl’s work through their Green Kitchen Stories blog a few years ago. I was attracted to their approach to fresh, seasonal vegetarian cooking and beautiful photography.

Green Kitchen Travels is a collection of recipes inspired by their travel around the world and is truly reflective of their food philosophy and style. Recipe wise, the book is divided into several sections: breakfasts, street food & snacks, salads & sides, soups, dinners, drips & drops, desserts, and condiments. So far we have enjoyed the delux acai bowl (wow!), overnight soaked oats (so easy to make), pumpkin and almond waffles, masala dosa, quinoa, almond, and mint salad, chioggia beet carpaccio, sweet potato gnocchi with kale pesto, creamy polenta with mushrooms and artichokes, passion fruit and avocado drink, sweet cashew milk, and wild berry tart. Their recipes are innovative but truly flavorful.

I love the stories behind the recipes as well as the beautiful pictures that transformed me to their destination. I own over 200 cookbooks and this is the only vegetarian cookbook in my collection. Even if you’re not a vegetarian, this cookbook will inspire you to go to your farmers market, seek out the freshest ingredients, and incorporate more veggies in your cooking.

I am big fan of their blog and have their first book Vegetarian Everyday and now have their 2nd book Green Kitchen Travels. I love lots of recipes from this book and have tried No Noodle Pad Thai, Chilled Avocado Soup, Mushroom& tofu dumplings, raw raspberry &chia jam, which is very easy and delicious, less one minute. Cannot wait to try Indian Cardamom &Sesame Laddu and Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Kale Pesto, Rosemary baked Chestnuts, Halloumi Veggie Burgers... next. Love their little travel stories with each recipe too.

What Ottolenghi should be 12 novembre 2014

This cookbook is gorgeous. You won't have to search the ends of the earth for the ingredients unlike so many cookbooks now - I'm talking to you Ottolenghi. You could find almost everything at whole foods. Everything looks so appetizing you won't know where to begin. No fake meat here, this is a vegetarian cookbook for those of us that love food, but happen to not eat meat.

I LOVE this book - the cute little stories behind every recipe, the pictures, the paper texture, the layout... The flavours in every recipe has been fantastic. There is one thing that is slightly negative, and that is the portion sizes. I find them way too small, considering they are not supposed to be a side dish to any meat. The gnocchi, for example, the recipe is for 4 portions, but it wasn't really enough to keep 3 persons full for long. Otherwise I absoultely adore the book! :-)

Cook your way through the World; with stunning illustrations and stories that take this book to another level. 15 mars 2015

This is a beautiful book that would be at home on a coffee table as much as in the kitchen! It is filled with not only beautiful pictures of the food they create, but also the authors travels.

In a nutshell, these authors have done what many of us can only dream of - travelled all over the world and immersed themselves in the cultures and of course the foods, of the places which they have visited. As stated in the opening message to their daughter Elsa -in her first 4 years of life she visited 15 countries and 5 continents. They slept on couches, ate in the homes and streets of the locals and learned from them, replicating the recipes though the pages of this book! It is an interesting read as much as it is a cookbook!

It begins with a history of their travels and also includes travel tips, then they go on to tell us how though they use the influences from their travels to create these recipes they are also adapted to be healthier, greener , gluten free so you can enjoy the cultural traditions in ,manner that is better for you.

The book is then divided into the following sections : Breakfasts, Street Foods and Snacks, Soups, Dinners, Drips and Drops (aka drinks) ,Desserts and Condiments. One thing I was pleasantly surprised at, given the wide cultural reach of these recipes, was that most of the ingredients are everyday and easy to find! And where ingredients might at a little offbeat such as pomegranate molasses, there were suggested substitutes!

Though I am not the best cook in the world these recipes were also surprisingly uncomplicated. Of course there are some that are going to take work such as making your own sweet potato gnocchi , some such as the salads simply involved throwing everything into one bowl in one go and whipping up a simple dressing to accompany it!

To date I have made several of the recipes: The Chilled Rice pudding and Citrus syrup as it reminds me of a dessert I ate back home in the UK; the Farro Salad which we enjoyed this weekend and had enough to last 2 days which was delicious ; and the Quinoa, Almond and Mint salad. Next on my list is the Vietnamese Pho as I cannot get anything like it locally! I am also excited to try some of the breakfasts as I am always on a quest to find a protein and energy heavy start for my kids that they will enjoy!

The pictures and stories behind the recipes are really the icing on the cake. They are inspiring and make you want to go out and explore the world and its cuisines, the latter of which this book does truly help you accomplish! I really love this book and cannot wait to keep cooking my way though the world with its help!
