For small and large farm owners, a handbook about growing trees This book is about growing fruit and wood. How to succeed in growing trees in the country;how to shelter, prune and feed them. And not spray them. It is written for New Zealand, but applies to any temperate zone, in Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa or America. Delightful and informative guide - absolute gem. 18 avril 2014

Format: Broché
I was one of lucky first to buy this book from the author - Ben also lives close to Hokitika. I bought it for my partner as he's planted hundreds of trees on our block. He was quick to point out how awesome Ben's advice was - even chainsaw advice. My visiting Dad, who has been growing things for over 75 years was also impressed and was going to implement some of Ben's suggestions as soon as he got back to his garden. The style of the book is unassuming and it's like Ben is parked across the kitchen table just having a chat over a cuppa. I never expected to find myself chuckling reading a gardening book! Humourus, insightful and so much more than about growing trees. Treat yourself or fellow gardeners to Ben's book - and it will become a well-thumbed treasure. Your trees will love you, too. There are also a fair few tips and some good information but not a single diagram or picture 19 septembre 2014

Living in New Zealand and loving the outdoors and especially growing trees, mainly fruit, I had high expectations for Ben's book. As some reviewers have written he has a lovely writing style and is humorous. There are also a fair few tips and some good information but not a single diagram or picture. They say a picture speaks a thousand words and in this case a few good colour pics or diagrams would have made all the difference. Example, pruning was covered in a paragraph, basically prune so the tree makes a big sail to catch the sun light! End of story.

I was hoping for so much more and yet again another eBook disappoints.

I hope Ben brings out a new edition with pictures and diagrams to help explain and get his thoughts and ideas across clearer, maybe then I would recommend this book to others. Save your money people!!!
