So, you're interested in growth hacking. In the digital age, there is such a proliferation of choice and competition that it is no longer enough for a business to "get people in the door." A consumer can easily try a product, make a snap decision on its relative value, and leave with no more effort than clicking "unsubscribe" to the first auto-drip e-mail that arrives in their inbox.

Recent societal and technological developments have introduced an urgent need for online businesses to focus on retention and engagement. The more engaged users are, the more likely they are to refer friends, family, professional contacts and like minded people to their particular community, which in itself organically drives acquisition. This results in a larger user base, which increases engagement and thus retention and referral. This is a concept known as virality, which is the evolution of the concept of "word-of-mouth marketing."

Virality is the way that you accomplish that benevolent positive feedback loop. As a growth hacker, virality is what you are about, because you are responsible for driving explosive, exponential growth for a company, a la Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest. Your job is to do the years of work that make something an "overnight success." After the roar of the crowd has subsided and their fickle attention spans start to scan the horizon for the next big thing, it's your job to shake it all up, re-engage them and turn your huge growth gains into a long-term, sustainable user base.

This is not marketing. This is not product development. This is not entrepreneurship.

This is growth hacking.

I felt like this was written somewhere between a blog and an e-book. The nuggets of wisdom of the book were sporadically in-between what I felt was a lot of "filler" content. I wish the author would have shortened it to 25-40 pages of straight insight instead of explaining to the readers about what is Facebook, twitter, craigslist etc.... I hope the author writes another book more concise and straight forward.

I suppose that, as one of the first books written on Growth Hacking, this book can get away with a lot. This poorly written, poorly organized book is the Kindle version of the book - directly ported to paper. This, without removing the links and the references that it makes to itself as an e-book. There are some useful concepts for novice marketers, but for anyone even a little familiar with data-driven marketing, there isn't much to learn here. I am seriously looking forward to some real books on this hot and emerging topic. One with actionable directives and proper punctuation.

Any level of professional should read this new and interesting book to see what growth hacking is all about. Growth Hacking is a very hot niche right now and I believe this introductory book explains what it takes nowadays to be a growth hacker. I think this is a great read for finding tips on to becoming a great market analyst, build a product, and introduce to the market using the principles of growth hacking. Read this great read and implement the principles and see how you approach the fundamentals to your business differently using the lesson of growth hacking!

This is a easy read for anyone looking to learn a general overview about Growth Hacking. There are tons of general examples of growth hacking at work as well as key topics addressed in a simple and concise way.

The best part of this book is that anyone at any level or stage of their career could appreciate all the information presented. If you're looking for something that goes into advanced growth hacking techniques and code this isn't the book for you though. It might not provide those things but it'll guide you to the fundamentals about what goes into them.

This book is great for what it costs. I gave it 4 stars because it was extremely informative, even though I was more interested in a how to guide. The case studies helped a lot for now because I can relate my business with those that have already succeeded. If you want to read a book and pick a couple useful things up by the time you finish it this book then it is definitely for you.
