Présentation de l'éditeur

Before the Harbinger Foundation, before Project Rising Spirit, Toyo Harada spent decades circling the globe, recruiting empowered individuals to his cause through coercion, intimidation and influence. But how is one deal brokered in secret between Harada and Rising Sprit Securities forty years ago now wreaking havoc in the modern day? And when the past comes roaring back, how will Peter Stanchek and the rest of Harada's most wanted react to the revelation of Rising Spirit's secret mission and the Harbinger hunter known as Bloodshot? Collecting Harbinger #11-14 and Harbinger #0, join New York Times bestselling writer Joshua Dysart (Unknown Soldier) and acclaimed artists Khari Evans (Carbon Grey), Trevor Hairsine (X-Men: Deadly Genesis), Mico Suayan (The Punisher), and Pere Perez (Smallville Season 11) for a complete, standalone tale of the dark foundations behind Valiant's first crossover event.

Joshua Dysart, and hard corps returns!,
Wow, valiants team book gets better and better. Really impressed with the writing, character development and interaction with other books.

Harbinger wars and bloodshot interact with this book, but the story itself can be read independently without purchasing the other trades (or comics) if you don't want. How do they do that? Goes to show the consistency and consideration of the company in regards to the customer.

Hard corps is introduced, but not as some first appearance attempt to boost sales, rather as an integral part of the story .

Well done valiant. Thankyou for consistent quality and attention to detail.

Harbinger yeah! 20 septembre 2014
Par Peter B. - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
Harbinger Wars TPB is a stand alone mini series that expands on the cold war between the Harada Foundation and Project Rising Spirit. It deals with the ramifications from the escape of two groups of Psiot children from a PRS facility. Bloodshot Vol. 3 : Harbinger Wars and this volume Harbinger Wars Vol. 3: Harbinger Wars, are stand alone tie in stories that enhance the understanding of the story but even though they are not required reading, I would recommend it for just the enjoyment of it all.

Harbinger Vol.3: Harbinger Wars (#0, #11-14) shines a light on part of Harada's history with PRS, as well as his origins, and his connection with the Bleeding Monk, Harada's mentor like spiritual guide, who just also happens to reach out to guide Pete Stancheck to his impending fate. Joshua Dysart visualises Harada's early childhood beginnings, cleverly contrasting it with a backdrop of a modern Psiot child who is coached along by the present day Harada. The underlying backstory of the main story line of this TPB sheds some light on Harada's dealing with Project Rising Spirit during the late Sixties and it's head, Director Carter. This backstory gels quite nicely with the present day events where Stancheck with the rest of the Renegades, are drawn to try to help one of the groups of escapee Psiot children in Las Vegas, which culminates in an all in free for all between both groups of Psiot escapees, Bloodshot, Harada, and others (not mentioned in this volume), where confusion reigns regards who's side anyone is on.

This volume is very fast paced with plenty of action and intrigue being played out between the underlying themes of the each story. In fact, the Sixties backstory goes a long way in explaining why and how such a long 'Cold War' existed to this day between PRS and the Harada Foundation. We are also aware of what drives the Renegades forward to helping, or for a better word, recruiting the escaped Psiot children. Perhaps the road to hell is paved with good intentions and we are a witness to the beginning of Pete's own fated repeat of history, Harada's history, or is it just another part they play in some other larger picture.

Harbinger just keeps getting better and this volume is no different. If you are a fan of Harbinger then you obviously have this volume, but if you are new to this title. jump on board, as it is a very thrilling ride.
The Harbinger Wars - Past and Present!! 4 août 2014

Where we left off: Peter Stanchek and the other Renegades narrowly escaped attempts at capture by Project: Rising Spirit and Toyo Harada’s Harbinger Foundation, and agreed they would band together as a team. Meanwhile, Peter received visions from the enigmatic Bleeding Monk, instructing him to head west. The stage has been set, and though not directly involved in starting it, the Renegades are walking headlong into the Harbinger Wars.

You may be asking - What are the Harbinger Wars, and do I need to be reading other titles to understand what’s going on?
Harbinger Wars was the new Valiant’s first crossover event, and was told in both a Harbinger Wars mini-series, as well as corresponding issues of Bloodshot and Harbinger. When Bloodshot made his assault on Project Rising Spirit, he unwittingly freed the psiot children PRS held captive there... apparently all part of a master plot by puppet master Toyo Harada. Some of these children stayed with Bloodshot, but others fled to Las Vegas, where they crashed into the Bellagio Hotel, ultimately taking it hostage. What follows then is a fight of ideologies by different parties descending on Vegas who have plans in mind for these super-powered children.

As is often the case in these events, there may be some confusion on just what “needs” to be read. The beautiful thing about this event is that Valiant did a great job keeping it reader friendly. If you want to read only the event, then just HW trade will tell you the entire story. But if you are enjoying just reading Harbinger, then you don’t need to read anything else. The story in this trade picks up where the last one left off, and you’ll be treated to the Renegades arriving in Vegas and becoming involved in the events of Harbinger Wars from their perspective. I will say, however, that you’ll be missing out on some amazing events that the Renegades don’t witness, like Harada vs. Bloodshot and the arrival of the H.A.R.D. Corps.

The other excellent part of this part of the HW event is the historical context that you will be treated too. As we come to find out, this ain’t the first time that Harada and PRS have come into conflict, and those conflicts from years past have a direct impact on the events going on in Las Vegas. Excellent reading and further excellent world-building from Valiant!
Fantastic crossover weaves the best of the Valiant universe into an epic showdown. 20 mars 2014

VEI has been building up to this one for a while, and for the most part it doesn't disappoint. Combining the titles Harbinger and Bloodshot into a crossover with the miniseries Harbinger Wars, you get a meticulously planned and plotted mashup of the best of the Valiant universe.

Toyo Harada and Bloodshot have been on a collision course for a while now over the fate of the group of powerful children now known as Generation Zero. Harada's plan is to train and use these children to move the evolutionary needle with this next generation of psiots. Bloodshot has other ideas. Throw in the Harbinger kids and this massive crossover makes for great entertainment.

The impressive thing is that this works at all. With each of the three titles telling the story from their own characters' points of view, it's amazing that the writers avoid repetition as much as the do. Harbinger Wars and Harbinger make out the best in this area while the Bloodshot title unfortunately suffers from a few too many repeats of things we've already seen. But the action and battle scenes are tremendous! The showdown between Harada and Bloodshot is one for the record books. I guarantee you nothing like it has been seen before. And when the Harbinger kids get their turn in battle it goes in a direction you probably couldn't have foreseen and leaves their lives changed forever. Oh, and I almost forgot the introduction of HARD Corps! It was a fantastic introduction to characters that historically were never that interesting to me. I'm sold.

The art is solid enough in most issues although there are some major continuity errors (I'm looking at you Bloodshot bloody stump) overall there's nothing terrible about the art. Standard grade stuff.

If you're looking for a great read with a lot of great character development this is a great book to pick up.
Best Harbinger Book Yet! 14 janvier 2014

This book really knocks the previous Harbinger books out of the water.

Here we get Harada's (main antagonist in Harbinger) origin story in the form of the Harbinger #0 issue, as well as sequences from the 1960's and the actual current day events of the Harbinger Wars arc itself.

Harada's origin story is superb, which gives the reader their first real insight into the morally grey Toyo Harada. From reading this issue you start to get an idea of what it is that makes the character tick, and what influences the actions he chooses to take in his position of power. The art is fantastic throughout to boot, which makes this particular issue a great read.

The 1960's flashback sequences throughout the 4 main comics are also every bit as captivating as the #0 issue: Here we see past events relating to the relationship between Toyo Harada's Harbinger Foundation and its rival organisation, 'PRS'. The sequences are drawn brilliantly, the plot is engaging and interesting and also parallels somewhat the current day events that are also shown in the book, and this link between the two prevents the time-jumping from feeling arduous or difficult or frustrating in any way. In fact, if Valiant were to consider publishing a 'Harbinger 1960' comic in one form or another, I'd certainly be interested in reading it; that's how good these sequences are.

The current day events themselves are of course entertaining too. The build up and culmination of the events of the Harbinger War are interesting to follow, and this book really excels in the characterisation of the cast: it's a huge cast but each and every character has its own personality and 'super' ability, and interpersonal interactions are naturally highly varied, with some characters getting on with others better than some, and some that lead to all-out conflict, not to mention the action sequences that occur as part of the 'Harbinger War' itself.

It must be mentioned that the 4 'main' issues in this book are tie-in material for Valiant's 'Harbinger Wars' trade paperback, which contains a 4 issue miniseries that collects the events of the Harbinger Wars crossover event, but the beauty is this: Whether you read *THIS* 'Harbinger: Harbinger Wars' book, the standalone 'Harbinger Wars' book or the 'Bloodshot: Harbinger Wars' book, each book reads as independent material, so you won't be missing out on any crucial details that happen in the other books, and more importantly everything in this book MAKES SENSE AND IS EASY TO FOLLOW without having read either of the other books. The other two books will naturally add depth and extra flavour to the overall 'Harbinger Wars' crossover event story so I'd recommend giving them a read if you enjoy this book, but they're 'required reading' by no means, so don't let this put you off of buying this Harbinger trade paperback: It's a cracking read, so you really shouldn't let yourself miss out on reading it.

Top quality from Valiant - Give it a read, you won't be disappointed.
