Descriptions du produit

If you want to incubate, hatch, and brood chicks yourself, rather than buying them from a hatchery, this is the guide you need. Poultry authority Gail Damerow explains exactly how to hatch healthy baby chickens, ducklings, goslings, turkey poults, and guinea keets, addressing everything from selecting a breed and choosing the best incubator to ensuring proper set-up and sanitary conditions, understanding embryo development, and feeding and caring for newborn chicks in a brooder. This is an indispensable reference for any poultry raiser, whether you want to hatch three eggs or one hundred.

Excellent Resource on Raising Chicks 2 juin 2013
Par D. E. R. - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
This book is very informative, containing information for the beginner with their first incubator to the experienced breeder. It includes "technical" information I could not find in other resources - For example, egg development, health issues of new hatchlings and causes of death or deformation, chick diseases and normal growth/development; deficiencies in your hens and potential negative outcomes to the chicks...to name just a few. I have read it cover to cover and keep going back to it to answer many questions. It is well written and easy to understand with many tables, charts, and pictures. Excellect resource. A must have for the serious breeder. For those who want to know more about raising and managing chickens throughout all life stages, I recommend Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens.

We were in the middle of an incubator situation so we bought the Kindle version of this book to have instantly. I will be ordering the paper version to include in my little Ag library! It is perfect for a newbie to DIY backyard farming flocks and its availability to the Kindle was a real lifesaver....11 little lives to be exact!

I have already read it cover to cover twice! Its a real bible of all the ins and outs, ups and downs of hatching eggs
as well as raising chicken, duck, geese, chicks and babies. Full of marvelous insights that come from a real pro and first rate
writer. This book is a must have and is extremely well written and illustrated. You won't be sorry for purchasing
it and every library should have a copy or two on hand.

Terrific Resource for the Chicken Hearted 3 septembre 2014

I don't think there's a more reliable source for chicken info than Gail Damerow, and this book does not disappoint. It came yesterday and I sat down with it after dinner. Before I knew it I'd read half the book! Her writing really is entertaining and her tips most welcome. I'm no longer a newbie with backyard poultry but I still got lots of management ideas I'd never thought of or read about elsewhere.

Great book 26 avril 2013

I only wish I read this book before starting my eggs in an incubator. At least I have it now before they are due to hatch. I have read a few web pages and a few poultry books, but still had many questions on incubating eggs. All the toughest questions I had with no answers seem to be answered here. I have the kindle version, but I might just add the hard copy to my wish list. This book is well written, nicely organized, and full of information I couldn't find anywhere else. The information in this book is exactly what I need.
