Biographie de l'auteur

J H Hood has a Bachelor of Arts, a Diploma in Education and the National Medal. She has extensive experience across government, the private sector and community organizations: as a senior manager as well as training adults in the workplace in a wide range of management and personal skills. She has worked with many thousands of people, helping them to build the skills to survive and thrive in the workplace. Feedback on her training and coaching focuses on how practical her material is, and how quickly positive outcomes come from using it. The ‘How To” series comes form her love of writing and her experience helping people build their skills and knowledge. She and her partner live in the foothills of Adelaide, where they can watch koalas climbing the tree outside her study window. Their two cats don’t even stir!

At first reading, so much of this seemed like simple common sense collected into a book.
But then as I thought back over so many meetings I'd attended, I realised that the sense is not so common after all... I'm now trying to think of creative ways to force this book upon so many of my colleagues...

The common sense feel comes from the clear and simple content - everything makes such sense and the step by step instructions are simple.
The little characters add an element of fun.
The templates are great, and I look forward to using more of them.

All in all an accessible, useful resource.

As a minute taker for various college committee meetings for some years now, I found this guide to be the most comprehensive, useful guide to effective meetings that's been written. I highly recommended it.

I was preparing for a "big" meeting and ran across this book. It was a quick read and provided me with some quick pointers for the next day when I ran my meeting. Being prepared makes a difference.

I got to use this book as a tool into understanding the mechanism of a meeting environment. It helps getting through the dynamics of formal or informal meetings and I liked how the author takes note of each one of the elements (list making, agenda, position, and attitude) and explains the basics.

In the end, if you’re a firm believer that timing is everything, you get to see examples of how to manage it. Good reading material.
