Présentation de l'éditeur

Hey kids,
do you want to know how to make all-stars for your baseball league?

Or parents,
do you feel like the coaches keep passing your child up? Well no more!

Or coaches,
want drills and ways to motivate your players to get better?

Coach Andy Collins is going to tell you everything he knows from his 35 years of youth and adult coaching and watching what works and what doesn't work.

It's chock-full of ideas in 86 pages.

He'll cover:
* How your league chooses all-stars
* What all-star selectors are really looking for
* 7 tried and true methods of getting better at baseball
* But more importantly, little known ways to get the people picking the team to notice you
* And how to beat the "politics" that seem to get in the way

Year after year kids sit in the stands crying after the all-star teams are announced and they weren’t one of the players that were chosen.

At the same time the students I’ve trained do make these same all-star teams.

It was then I realized I had the information that the kids in the stands and their parents and coaches were looking for.

Wherever there are kids around the world that play youth baseball, there are kids that long to make the league's all-star team.

Every year it's the same, kids that desperately want to have their name called out (or see it announced on the list) don't make it, and a little bit of them is hurting deep inside; and they don't know why they were not picked.

Little did they know that they could have fairly
accurately predicted their chances almost from day one of when the season started. And if they knew what you're about the find out, they could improve enough in skill in the eyes of the all-star selectors as to be a better player or even make the all-star team.

The good news is that in this book, there is a way to learn how to make the all-star team for the next upcoming season; and if not then, the following year (if you're willing to listen and follow the advice I give).

While I have written this for parents and coaches to learn how this process works and how they can help these youngsters achieve their dreams, this is mostly a book written for the kid who wants to make all-stars, not a book for the parent who wants their kid to make all-stars (there is a difference).

And it will be in that voice that this book will be written.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A clear and direct guide for both the potential all-star player as well as their parents 1 avril 2014

This book was a fairly short read and an excellent primer for the potential all-star as well as parents who may be new to the whole all-star scene. Quick takeaways: It takes lots of hours and plain old hard work ethic; and the decision to dedicate oneself to that much effort, although guided, must ultimately be the kid's decision.

The methods of all-star voting described are precisely the ones used by our local district. As a former league coach and board member, we experimented with two of the described methods. The recommendations to remain honest and forthright throughout the process are very commendable and in the end are the best counsel. The book touches on the politics of all-stars in a direct and accurate manner and covers most of the common considerations. It also mentions a few practical considerations for getting positive notice by coaches and peers.

Overall this is the most direct and accurate information all in one place that I have seen in my 16 years of coaching through the local league, travel ball and high school. It covers both all-star selections and covers obtaining supplemental coaching for the potential all-star. If I were to add one thing, it would be a recommendation to get a few sessions with a speed/track coach who can help get the most out of what you're born with.

In the end, it's not a particularly secretive endeavor to make the all-star squad. Much of it has to do with working to steadily improve in the off season, working to get more play time in fall ball, winter clinics, and other opportunities. It also offers excellent advice in getting guidance from experts along the way.

This book is a deep drill down into one very specific area of Youth baseball; if you want to find out how your child can maximize his/her chances of making the All-Star team in your league, this is the book for you. Also, you will discover links to other areas of improvement that feature videos you can purchase.

This is NOT your MLB star player teaching your kid how to play the game; it is a coach in the real world, who grinds it out every season on the dirt and grass of his local community; this gets down to the fine detail steps for making the All-Star team.

This book is *not* a skills and drills manual. It was never written to be that. As the author himself says "The running theme throughout this book will be hard work and commitment, and willingness to do all the necessary actions on a continuing basis to make it." By "it", the author means your child's all-star tream. By "necessary actions", the author means literally every step you can think of (private training, self-evaluation and analysis, self-practice, etc...) to make a local all-star team. The book lives up to its title.

Lots of people can write lots of things, but for those who really want to know if Andy Collins can get your kid on an all-star team I have this anecdote. Andy Collins shared his passion for baseball with me when I was a young boy. He taught me all the fundamentals and strategy he could. I made the All-Star team my first year in Little League. So now I am sharing his wisdom with my children.
