Présentation de l'éditeur

This is a full-length companion novel to the NY Times Bestselling Fixed Trilogy. It is not meant to be read as a stand-alone. THIS BOOK INCLUDES NEW SCENES AS WELL AS A FEW SCENES FROM THE FIXED TRILOGY IN HUDSON'S POV.

"I can easily divide my life into two parts—before her and after."

Hudson Pierce has led a life few others could even imagine. With money and power at his fingertips, he's wanted for almost nothing. He's never experienced love, however, and he's seen few examples of it in his dysfunctional family. The ridiculous notion of romance has always intrigued him. He's studied it, controlled it, manipulated it, and has yet to understand it.

Until he meets Alayna Withers.

Now, the games he's played in his quest for comprehension can finally come to an end. Or are they just beginning?

Told from his point of view, Hudson fills the holes in his love story with Alayna Withers. His past and relationship with his long-time friend Celia is further revealed and light is shed on his actions during his courtship with Alayna.

MUST BE READ AFTER THE FIXED TRILOGY.

Book One: FIXED ON YOU
Book Two: FOUND IN YOU
Book Three: FOREVER WITH YOU
Companion: HUDSON

En savoir plus sur l'auteur

Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there's kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn't seem to complain, however. When she isn't reading or writing sexy stories, she's probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 3.75- Well Written With Some Substantive Issues 9 juillet 2014

I struggled with this review. I'm going to try to be as honest as possible with NO SPOILERS since I'm one of the early reviewers. FYI, I rate the Fixed trilogy as 5 stars.

Hudson is extremely well written and well conceived but there are a few issues with it that I think are caused by the fact that this is a stand alone book.

The book is told from Hudson's perspective but it clearly relies on the readers knowledge of the events from the trilogy. In an apparent effort to avoid redundancy in retelling the complete story told in the trilogy, the author bypasses several events from the series that were significant. If this had been done in the trilogy by interspersing Hudson's perspective with Alayna's throughout the chapters, it might not have been as problematic. Doing it in a separate book had the effect of making the book, at times, appear to skip like a scratched CD jumping from one event to the next without logical transitions. You have to remember, Alayna's story is told in 3 books but we get all of Hudson's reactions and thoughts about 3 books worth of material in one book.

Additionally, the entire book is not about Hudson's relationship with Alayna, about half of the book is about Hudson's past. So that leaves the reader with about 150 pages of Hudson's perspective of events that took place over an entire trilogy. To get the whole story condensed into that tight space, the author often foregoes describing events and just describes Hudson's thoughts and impressions about the events. The descriptions of Hudson's thoughts are well articulated. The problem is that it can get a bit redundant. I have to admit that I had to resist the urge to skim more than once because the whole "I feel but I can't feel" thing with Hudson was starting to wear thin. Be warned, of the 150 pages that I estimate are about Alayna and Hudson, I would estimate that about 1/3 of those pages (or possibly more) are Hudson's introspections.

By the way, I give the story within the story about Hudson's past including his family and Celia 5 stars. The development of Hudson as a person, by telling his back story is absolutely brilliant. Many stories in this genre are told only from the female point of view. As a woman, however, it can get a little exhausting reading about issues you can easily identify in yourself. It was so refreshing to find that Hudson was as batsh-t crazy as Alayna. I mean let's be honest, if you read the trilogy (which I presume you did or why are you reading Hudson??) some of the stuff Alayna did made you cringe. It was train wreck level stuff (que that scene where she kept returning to his office building on her "run" OMG) that made you want to throw down your kindle out of embarrassment for her but you just couldn't look away. After enduring Alayna and rooting for her, it was great to find that Hudson and Alayna had almost identical underlying issues that were manifested in different ways. Us ladies need to know that one, we're not the only ones with issues and two, maybe there's someone just crazy enough to love us to mental health. Now THAT'S romantic.

This book is worth the money and must be read if you read the trilogy. You just need to be duly prepared to read A LOT of Hudson's thoughts and not much in the way of the events of the relationship between Hudson and Alayna.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 6 Captivating Stars - Hudson is NOT to be missed 8 juillet 2014

Let me start out by saying, Hudson Pierce. That’s right ladies; one of the most fantabulously sexy, alphas men ever to grace our presence is back... Hold onto your panties...

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, one of my all time favorite couples are back in this new novel by the glorious and fantabulous, Laurelin Paige. From the moment I began the journey into the Fixed series I have been captivated, stalking / fan girling over Laurelin Paige, so it goes without saying that when she told me, she was writing another book for the series, I was flailing and squealing like a 13 year old girl at a One Direction concert.

Beginning Hudson it became apparent pretty quickly that even though I have read and re-read the entire Fixed series many times, Alayna’s and Hudson’s story was not yet finished and I didn’t actually know the whole story, in fact we had just scratched the surface. In writing Hudson, Laurelin Paige not only gives us more of what we have been begging her for, as crazy, overzealous fans, but also another full length novel told entirely from H’s perspective. Perspective is key in Hudson, because it is truly and totally amazing what a difference it makes in an already unforgettable and beloved story. I was completely enthralled by how each person’s point of view alters, how you see characters you have already fallen in love with, you now see them in an entirely new way. The way H sees Laynie, is beautiful, but it’s his unwavering need to protect her is what made my heart both swell and ache. He has in truth, done some truly horrible things in his past, and he’s been quite a DB in the past, but my love for H, is very much like Laynie’s, it’s unconditional. I adore them both, flawed, a little broken, and strong. So incredibly similar in many ways, they are both strong and stubborn, so much so that it’s infuriating and perfection at the same time.

I loved reliving my favorite scenes from H’s POV. I fell in love all over again. I’m still fanning myself and feeling warm from the super sexy scenes. The insight and back story that we are given into H’s past, is fascinating and left me longing for more. Hudson’s relationships and memories of his past involving Jack, Mirabelle, Sophia, and yes of course the Wicked Witch of the West, Celia are brought to light. Secrets and true motivations are revealed. I no longer need to agonize and analyse H’s thoughts, intentions and motivations, because I was finally able to experience them, as I had experienced Laynie’s in Fixed, Found and Forever, through his/her own eyes.

Laurelin did an incredible job with Hudson; she made it fresh and new. It’s all kinds of sexy and steamy, perfectly paced, and flawlessly written, as always. How often do you see series being written from a different POV in effort to give the fans more, when they are begging for it? Lately, quite often actually, it’s become a trend. Hudson is the best alternative perspective I’ve read, no question about it. With a perfect balance of emotion, romance, seduction, heartache, new insights, and more than enough drama to keep your interest peaked, it’s fabulous. H is still the super sexy, alpha, with a magically delicious talent for dirty talking in and out of the bedroom. Charming and irresistible, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Diehard fans of this series will undoubtedly beg, and plead for more, but if this should be the last installment in Laynie and H’s love story, *sniffle* I can honestly say that, I was left with goose bumps, crying, overwhelmed and satisfied in the fact that Laynie and Hudson have finally been given their hard earned happily ever after…

This book should have been titled Celia and Hudson, and it would be appropriate, because that's all it is. All we get is the history and background of Celia and Hudson, with random women ( and ) men thrown in. By the 90% of the book, I saw a Hudson that is manipulated and dominated by Celia. As a matter of fact this woman has the last word in their breakup. My heart went out to Alayna. Hudson might pick up down the road with Celia when he decides he needs excitement in his life. Seriously.

The Hudson I met in the trilogy, though not a saint was 'the man'. This Hudson is a wuzz. I wish I had not read his story, now I cannot unread it.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 An ok addition, but not necessairy to read to enjoy series 11 juillet 2014

This books offers a look at Hudson’s point of view during key moments in his relationship with Alayna and gives us his side. While most of the time you could figure out what he was doing by what happened, it certainly added to the story. Especially Hudson’s relationship with Celia. You could see that Celia was still jealous that Hudson didn’t fall in love with her and the little twist she throws at him only makes it worse.

While it was nice to get some insight to Hudson’s mind, it also felt very rushed. The backstories were perfect and offered enough information to prove the point, but when we read the present (or the after in this case) it felt like a summary of events. There were certain things and conversations that happened with Alayna that would have been interesting to see his thoughts on it.

Perhaps the best part of the book is the epilogue. It takes place three years after Forever With You and it shows Hudson and Alayna getting their happy ever after as they welcome their daughter into the world. Yes. Their daughter. Hudson finally saw the beauty in having a family especially with Alayna. If you are going to read a serious like this you want to make sure there is a happy ending because in reality that’s what we all want.

The story certainly did add to the series and made it more interesting, but it’s not really important to read if you didn’t really care for the series. Usually with these kinds of books it’s fun to get more information and see both sides of the story, but a little more substance at certain parts could have made this a more enjoyable read.

Honestly, I was bored most of the time. It was good to read his side and the tidbits we got from his past helped fill in Some holes but for the most part we already knew half of it. There was nothing really to suck you in.
