When listening to Indukti's music, you can't help but think of Tool music (as if played by System of a Down, though). But comparing this album to Tool is just not enough, because Indukti has its own cutting personality. If you like tortured atmospheres alterned with demonstrations of brute force, Indukti is a sure hit.

One of the most exciting new albums I've heard in quite a while 24 avril 2010

As the title says, this is one of best and most exciting albums I've heard in a long time. The last time I listened to something I hadn't heard before and was so keyed up to get the disk was when I heard clips from John Zorn's "Electric Masada: Live at the Mountains of Madness" double album. A friend of mine sent me a link telling me to check this band out, and I listened to one song, added this album to my Amazon cart and bought it as soon as I got paid again. I don't do that too often. As previous reviewers have stated the album is complex, dark and ever changing, Unexpect was a very good comparison (get In A Flesh Aquarium if you get the chance.) Reviewers of their last album made frequent mentions of Tool. Personally I don't hear it very much, except both are in a darkish vein, but then I don't really like Tool so... The vocal tracks on this disk are all standouts, I couldn't disagree more with the reviewer who said they didn't fit and didn't flow, each vocal track is a logical extension to the surrounding tracks and fit the mood perfectly. For me my favorite is the first vocal track that Nils sings on. Now I LOVE Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, they're one of the best bands putting stuff out these days (I did get really excited when I first heard them, but that was a while ago) his vocals are perfect for the music and the bizarre lyrics that he wrote for the song, he gives a virtuoso performance, I HIGHLY recommend his band if you've never heard any of their stuff and you like this album, Sleepytime is more out there, and "scarier" but really amazing stuff. The second best track is the second vocal track, I don't know anything that guy has done but his vocals are vicious and all over the place, I need to look him up, 'cos he's really good. The last vocalist is quite good as well, but doesn't match up to the other guy, let alone Nils. And of course the rest are instrumental, and personally I think it's better than any of the instrumental metal I've heard coming out, better than Animals as Leaders, Blotted Science or Behold... The Arctopus... the music is crazier and more challenging, and far more experimental. So if (like me) you really get off on avante garde/experimental metal and music this disk is right up your alley. Oh I also recommend the afore mentioned Electric Masada or Naked City if you liked this. Both are quite a bit older (NC coming out in the late 80's) and are a combo of blistering metal fused with jazz with John Zorn's screeching sax work, who ever thought a sax could be so violent an instrument? Anyway that's beside the point, this album is fantastic and anyone who likes any of the bands I mentioned or genre's owes it to themselves to pick this up as soon as possible, it's worth the price tag.

EDIT: The second vocalist I mentioned is in Rootwater, who are quite different than this, BUT their one album is really quite good, and his vocals most impressive one it. It's recommended if you liked his work on this album.

If you're already familiar with Riverside then this group you might have heard since Riverside's lead singer, Mariusz Duda sang on their first cd. And it delivered. With their second cd, add a different lead vocalist for three of the songs, N. Frykdahl, M. Taff, and M. Lugrnbuchl. Not the same, unfortunately. While this album still delivers in the vein of their first, being mostly instrumental, the vocals on songs #2, #4, and #7 seem somewhat distracting as compared to when Mariusz sang the lead on their first and made the album flow and come together. If you're into Riverside I still will recommend this release as they have some great instrumentals on this also in which the cd comes in at around sixty minutes. While I'm not familiar with the three lead vocalists being used here I just know that, at least, two of the three songs won't be in my playlist because they just don't flow and seem disjointed and out of place. Overall, a solid release from this group that hails from Poland.

This is what goth fans have been waiting for all their lives. Indukti is a collection of highly trained Polish musicians who made an astounding debut with SUSAR under Riverside's Mariusz Dzuda's watch.

Idmen is their breakthrough. This is scary scary music. This is a dark ride comparable only to the apex of all scary complex metal, Unexpect's In a Flesh Acquarium. If you want to know where goth prog is, get this album, and you will not be disappointed. This is so much more important than SUSAR, which I enjoyed as a musician.

This may be the best album of 2009.

If you like complex music and goth.

In that case it may span more than one year.
